BIG CHANGE - Easier to Ride TRON & Guardians at Disney World - Including Both on the SAME DAY!

- Disney just announced changes to the Virtual Queue system for 2024 that will make it easier to book Virtual Boarding Groups for TRON Lightcycyle / Run at Magic Kingdom and Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind at Epcot. It will even make it easier for folks with Park Hopper tickets or Annual Passes to ride both of these attractions in the same day without the need to spring for a pricey Individual Attraction Lightning Lane. PLUS, we'll talk about our predictions for Genie Plus in 2024.
Rob, I want to send a huge thank-you to you. We just returned from a whirlwind tour of the 4 parks in 4 days that was followed by a Disney cruise. Using your tips on Virtual Queues, playing the slots, we got a lot on our must-do list done including Rise of Resistance (which was down for the better part of the one day we happen to be in HS - we ILL'd that one) and got Virtual for GotG and Tron. We followed up with ILL's for those as well as we wanted to ride them again.
For the most part I followed your priority LL's for most parks, but switched things up based on our preference. But nonetheless, all your tips and advice have been so helpful. It was a sprint, but I tried to keep an eye out for your in the parks. But alas, no luck.
My advice to people is to have 2 phones going in the morning. My Android phone seemed to show the LL screen differently, requiring me to scroll an inch down to get my pinned priority. This cost me precious seconds. Recommendation: Have an Iphone to do the Virtual or must have LL like Slinky, while the other phone goes for ILLs. Also, I followed your guidance on breaking up my party of 6 into a 4 and 2, which also helped for our day in HS. Stacking LLs also is a must-do. It helps knock out those small flat rides one after another.
Again, thank-you so much for helping us!
Holy crap!! You just saved my booty. I thought park reservations were gone for everyone! We have non-date based tickets for our Feb trip, and I absolutely didn't think we needed park reservations. I just got all of them settled. Huge thank you for saving me the hassle that would have caused!!!
Hi Rob! Thanks so much for sharing this information. I always enjoy your videos.
Thanks so much for making the trip to Disney easier. I always learn so much from your video's. Hope to run into one day. Have a great Holiday.
Rob, your videos are so informative and helpful. Your tips made navigating Disney so easy. My husband and I had our honeymoon in September at Disney World, and we had the perfect time. We were able to do everything we wanted and more. Thanks for the diligent work!
Thanks for the explanation of these changes, Rob. Can't wait to return in March.
Love your content your videos were so helpful when I went last year. Planning a trip again this spring and can’t wait to put your new tips and tricks to use!
Good luck!!! 🍀
Merry Christmas! First, we hope you and yours had a marvelous Christmas! We are at the parks - first time since LLs & Genie are introduced & CANNOT thank you for your “genie slots”!! OMG! They work !!! We’re keeping an eye on you at the parks this week to hopefully thank you in person! Your explanation was absolutely the best! We just cut 4 hrs on a LL!!! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Awesome! Well played. 😎 Thanks so much for taking the time to let us know how your trip is going. I’ll be in the parks a lot over the weekend. If our paths cross, please say hello! Best wishes for a magical 2024! 😃🎉🎊
Rob, Thanks for the update!!
Thanks Rob, keep up the good work and have a wonderful Christmas x from the UK 😊
Thanks, Tracey! Sending you our best wishes for a magical Christmas, as well. 🎄

So glad to hear it - hope you have an amazing vacation!
Thank you so much for all of your videos!!! 77 more days until my trip. Feels like forever....
We're not going back till the beginning of May 😅 my 6 year old loves counting down the days on our Disney board
Thanks so much, you are always so informative!
Thank YOU for watching! 😃
you make the best disney videos. my daughter and I were able to ride everything we wanted to thanks to all of your tips and advice. preciate you.
I’m so glad to hear that. Thank you for taking the time to share how your trip went. Hope you have a happy holiday season! 😅
We are going to Disney world for the first time in October 2024! We will definitely watch all your updates and tips for our trip! Thank you!
Thanks for watching! 😃
That is definitely some great news for people headed down for vacations. Should make it a bit more fun and less stressful now. Great Video 😀
Yup - I hope so. Some folks have wondered if this will make the VQs a lot harder to book at 7am. I kinda doubt it will make it so hard that you can’t get one if you try right at 7, though.
Thank you for the update. 🎉
Thank YOU for watching! 😃
Thanks Rob - merry Christmas to Ear Scouts
Thank you for watching and merry Christmas to you and your family, as well! 🎄
Hello Rob - Happy Holidays!
My dad is a HUGE fan of yours, and I was hoping you could wish him a Merry Christmas for the holiday season. He loves watching your videos, and obviously LOVES Disney as well! His name is Todd!
Thanks, and again, happy holidays to you!
Merry Christmas to you and Todd! Thanks so much for watching our videos. Here is a special one for you: ua-cam.com/video/DH_X8wtICcw/v-deo.html
Love your videos Have you ever used standby skipper if so pros and cons?
Happy holidays!
Happy holidays to you, as well - and a happy new year! 🎊
Hmmm so the virtual queue competition will be that much greater at 7 am.
Thank you for your videos they are absolutely amazing!
It will definitely be a bit more competitive, but we actually haven’t had a problem booking it lately. It is a LOT less competitive than it was when the rides opened (especially Guardians). I’m guessing they’ll be dropping the VQ for that one soon-ish. Thanks for watching! 😃
if you get a virtual que boarding time , can you try for another at 1pm and possibly ride twice that day? thanks. love your videos could you post the link for your video on how to use the virtual que's please?
I know I'm late to the game here but I just have to say that I absolutely love your Mickey ears! I am really excited for these changes when I'm able to get myself back to Walt Disney World either this year or next year (now I just need flights from Canada to be significantly reduced, LOL).
I love your videos! Is there a place where you can see what the expected numbers/busy for each park so we could chose the one with less expected people? Thanks!
always try and avoid saturday and sundays plus any major holidays/ school breaks. best days are usually tuesday- thursday
That sucks about needing park reservations with the tickets that we are going to use. I was hoping to try for VQ at Guardians every morning, but heading to other parks if we didn't get it or if we got a late boarding group. Now I have to rethink the plan. Thanks for the update though!
Hi Beth - as long as your tickets include park hopping, you can try for Guardians no matter which park you make a reservation for and since park hopping is now all-day, you can hop to Epcot when your group gets called.
We got both tron and guardians each time we tried on our recent trip.
I hate staying glued to a phone so for me, it’s worth just buying the individual lane and going to MK for two of the days of my trip so I can take my time and not have to obsess over my phone.
To each their own. But your guises still rock!
Could you do a video explaining what “stacking” lighting lanes means and how or why you’d do that?
If you search the channel they have a video on it 👏
I subbed. Can you please keep us informed if Disney Genie goes the way of the older Fastpass setup?
We'll be there in a couple months and planning in advance would be a huge burden lifted.
We will make a video as soon as we know anything. Thanks so much for subscribing and happy new year! 🎊
Hi Rob, wont this make it harder to get a VQ? As more people will be attempting to snag the same number of seats?
Thank you for this info video. I am a season passholder so if I am understanding this I still have to make a park reservation?
Unless it is a “good to go” day, yes. There will apparently be a calendar of these good to go days starting January 11. Thanks for watching! 😃
I don't like the idea of having to make FastPass reservations 60 days in advance of your trip. It means you're locked into going to those parks and can't make the decision whilst you're actually there.
I would kill to be too choose our first 3 genie + reservations. We're going back in May. With 3 kids. Any way I can set a schedule I'll happy to do so. I don't think you have to use it
It’s interesting to hear both perspectives. Since I am a passholder and visit frequently, it will definitely not be a good change for me. This will make it harder to get good Lightning Lanes for those who don’t book far in advance. But I also know that it removes a lot of stress from folks who are able to plan a vacation months out and know exactly what they want.
💯 agreed with you! That 60 days system was a headache in the past and will be again in the future. I miss the days when visiting Disney Parks were just a free and fun experience.
@@Mr17051963 are they saying you have to do it? I wouldn't think they would make you make those decisions if you don't want to that way
Correct - you wouldn’t have to, but the best Lightning Lanes would likely be booked by the time you got to the parks and decided where you wanted to go. Hopefully they will hold back a set of Lightning Lanes for folks booking on the morning of. 🤞
To do both rides the same day you'd have to hope the first boarding group occurs before 1pm in order for you to park hop before the 1pm deadline. Still stressful though.
We almost always get a boarding group that is called around park open these days for Guardians. It has not been as competitive as it used to be. That will change somewhat with more people eligible to join, but I think it will still be easy to get one that is called before noon.
We just visited Epcot on Tuesday, January 23, 2024. We joined the VQ at 7:00 am and received boarding group 91-97. Our boarding group was not called until 3:30 pm! Also, while we were waiting in line the ride broke down for about 30 minutes. We finally made it on the ride around 5:30 pm. I'm guessing the ride went down a few times that day? Maybe they were only using one boarding side all day too? Regardless, this was an amazing ride and totally worth it! It was our first time and we didn't really know what to expect. We decided we'll spring for ILL next time because the ride is definitely worth it. Thank you for all of your hard work! I planned our first family trip to WDW with our five year old and we had a great time because of all of your Genie+ tips and other detailed videos! Thank you!!! @@EarScouts
Rob! My daughter and I will be at disneyworld on Thursday and Friday. Any way we can meet you? Meet up for lunch? We just want to say thank you for all of your magical knowledge with some yummy lunch!
Hello! I will be at Ft. Wilderness tomorrow night to see Hoop-Dee-Doo and I’m not sure where I will be Friday. Maybe Epcot to film some resort stuff at Boardwalk and Beach Club. Hopefully our paths will cross!
For the virtual queue, I have an oddly specific question (I know it seems a bit stupid but it’s more just to get the information). Would you be eligible to apply for a virtual queue you are NOT in the park for, even if you don’t have a park hopper pass? How exactly would that even work? Since you wouldn’t have access to park hopping and you’re not physically in that park it could be a bit confusing for the tourists who may not know what ride is where and think “Oh I booked for Guardians!” when they’re not going to Epcot at all and have no park hopping.
My guess is that the system would automatically cancel a VBG for a guest with a non-park hopper ticket when they enter a different park. Or maybe it will ask if you want to upgrade to park hopper or cancel instead?
I hope they don’t change Genie with the advance thing….its nice not feeling that pressure…. Plus I can’t imagine how that would work with no park reservation and park hopping
I know a lot of people really want that ability to pre-book back. That said, I think it will make things a lot worse for those who don’t plan a Disney day out months in advance.
Why is this good news? This means more people will be after the virtual queues therefore harder to get.
Fair point, but I haven’t had a hard time getting Virtual Queues for many months now. I honestly can’t remember the last time I failed to get one at 7am. The demand is not nearly as high as it was in the past, so it should just make it easier for folks to plan a day that involves multiple parks and still get to experience TRON & Guardians.
Nice
Thanks for watching! 😃
Always the most informative. I just wish they’d get rid of virtual queues. They are so annoying.
There’s good and bad with it. Without virtual queue, the line would likely be hours long. In that case I’d rather have the virtual queue.
When you say that we can do the virtual queue as long we have entered the specific “queue park” once throughout the day, does that mean we can park hop to a different park and attempt to join the queue there?
Did you ever find out the answer to this? Curious if we did 7am VQ for Guardians then rope drop Magic Kingdom for a couple hours then head to Epcot…wondering if we get do 1pm VQ for Tron while inside Epcot since already were in Magic Kingdom.
I’ve heard yes and no from two different people. 😊
so virtual que is diff from geannie?
I was just there a couple of weeks ago for my birthday and now I'm coming back in March for 3 nights with the new boyfriend. I had Genie+ down to a science. Will be interesting to see what changes will come and when!
I’m really looking forward to hearing how this new system will work. Though I hope it won’t be as drastic as FP+ was. Booking a week out would be ideal - and ideally for just 1-2 Lightning Lanes.
@@EarScouts I remember being one of the first to try out FP+. We just happened to be staying at the right resort at the right time! Not everyone even had a magic band yet.
@@triton6127 Very cool - do you remember what month/year that trip was? Had they officially launched it yet or was everyone else using the paper FastPass still?
@@EarScouts It was February of 2014. I want to say MDE and FP+ were up and running, but only certain resorts were offered Magic Bands (I was at Beach Club Villas) and maybe we were the only ones who had the ability to reserve ahead of time. I have pictures where you can see the old style MB and another one with a FP+ kiosk set up in Tomorrowland with a CM dedicated solely to Swan and Dolphin guests. I don’t think they were fully integrated yet. I also remember getting an email asking if I wanted to participate in a trial using FP+ to get into Be Our Guest for lunch. It was awesome! Walked right by that long long line of people waiting. (Back in the day when lunch was modified counter service.) Just thinking how great it is to have folks like you nowadays figuring out the new tech and giving us tips and tricks!
@triton6127 very cool - thanks for sharing!
I would like it to be the first LL of the day, for each day you get Genie+. I'm not a morning person, so having to wait to midnight to ourchase Genie+, then get up at 6:45 so I can schedule the first one, is just painful. Being able to know I have a 9am at the park, and just walk to the ride when I get there? I would pay for that.
I would agree with this - so long as it is not booked too far out. Maybe a week ahead for all guests and they can do 10 days out for hotel guests if they want it to be a perk again like it was with FP+.
@@EarScouts See I believe this is exactly what will happen. Instead of having a chance to book it, they will all be already sold out. To me this does NOT sound like a positive modification at all...
Im not staying at a Disney resort, I am a new AP. If I want Tron, as long as I visited MK that morning I don’t need to be at the park at 1pm? I can be at Animal Kingdom and still be able to do the 1pm virtual que for tron? Thanks 🎉 Going to Disney in 8 weeks❤
@@MichaelP.Stotesbery You didn't say whether or not your ticket requires a theme park reservation. We were only able to join the Guardians 7 AM VQ if we had a theme park reservations for Epcot. See my March 6 post for more details.
I already purchased tickets for 9/6/24-9/9/24 so even though I purchased them over the phone. I no longer need to pick reserve spots in park like in previous years?
Correct - if your tickets are tied to certain dates, you no longer need to bother with park passes. Thanks for watching! 😃
@@EarScouts My tickets are for days 9/6-9/9/24, I don’t have passes there just standard tickets for those days. I ordered over the phone with Disney, so I’m sure if they had to reserve dates they would have given the dates I said I was attending the park.
I really hope they don’t go back to that system. The only change id wanna see is for it to be cheaper….or be like maxpass in Disneyland
Do you know how tron will work with after hours event? Going to the on in January and have no clue how to navigate that with the virtual queue.
Hello! Pretty sure they will have a dedicated VQ for After Hours, but we’ll be going the first night and we’ll let everyone know how it goes with a video. Thanks for watching! 😃
Thank you for the reply. I just read on the app the following: Please be aware that TRON Lightcycle / Run presented by Enterprise plans to use a standby queue during this event.
So that will be awesome! Thanks for the videos and tips have really helped me navigate my first time to DW.
I appreciate your video, but the fact that you can't just go to the park and get in line for either of those rides is absolute b*******... There I said it LOL again your video is really informative though so thank you. 😁
So.. they made a horribly confusing and inconvenient system a titsy tiny bit less horribly confusing und inconvenient.... No WIN here.
If TRON and Guardians did not have virtual queues, they would have had 3-5 hour waits like Rise of the Resistance and Flight of Passage did this past week. I ride TRON and Guardians whenever I want and when I want to ride Rise or FOP, I often don’t because the line is not worth it. It may be possible for them to streamline the system a bit more, but I love virtual queues and am sad when they end.
Disney still makes this a hassle at every park every day, before and during your stay. Universals system works really well and it is easy...I know management is missing the magic when they can not get this right...Now they are loosening money and their answer is to go back in time to a system people did not like then. Planing your passes months before you go is not the way to go...did I bring up Universal? Is it just the greed and not caring about the guest experience, you would think the stock holders would vote out this group, or split out the Parks from the other messes and appoint some creative persons. Those who might know what it is to be a guest, forking out thousands of dollars looking for a little magic. WCDB
Universal’s pay to skip pass costs multiple times what Genie+ costs, so your comments about Disney’s “greed” makes no sense
