RIP to my beloved uncle Melvin Ragin aka Wah Wah Watson!! The GOAT!!!! Love you and miss you dearly!!!
Rip to him. I like how you honor him.
@@vancebacri5894Thanks Vance!!!!
I learnt something from him today, from his performance of Hang Up Your Hang ups in '76.. 🙂
@@GNARGNARHEAD Awesome!!!! Yeah influenced a lot of people and still does from the grave!!!! Thanks!!!!!
Oh man - he’s my favorite .
He was always moving to the beat - one could cut the sound and tell what’s up by just watching him .
His inspiration to other guitarist is incalculable.
God Bless .
N´DUGU WAS A GENIUS ! HE´S GOT THE BEAT !!
Music this good is the reason I get out of bed and keep going...
Wah-Wah Watson is incredible!!!!!!
This rhythm section is LOCKED AND LOADED. The groove never waivers.
100000% KILLER!!!!
everybody is the rhythm section
yes, merciless :))
Herbie Hancock: Genius. And that hairline is still magnificently stable after all these years filling the earth with music! Splendid!
We love Herbie. But this one is amazing, truly mind blowing. What a fantastic band on fire!
Good lord that bass is crunchy sounding. Nice
that is one of the nicest bass sounds and playing I've ever heard!
@@lorenzrosenthal119 Of course, it's Darryl "The Much" Jones. Great sound.
Peace and love my friend Ndugu Chancle. RIP
the rhythm section, oh my God...
Groove so deep that keyboard bout to fall down...
I m listening over and over again, fucking great.
An incredible chemistry between these musicians, a groove that never lets up, and rising emotions that take me by the throat. And besides, they have fun! Absolutely fantastic!
Wah wah's "in the groove" head nods and neck jerks to get that extra sharpness out of each strum..
this is called perfection.....
Wah Wah forever...a sound created which last forever and ever
no doubt
This is funky as HELL
Ndugu....tastleful drummer....nice....Great band.
And Bill Evans... a living legend.
That pocket is so fu==ing deep, what a band.
Bill Evans masterclass
One of the best concerts i ever saw and one of the tightest rhythm sections ever!!! Cretative, innovative and breath taking!
Bill Evans sounds great on soprano.
Oh yessssss !!!! Mr. Hancock and the Headhunters on ultra point hands down !!!!
Didn't know Rolling Stones bass dude used to groove with Herbie. Just goes to show you how universal the expressions of music, particularly the low-end, can be irrespective of genres. Roll on Brother Daryl...roll on!👑🎸🎵
if it sounds good to you IS all that matters! its ear candy.Personally,I love jazz fusion
He played and recorded with Miles Davis and John Scofield too, and Sting!
Whats the low end?
Rodrick Dubose ‘the bass’ is considered the ‘low end’
@@robertklouse3868 Me too!!
HE WAS AN UNBEATABLE BLASTING BEAST OF THE BEAT ! NO ONE WAS BETTER ; I BET HE WAS THE BEST !!
Great stuff! Bill Evans (The Alternative Man) on sax. Good lineup all the way around!
Holy smoking amaze balls ... the rhythm section is off the muthlovin' charts!!! Insane bass. Telepathic drumming. Herbie could've sat this one out. Incredible!
MASTERS
I have no words !
Одна из моих любимейших вещей. Раньше слушал только студийную запись. В 70-х годах самое начало было использовано в Ереванской музыкальной телепрограмме с названием " 22-30"
Oh yeah! Ecstatic! Very inSpidered!
God bless Leon “Ndugu” Chanceler who was driven to the limits by George Duke and Herbie. Rip
RIP NDUGU!!
You can enjoy his concerts playing the drums with Herbie Hancock (goo.gl/AFa1rA) or with Carlos Santana (goo.gl/38jhpV) :)
How I Love this vertically mounted Ride cymbal ! Ndugu, one of my all time favorites !!
Ndugu baby!
he and daryl, what a tension! woah! a blast!
You funky, Herbie.
thought u knew
Wild performance. I love at the end there how the band are just so focused on keeping that groove, but Herbie in his solo keeps throwing rhythmic bombs and trying to steer them in another direction. Creates an amazing slow burning tension, finally release when Herbie joins in with the groove at the end.
Mino Cinelu ! I LOVE !
I saw him many years ago, with Weather Report
Great to see the Late and Great Ndugu Chancler on Drums. Great HD video.
aristatibb7 😊
It's a beautiful thing.
Wah Wah Watson is also deceased now.
Check out Spider VSOP for the legendary Paul Jackson Bass funk just for some perspective.
What FANTASTICALLY gorgeous, TIGHT arrangement. HERBIE'S not only on form -- OK, when ISN'T he? -- but his solo accompaniment with Cunelu is indescribably OUT OF THIS WORLD.
Thank you so much for sharing this video!
We are glad you like it! :)
there is a spiritual groove movement at about 4:00 and right at 9:23 you can feel it all around you
yeees, lifting you up and up...
Relentless
Absolutely Genius
Superb performance
Darryl jones is cool to people when he dont have to be. I appreciated that about him. Sweet guy.
SWAMP RAT perfect song name
The drummer, funky as hell!
Fantastically exciting track; UNBELIEVABLY imbecilic cameraworj. One could almost come to believe that Herbie himself simply WASN'T THERE that evening!
From 3:36 to 6:51 the groove synergie is too good, and Bill Evans solo so cool...
Bill went mid evil
Wow. All that & PERCUSSION too !!!
Amazing live ! Line up AWESOME ! ❤
Wah Wah funking the bats out of hell. 😂
The Headhunters are undoubtedly one of the grooviest bands ever but this must be one of their most inspired moments. Fabulous!
Great
Bill Evans hooool shieeet that tenor sound!
SUPERBE !
Grove On🎷🎸🎺🎹🎵🎼💯
Super 👍
Gracias por volver a subirlo.terribles músicos .la época dorada del jazz. Fusión
Great concert but the video producer and the cameramen don't seem to be listening, or they have no idea what's going on. Herbie is soloing and they show everyone else. What a shame!
Awesome sound effects!
Fantastic!!
#MINDBLOWNYETAGAIN!
sensationel
❤❤❤❤
COOL! I hear a lot of Miles Davis in his electric period in this music, which is not surprising since Herbie played with him.
Steven Flores Darryl Jones and Bill Evans played also with Miles
❤
16:00 Herbie with the General Midi tones 😂
This fucking rocks lol
2:56 Mr. Wah Wah Watson
Nunca vi a Bill Evans tocando el soprano y sin barba😊😅😅😅😅😅
Wah Wah Watson His sound was Heard on Motown ANd Herbie And Barry White
Second part is Swamp Rat as far as I recollect 🤔
The main main man is Herbie and they focus on others what's up.
The producer and the cameramen have no idea what's going on. They are not listening to who's playing.
@@SantAgusti16 Yeah I found that BLOODY ANNOYING as well. All the more so because Herbie's in classic GENIUS mode on this track: VERY arachnoid. INTENSELY, THRILLINGLY creepy steel drum simulation!
Estos no son los headhunters!!!! donde esta Bennie Maupin, Mike Clark, Bill Summers y Paul Jackson????
The geatest pianist alive
Certainly the most EXCITING pianist, for my money, and surely that's what it's all about, in modern jazz. McCoy Tuner also, albeit stylistically speaking TOTALLY different!
Should have read McCoy TYNER, of course!! 😄
imagine going to math class and getting this
👏🏾👏🏾
MIN 13:55 QUE VIRTUOSISMO!!!!!!!!!!
ワー・ワー・ワトソン以外は全員マイルスつながりだね。いやあ、もっと聴きたいなあ。
Nothing against Evans, but where's Benny Maupin?
Bill is untouchable.
Pirate shirt sax fashion AND the Cosby sweater distracted me - otherwise rad to the max!
Why this line up? Where was Paul Jackson? Bennie Maupin? James Levi? At least they had wah wah watson
I guess Bill evans wanted to be a Headhunter so bad he gave up the ivories for some golden keys
Wrong Bill Evans
20:55 BATMAN!
4 people clap on 1 and 3
Quite hard to look past that horrendous DX7 “rhodes” sound. Thank god it was passing phase. But yeah, I also sold my Rhodes back then and went all DX7 (+TX7 x2).🤷🏼♂️😄
It should be noted that none of the people playing with Herbie had anything to do with the original Headhunters group.
Wah Wah Watson was on the original recording of this I think you’ll find
True.. though to me Headhunters = S/T and Thrust. I suppose Maupin and Jackson did also play on Secrets. But man, those two albums.. such a vibe.
We were lucky enough to see most iterations of the 70s Hancock bands in London, and yes, such a vibe! Happy memories too.
Yes you are absolutely right he was, he also a co-writer on the song with Paul Jackson.
This group is great, though!
Каждый сам себе композитор.
Ivy Harvard University guest Herbie Hancock zodiac Cancer plum ?
shamalama
Somebody"'s been peepin Weather Report, jus sayin...
Although Joe could never do those aharmonic runs like Herbie, imho...
29:18 : Mino Cilenu doesn't want to take a chorus :')
No Paul Jackson not the Headhunters 💯
To a jazz musican playing with the stones is a low point in ones career.
I’m sure he’s not complaining!🤣
Saul Goodman on soprano...
Great band, but these 'aint the Headhunters, Herbie
just a version
