Wow I'm surprised you got the diagnosis just over 2years old with NHS!!! My eldest is 5 and a half still waiting (been waiting since 3 years old.) And youngest has had notice speech delay and shaking movement (from 6 months old) he's 2 years and 1 month old now and everyone now thinks autism! So Nursery, health visitors, pediatrics are now movong forward for help! Im so happy to see theres people out there getting the diagnosis and help ❤️

You can see it as soon as 8 months. We didn't know it was Autism. At 8+ months I started noticing weird shaking my baby was doing and thought it was seizures(we had doctors concerned and were all very worried). We completely missed all the other signs. Looking back at the videos it was all stimming and it becomes very obvious as the time goes on. Obviously, we didn't know until our baby lost all speech and social skills like waving and pointing but now that we know what stimming is, we see old videos and recognize autism right away. Experience and knowledge on the subject do make you see the difference between regular happy flops and autistic stimming.

@@martinadepifaniomg our son was born just wanting to sleep 24 hours and refused to wake up with no weight loss. We went home and he was mostly interested in sleeping and almost never cried. Was a late crawler and never played with toys or cried much. Didn't even seem to cry when he got hurt. Started walking early but we didn't have to babyproof and he didn't put anything in his mouth. He only liked watching stuff spin. We simply thought he was just calm and super easy. The best baby ever. He hit all the milestones and started talking before 1. Everything was so perfect until it wasn't. Only sign I noticed was the odd shaking I thought was seizures. Anyway, he is so perfect and obviously autistic!

These comments are not passing the vibe check. No one is saying that all children who do this have ASD, she is just showing signs that an autistic child may present. My son did this, had poor eye contact, also shook his head from side to side, and constantly kicked all day long before he could walk. There are a variety of different stems, she's just showcasing one that maybe a sign. Your child may do this and not be on the spectrum. And the people who think that you just want to diagnose your child with autism just for no reason are absolutely insane. They have no idea how hard it is being a parent to a child who may have disability

My son currently 21m has been showing such movements from 6m age. And we have been concerned about it.
But apart from this movement, which he does when excited. We don’t have any other symptoms. Responds to name, Crawling since 8m walking since 1yr2m. And has been speaking 6-7 words now. Good eye contact, mixes with people and family. Follows pointers since 10m and also now points to things since 18m. Follows orders (like pick this, throw that).

You don’t know what you’re talking about. No one “wants” anything. Signs are signs and you can either ignore them and potentially harm a child who’s struggling in ways you don’t know or can’t see or you can look into it just a little bit and broaden your understanding. Chances are, they didnt. They probably did regular baby hand flopping. This video is more than regular hand flapping. It's hard to tell when you are ignorant on the subject but still weigh in. Prove me wrong, share the videos. I can 100% guarantee, that if you have one and they are not autistic, they had normal baby hand flapping, not this. I have 3 kids, one is Autistic. It is different!
P.s. I also worked in daycare and with little kids for years.

She shared first signs she had with her child when he was a baby. It's helpful to some of us who know what she is talking about. You have no idea how hard we try to enjoy them despite all the therapy and early intervention we have to work with and extra work putting in just so they can have a life as normal as possible. I am glad you didn't have that issue.

My 16 month old son does the same exact thing with his arms/legs. Doesn't say any words.....is stimming OK? Is it something that should be stopped? I thought it was just excitement. But, none of my other 4 kids did any of this. I'm so curious

I don't think stimming should be stopped. If a child does turn out to be on the spectrum by full assessment, stimming is a way they process and cope with the world
