AMAZING LUXURY TRAIN JOHANNESBURG to CAPE TOWN | Premier Classe Tour
Вставка
- Опубліковано 3 жов 2018
- Travel with me on this incredible 28 hour overnight train ride from Johannesburg to Cape Town with the Premier Class train. A budget alternative to the famous Blue Train, but still a luxury experience. It's one of the most beautiful and scenic train rides in South Africa.
If you want to read a full review of my experience with Premier Class, check out my blog post: www.urbanpixxels.com/train-jo...

Did this journey eleven times in 2016, always sad when the journey ended. The food was freshly prepared, not frozen stuff heated up. The staff attitude was exemplary, the service shined. And it is very, very safe. The scenery is great and we saw giraffe, hartebeest, kudu, springbok, gnu, zebra, ostrich, rheebok, steenbok.......eagles, the rare riverine rabbit ...really special. And a majestic sable antelope just as we exited Hexton long tunnel on the Karoo side, standing on top of a ridge, etched against the blue sky. If this journey bores you, put down your phone and look outside. Africa is out there, to feast your eyes upon. Never a dull moment. 😊
I have been in shosholoza meyl train, I like that, it was never bored, so cozy, comfortable, fun! I did eat restaurant, drank a beer, bought chocolate, I had a wonderful sleep, in the morning while I get up, I have cheap coffee. I will go to Cape Town by shosholoza meyl train in March.
Drove Johannesburg to Cape Town and back. Beautiful drive. Think almost 14 hrs each way. Don’t think I’ve ever seen a more beautiful sky. It was so dark you could see every star.
WoW!. The train takes 26 hours.
How much is the cost for a car...excluding fuel charge.
Thanks so much for posting. As a family we travelled the length and breadth of South Africa by sleeper train throughout the 80’s, so this video conjured up fantastic childhood memories. The destination was always second to the splendour of the train journey.
was apartheid not a problem during those journeys?
Rob Potato Well... not if you were white and in your correct area..
Buket list trip I'm so taken away by the beauty of South Africa
Stay far away from the country,it's crime ridden now, killings mugging in broad daylight, stay far away
As a South African, I would recommend it, but don't stay to long in Johannesburg, or just be careful. I live around 30 kilometres from Johannesburg. Cape Town is awesome. It is my favorite city in South Africa. However, trains are not running at the moment. Just checkout www.southafricanrailways.co.za. They have all the information such as rates, schedules etc. You can also do your booking on the site. There is a cheaper alternative called Shosholza Meyl, which I've used numerous times, but if you can afford to pay a little extra, go for the Premiere Classe.
The nice city MANDELA NELSON VILLE
This is one of my favourite videos! I can't how many times I revisit your channel just to watch this! Thank you once again! Thank you for sharing this with the world 🙏🏿❤️
Oh, what a lovely ride and exquisite video. Thank you.
Always wanted to do this, Thank you for the motivation and making a great video.
Well way things are now in South Africa I won't ride a train,so many rail lines are stolen, overhead cables also,it's now so dangerous in country, stay far away from the country. The crime killings raping muggings are bad
Great - we'll do it this July!!!
My bucket list. 😊
I took the normal Shosholoza Meyl train numerous times from Johannesburg to Cape Town, and love it. Sadly the mainline trains as they call the long distance trains, had a lot of issues with services halted due to accidents and the Railway Safety Regulator forcing SA Rail Services to stop passenger services. It resumed November 2020, but was stopped again in December 2020, due to another accident, where the signalers are not doing their jobs as they are suppose to. I still want to use the Premiere Classe train at some stage when all is back to normal.
Wow...what a GREAT trip...thx for sharing
I really had no idea. Shall be going to Parkstation to have a ride in gautrain but had no idea about this. December, for sure. Vetri EC Komani. 🙏🇿🇦🙏
First time I knew about the Premiere class and live in South Africa. I knew of the others
Nicely made.
I did this trip in 2010. Was fantastic.
Took it twice from JHB to CPT, great experience... Prasa must just fix itself and be more functional once more
How much was it?
How was the food?
For anybody else who noticed for a rail journey through Africa there is a distinct lack of Africans in this clip, let me say that whatever you have been told, African people are the warmest most generous open-hearted people you will meet. And it's true that those with the least to give are often the most generous. So go to Africa. It is a place breathtaking in its beauty, the people are wonderful. And they are always honoured that you have chosen their land to visit.
It's true that there weren't many South Africans on this train. It's not an expensive train ride for European standards, but still something that not everyone in this country will be able to afford. Plus it is - whether you're local or a tourist - a bit of a touristy experience. Since we weren't traveling during holiday season, I don't expect many locals to take this kind of train to go from A to B.
And yes, you're right, South Africa is beautiful and the people very warm and friendly. I've experienced that during the 3 weeks I was there....
Not everyone is good...
No black South African?
Shocking indeed
Very beautiful. Unfortunately many of us Africans can't afford.
Really beautiful
Just bought tickets to SA and planning to do the train journey. This video got me very excited and I can't wait
Have always wanted to go, but never did. Just retired, and will try to persuade the wife, who is hesitant. Have a great time.
Have fun! It's a great experience and a wonderful way to travel through South Africa.
@@Urbanpixxels Well I'm already back and it was absolutely amazing and I want to go back soonest I can
@@Urbanpixxels this journey brings back good memories... thank you!
Rather travel on RovosRail or p
Blue train
I wish my hubby and I had been on the train
Very nice video love from india
PRASA recent announcement brought me here 😅
Bella😀
Nice video. Viewer feedback: 1. very good camera work. No sudden swings left or right. Many views up and down the train and the cabin as well as the scenery. 2. Too short : 15 - 20 min. would be good. 3. More voice commentary would be better. Reading graphics distracts from the view.
So what does it cost and how long does it take??? Please.
how much is the ticket
Is that the blue or shosholoza trains
This is a positive channel and I haven't seen any racial slurs in the comment section I refused to read it all
hi how muchwas the ticket ?
The railway infrastructure was looted like crazy so probably a trip like this is impossible
Damn, really?
How much is the ticket?
Fantastic Video!
What exactly was terrific?
@@user-fb4ze4sj7q ....The whole video
how much?
Is it still functional
Any short journey there from
Johannesburg to cape town ?and how much cost and how can we book the tickets
Hey there, I'm travelling to South Africa in November. How safe is Joburg Park Station? Did you take a taxi to the station? Did you feel unsafe boarding or waiting for your train at the station? Thank you!
How was Joburg?
This a experience of life time....beware everything comes at a price
Ticket prices
It is not a luxury train but a nice comfortable train
Plz come India I will show u my country
I'm concerned, you sit down the the whole 28 hours? Is there a cabin for sleeping?
With the Shosholoza Meyl you can buy cheaper tickets but then you have to sit up straight for the whole trip. (Traveling by bus much faster with minimum delays) More expensive tickets you can get a cabin (sharing) and can sleep on a bed, which is actually the day couch.
No, you get sleeper compartments. With Shosholoza Meyl trains, if travelling alone, you are forced to share compartments (Sleeps 2 or 4), or if you travel as family, you get your own compartment. As Pieter mentioned, you get the sitter coaches where it is like a bus. You sit all the way. When I travel by train, I like to get of at the stations such as Klerksdorp, Kimberley and other stations where the train stops for longer periods, to get of the train and walk around on the platform. Train travel is my favourite way to travel from Johannesburg to Cape Town, then flying back. Even my daughter loves the trains
This person did little or nothing to explain anything of use.
How much does it cost for train?
The Premiere Classe is around US$200 single trip. The cheaper option (Shosholoza Meyl) is around US$45 single trip. You can get more info on their website www.southafricanrailways.co.za
WOW! Just look at that. All that time on a train. 1200KM sipping bubbly. The only Africans who ever appear are the staff. And as for Braamfontein where Park Station is being "in a bad neighbourhood" go spend a weekend in Chicago, or Detroit or Baltimore. Because I know where I felt safer and where I was shot at!
You need to chill granpa....
Thank you brother. Same observation I made after watching the video for like 30 seconds. Sad.
Not a single back person in sight (except the workers). Fellow black people, we need to embark on such nice experiences also...
28 hours is too much aiy
@@lebohangmabitle1619 What if they are discussing how to colonise us again? We need to be there also, just in case 🤣
Didn't know the rail system still works in this country 😢 shame
We travelled from Johannesburg to Cape town on this Premier Class train. Unfortunately because of rail theft and signal cable theft the train stopped in Kimberly and we were bussed to Capetown in old busses without toilets. South Africa's aging rail system is today not safe anymore. This we were told by the train manager. Never again.
I am South African and it's a wonder you did not crash and die or got robbed at Park Station...
You put your life on the line, can't believe you rode it alone, definitely today u won't. I would never with all the crime killings in country, still can't believe how you got the guts to do it,
It's so dangerous,
This journey must be for those people who never get out, or live under a rock. The views look awful, the food seemed to be that of a Fast Food Diner, I took a look at this Train Journey as the wording said Amazing and luxury.
This film never came over as Amazing and certainly no signs of luxury - IMO and like so many of these Train Journeys, they are just so dammed borring and the food the same.
I just think that whilst there are some Luxury Trains out there Serving the Industry, this is not one of them.
For those thinking of adding this to their to do list, please read the reviews on Trip Advisor first and be prepared to be shocked!!!
Mr Spence Eng
why are u jelous
@@kitosetloboko7962 Sorry Kito, It was never my intention to throw mud for mud sake, but being someone lucky enough to have travelled extensively on some of the most Luxury Trains around the World, this vidieo never came even close to being one.
As an Engineer I have a great love for the Industry, but it does seem to be an industry only interested in Promoting the word Luxury Travel whilst milking it's Guests and providing a mediocre service at best.
Again my apologies if I have offended you in any way.
Mr Spence Eng
Is this for Whites Only? "Sleg Blankes"???
if you are not interested to take this train..
WHAT is luxury about this train?------it looks awful!
