Love how committed they are to the bit of “this terrible car is actually genius.” Jeremy saying it’ll only take “five or ten minutes” to put your groceries in kills me
SInce you love long-haul overland vehicles form the 20th century so much, you should do a video on Hammond's car "Oliver" from the Botswana special lol
The first episode that I, an American, ever saw. I don't know if I'd ever laughed as hard before as I did when it caught fire 😂 I was sold on the show ever since!
When this vehicle was displayed in the museum, it included parts from the burning car wash and an arch was built above it, to show what calamity it faced during that test.
@@laurencesnee8362 Well something like that after the trio got out, there was footage of the van’s roof falling off and the motors smoking for some reason.
@@christopher32074 they would most likely smoke when under a lot of resistance. I.E the rollers jammed up, but there's a camera man just standing there recording it like 10 cm away from the rollers, quite possible where the nose of the car would be so the authenticity of the scene could be questionable.
@@laurencesnee8362it's TV bro it's scripted. They set it on fire. Because no, a TV show wouldn't stay on air if they popped out one night and destroyed a six figure bit of equipment at a local business.
Growing up in the Windsor area in the late 70s/early 80s, I remember going to Windsor Safari Park and those baboons scared the hell out of me. It wasn't until many many years later that I found out the 'The Omen' was filmed there. James May is a very smart man.
The BBC had to replace some Music when uploading to UA-cam, because said Music was licensed to them for TV Broadcasting only but not for being uploaded to the Internet.
@@itinn1 It would be the other way around, they can use any music for free in the UK, they have to pay for everywhere else. Hence why they change it. It was still probably really cheap to do back when they were first uploading clips to YT but not now.
One of my true favorite Top Gear moments this challenge! And they at the end "had actually managed to set fire to something that's basically made of water!" XD
PLEASE upload FULL EPISODES! The people watching this content aren’t (completely) brain rotted… Well, we can sit through full episodes anyway, I promise!
I never saw a single episode of topgear after the trio left, infact it was the last show I watched on TV so I cancelled my TV tax afterwards, and thankfully youtube is free so I can watch all the best bits
I like that the BBC is re-airing these on youtube. However, please for the love of God keep the original audio in there. Do whatever you can do get them back 😭
When I first saw this episode, and learned that they wanted to make a convertible 'minivan' [as we'd say in the U.S.] my first thought was "Oh, you mean like Inspector Gadget's Gadget Van?"
That was a skit - they specifically used carwash that would be cheap to fix. Clarkson probably pushed it a bit, but not like the production team did not think home made tent loosely attached to a French car, would actually survive those spinning brushes. Interestingly, that spot still is in operation, now it is called "IMO car wash", located in Bedford.
And when this van was displayed in the museum, it included parts from the car wash after it malfunctioned. And an arch that was made from the parts surrounds the van.
which one is the most unbelievable: -they enter the lion's enclave in that thing -the lions were uh, having fun when the trio were there -the thing catched fire
Just out of curiously, what counts as a “Top Gear Classic” segment, is there a specific season that you won’t upload anything afterwards or is all the first 22 series of the show fair game?
The natural and brilliant successor to Monty Python, The Goon Show and others of that ilk. Obviously huge differences, but the absurdity is still there...Deo Gratias. I pray wokery will not prevail and destroy the final vestiges of classic 'British Lunacy'!
Would you drive a convertible people carrier?
Love how committed they are to the bit of “this terrible car is actually genius.” Jeremy saying it’ll only take “five or ten minutes” to put your groceries in kills me
This channel is what we wanted after the ending of a legendary era
But these aren't full episodes or even the whole parts of just them clowning around.
At least this is something
“If you mention monkeys, I’m throwing you out!”
“It’s on fire.”
“It can’t be on fire!” *looks* “It’s on fire.”
I love the part at the end with them running away like kids 😂
Jeremy's wheezing laugh at 3:30 gets me every time. 🤣
Wheezing and folding like a garden chair, it's iconic 😂
Probably the... 2nd hardest he's ever laughed!! 😂😂😂😂😂
One of my favourite ever challenges!
SInce you love long-haul overland vehicles form the 20th century so much, you should do a video on Hammond's car "Oliver" from the Botswana special lol
It’s the silences that make this one particularly funny
One of their first and one of their best
1000% Agreed

How did the machine catch fire? Was the roof jamming the rollers or something?
@@laurencesnee8362 Well something like that after the trio got out, there was footage of the van’s roof falling off and the motors smoking for some reason.
Glad that they paid homage to the skit.
A strangely believable set up for sure haha

I love these moments where all of them rode the same vehicle
9:38 The lesser spotted May running on television.
I love how he’s the fastest 😂

“If you mention monkeys I’m throwing you out” 🤣🤣🤣🤣

the fact that it fucking caught on fire 😭😭
Something that uses water that is on fire
2:34 a rare “buffeting” from Clarkson
Thank you for uploading these in higher quaility!

That line has made me laugh for 20 years now lol
Damn, i'm going to miss them.
4:27 Hammond imitating a monkey more naturally than a zookeeper 🐵🙈🙉🙊🐒
Love the classic top gear videos :D
Anyone notice how the music at the beginning is different compared to what the Top Gear UA-cam has?
Fanfare for the Common Man might be expensive
Likely a country specific thing, maybe this footage is from the uk published one
The BBC had to replace some Music when uploading to UA-cam, because said Music was licensed to them for TV Broadcasting only but not for being uploaded to the Internet.

One of the first episodes of TG I’ve seen
This happened two miles from where I live, the car wash machine is still there and going strong
Did the owner say anything about the burnt motor?

3:40 this is what clarkson meant when he said hammond is genuinely funny 😂
"we're like a sandwich box with the lid half off" 😂😂
"See, from a distance" 😂😂😂
Buffeting
That's not gone well
The buggati veyron vs airplane episode please
It would be funny if this cannel has more subscriber than the "Top Gear" official channel. Can we do this boys?
these clips will get more views than new top gear
Shame its got some of the wrong music not all the original but I still enjoy it a lot
A true classic😂
I can happily say now that I am within the first 1k views of a classic Top Gear video.
First 2,500 views. The Three Stooges on wheels!!!
Run.....just run LOL

Interesting this channel being made and uploading these classic clips by the BBC
Wonder if they want to re-build bridges with the trio
The bridges were already re-built when they returned for a one-off special after Sabine died a couple of years ago.
Sad to see em blokes gone
Top gear!!!!!
Rip million pound car wash

Even when they are faking the car when entering the zoo this is more entertaining then other shows at tv that time

😂😂 Just boys being boys 😂😂
Wish this channel would upload the full versions instead of these cuts :(

Im more scared of the car wash than the lions
Even with a working roof
