Do you run the risk of having a give away act as a way to buy an disingenuous audience, in the sense that they give you their email for the MIC, not for your music, then unsubscribe shortly after? I guess the idea is to turn those people into authentic fans through having good music ect. But curious your thoughts on this and how to avoid and create authentic fans.
And do you have a video about how to create this kind of ad in regards to the actual video promo or is that where we are on our own? ;) Understand if we gotta figure that part out.
The number one issue I have as a small tuber is getting those initial views on a new video so the algorithm picks it up. For example, here is a recent video link. I just can't get the momentum I need. Any advice would be appreciated. @s7OA
Yeah, but those people who participated in the giveaway gave you the email not because of your music but because of your mic so in the future, they won't care about your music or you since your music is not the reason why they signed up.
This is AWLAYS true about ALL marketing. For example, people don't actively go on social media to "find new artists" or "watch facebook ads" yet they do all the time. The idea is that you need to do things to introduce yourself to a group of people. If they unsubscribe, then that's fine. But there will also be a % that stick around. The fact of the matter is that doing something is always better than doing nothing. Don't be frozen by focusing the % of people who will "not care". Trust me, there will be plenty of those over the years :) Think of it this way. Would you turn down playing a show because 80% of the people there "came for the other band?" No! Do your thing and put your best foot forward regardless of "why they are there."
@@IndieMusicAcademy I just think it's better to collect emails of people interested in your music right away not people interested in something that has nothing to do with your music because if I'm not there for your music then I won't open your emails. It's better to collect emails and build a fan base that is joining you because of YOUR MUSIC and nothing else. Otherwise, I think you are wasting your time for just a 0.00001% who will care.
To anyone stumbling across this video, this is my most underrated lesson so far. Let me know what you think!
Great work Ryan, I'm learning a lot from you! Thank you :)
Awesome - thanks for this! I’m working towards my debut album release so this is very helpful.
Glad to hear it was helpful Henry! Good luck planning for your debut album release!
This is awesome.
How often do you recommend doing a giveaway? Cheers Kirsten

Hi does this still work?
