  • In this video I tackle the removal of the muffler from my 2011 Porsche 911 Carrera. This is a real time video and I show how quickly it can be removed. Anyone have any constructive comments please leave them and I will reply. Please see my other videos and please subscribe. Please note that the actuator bolt is a 8mm not 7mm as I said in the video.

Just a tip for the sports exhaust actuator ball joint circlet clip: When putting it back together, it's easier to get the actuator, shield with the special washer and three bolts, and the little circlet clip installed together held by hand, then slid onto its perch with three holes, and actuator arm with circlet slides through the hole easily. Then from below, secure it with the 8mm bolts (at least one of them), then halfway remove the circlet clip, but leave it inserted at the top, then position the ball and use pliers to plug the ball joint in while holding the circlet, then put the circlet all the way through to secure it and clip it on. If you try to put the circlet on last, it's a little devil! Access is so tight here. Do it this way and you'll save yourself lots of time in Purgatory for curse words lol!

Thanks, again, for the video. Did plugs and coil packs today and these were invaluable in me getting the job done efficiently and without any parts left over. One note, I didn’t need to pull the 13mm between the cats and the center muffler (the one you mentioned only needing to pull 2 of the 3). Ready to tackle exhaust upgrades next!

Towards the end of the video when he removes the sports exhaust system…it’s much easier to just pull the vacuum line off of the unit. It’s just a push fit crimped hose and comes off really easy so no need to dismantle as shown at the end of the video

Thank you. I will try your method. I was not able to get the 3 bolts off at the flange.

The sport exhaust is held on with an 8mm bolt not a 7mm as I said in the vdeo. Sorry guys. Did I fix that? Yes I did!

Awesome video, and thanks for your experiment. I have a 3inch straight thru on s3, but now i am putting back stock oem muffler only. I noticed the power is more even. Have you noticed the difference on dyno before and after?

Great video, currently repairing my 997.2 PSE system. Been looking for the part number for the vacuum actuator (the motor moving the exhaust valve). Where did you find the replacement valve actuator (the motor moving the exhaust valve)?
