Those are some neat catches! I had no idea there were still cabooses in South Africa, although they might be used as platform-riding cars similar to how they are used in America today. I find it quite a coincidence that the failed coal train was able to fit within the platform passing track I like the purple and light blue of the Shosholoza Meyl passenger trains.
Thanks Jan, glad you've enjoyed this oldie = my most popular video - as you have experienced on your own channel, some videos just have a momentum of their own...
A Beautiful Video Coverage... Loved Those metro trains... And Those Two Express Trains powered By Twin Electric Locomotive's...... Awesome keep It Up !!!!
Thank uou for the comment and question. No, currently there still is no train service to Stellenbosch. This has been the situation since Covid and the line had been severly vandalised, meaning the overhead copper cables have been stolen. As far as I know work is in progress to reopen the line.
Nice video At first I thought it was controller's mistake holding that coal train in mainline and letting those coming behind through loop. I didn't see the title.
Groetnis!
Stunning video as always! Mind my ignorance please - I'm still very new to the whole train thing, only recently discovered I love them - but is that a class 6E locomotive pulling the Shosholoza Meyl at 11:50?
@@RAILFANinSOUTHAFRICA Thank you for the reply :) I love the sound of the 6E1's blowers - hoping to catch the Shosholoza Meyl from CPT to JHB soon, hopefully with one of these at the head.
14:10 in our country we call this Horn as "S 35 cc 201/203" couse our train company has diffrent types of locos cc 201 cc 202 cc 203 cc 204 cc 205 cc 206 & cc 300 But Do the horn were broken? Also this horn is a Wabco aa2 horn
This one of your best videos yet. Loved watching those other trains having to manoeuvre their way around the broken Queensland diesel. Where you able to find out what the problem was and why did it leave the load it was hauling behind?
@@RAILFANinSOUTHAFRICA I suppose it's a good thing it broke down in a place where the other trains were able to go around. By the way the thumbnail for this video makes it look like the two trains are about to collide 😯😄
I'm gonna take a stab in the dark and say that not all cylinders were firing on one of those 35800 locomotives. It's only a stab in the dark because that's what it sounds like. When I worked on those locomotives in Queensland, I was qualified to repair and service the electrical side. I attempted very little on the mechanical side...such as engine problems .
Nice to see some clean and almost clean Metro sets. Here in the South all sets are covered in graffiti and dirt. Some so much, you can't even see the windows

Excellent quality of video, nice really loved it.
Hi Mr. Piet. I quite like these videos. Is it safe to travel to or from Stellenbosch with the Northern Line, considering you spot in Brackenfell?

Where is the cement going to?
It is going to PPC's depot in the Milnerton area Cape Town, from there distribution is by road.
nooit geweet ek like so van n train ni.....
What the cat doing
Back when we used to have electric trains, now there's no electric to power them.
So true !!! In the end we'll end up with only Diesel locomotives to move trains ...
Excelente el gato
