Elena Pinderhughes is simply fantastic. Her tone, her lines, her rhythmic ideas, captivating with every note, all played with such lightness -- she's got it all.
agreed 100%. Her first solo really caught my attention. She is listening to every single note and was able to use Herbie Hancock's accompaniment to develop very interesting lines (not only showing off her excellent ears!)
Truly this is exactly why I love jazz so very much. This concert Just exudes The epitome of excellent skillful musicianship and class Herbie has always surrounded himself with the best musicians and this group is certainly no exception. I could listen to this band all day. Thank you so much for posting this.
This guy is a badass guitarist. I've seen another show before, but this one in particular caught my attention because of all the musicians on this stage, a flutist, a drummer from another world and a great bass player too. The first songs are very mysterious and the way they play is very tight and groove, even with the strange tempos and changes. Herbie is a maestro as well!
Lionel Loueke is in a class all by himself. I first saw him in NY about 15 years ago in a solo performance and was absolutely blown away! I'm a guitarist myself and had never heard 15/4/3 tempos etc.
Blown away by Elena! Yes her tone, her lines, her rhythmic ideas and how about her ears. Her dialogue with Herbie near the end of Footprints is ridiculous!
@@budda777pl I warmly appreciate your opinion. Everyone has their own musical tastes which cannot be forced to be the same and which do not need to be debated.
Herbie countinues his legacy and the legacies of Wayne Shorter via "Footprints" and Miles Davis who was truly engaging and impromptu with the members of his bands. Far too often it is unrealized what goes into the makings of music artistry. This concert is a testament to innovative energy and devotion to the art.
Awesome Sauce Personified with exemplary musicians each and every one!!! Herbie just stands the test of time like NO OTHER in Jazz and he's STILL the epitome of creative excellence!!! Major Ups Herbie, you are timeless!!!
Maybe I've been under a rock or something but it seems like after the Hubert Laws/Yusef Lateef era, there have been few flautists making headlines in jazz

Miles once said that Herbie could be the next Duke! This music exited from Herbie’s explorations found in “Speak Like a Child” and “The Prisoner”-pure genius.

Este é um dos artistas que não para de me surpreender! Que maravilhoso concerto! E tem também uma excelente produção! Bom som e harmoniosamente misturados todos os instrumentos. Parabéns e obrigado!
I have attended this your twice and heard other shows on this tour leg but it's interesting how the music is played differently based on the audience. This is my fave and the playing is not harsh, very soft. Other versions of this concert was harder in the playing. I love this!
Unbelievable!!! All Masters of fantastic Transmission by Music! And Herbie has always been a master for this , coming from Miles's heritage, as he often said... Hope every body enjoy!!😊😎
I don't think advertisements should interrupt live concert recordings. Not only are these ads unrelated, but they're also excessively loud. It was startling to encounter a commercial less than five minutes into the live performance. This completely spoiled the experience, and I can't grasp why ads are disrupting this live music recording.
Unfortunately it’s not up to the person who uploaded this what ads play and when they play. Most are targeted ads. I understand it’s frustrating but this is a UA-cam issue
Does anybody know anything about the piece credited here as "Phoelix"? Was it ever recorded? Under a different name? It's stunning! But I can't find a studio recording of it...
It would be fair to write those names correctly. So... On drums, we have Trevor Lawrence Jr. So there's not a confusion with the american football player.. not bad eh ? On electric bass guitar we have a true genius of this instrument, in the person of James Genus. Here, the "i" makes no difference, but it does... understand me if you can ! Isn't it better this way, when proper names go to proper folks ? My pleasure...
He was here in DETROIT and WOW I got a chance to see him what great performance didn't want them to stop.
History has given us many great pianists, but there is only ONE Herbie Hancock!!! Long live this super Jazz master!!!

James is killing! As always...
Herbie is one and only. Equally important in jazz as Miles.
Without Miles Herbie would not be the artist he is! He would be good but not as great as he is, why would you say some shit like that?

Wish Herbie great health for decades to come.

In 2024, Herbie needs to release this album he has been working on since 2016. Phoelix needs to be the single
Phoelix is unreal!!!
Lionel loueke on guitar one of the greats , I’ve never heard the flute player before but she’s really something
great-job, herbie & masters...

The vocoder part just proves how precious this man is...
I'm not guitarist even not musician but I worship Lionel Loueke. His technique beyond my imagination.
If you are not a musical, how can you tell? I am a drummer and to be honest I don't like his style especially.
