  • Well it’s certainly been a while but we are BACK AT IT trying to find out which sole cause is the best sole sauce on the market!
    .
    In today’s episode, I will be working on a pair of Air Jordan 6 UNCs to try to restore the “icy pods” on the sole of the shoe. While this shoe is not an especially old shoe, it was been well worn and as such, the soles have started to yellow rather substantially. I felt like this was a perfect pair to work on because I knew I was going to be able to be able to successfully de-yellow the pair and I felt like it would give a perfect comparison of the two different products.
    .
    Tune in to see which of the two products did better with icing these AJ6 after two 48 hour sessions in my indoor ice box!

    Yup I knew it, after buying a bottle of fabes is basically rebottled 40 salon creme. Multiple brands do that smh

      While I don't know that it's *exactly* Salon Care 40, there are a LOT of similarities. That's the whole purpose behind the series though! Trying to explore to see if there is any good reason to purchase more expensive sauces and run some experiments to see what gives the best bang for the buck! Thanks for the support and appreciate you tuning in!

    I'm so glad I seen this video before I applied my 1st ever coat of icing. I now know that you can never get that blueish icy tint that the sneakers have new. I would have been so disappointed had I not seen this

      Glad I could help! Hope that your results turned out well! While many shoes will get a LOT better, achieving original factory coloration and tint may never be achieved on some pairs depending on a number of factors

      Hard to say why without seeing your setup. Are you using an indoor setup? If so, is your light the appropriate wattage? Are you ensuring light, even coats of sauce? Are you Saran wrapping the sauce so that it doesn’t dehydrate during the process? Are you ensuring that the soles have appropriate exposure to the UV light? It’s also possible that they’re just so well worn and oxidized that they can’t be brought back. Just a few ideas off too but I’d have to know more to give a more specific answer

      @@SailboatSupplies yow what happens after you use sole sauce? I mean some say that using sole sauce also makes the yellowing process of the soles fast.

    • @SailboatSupplies
      @SailboatSupplies  Рік тому +1

      @@i.vengeance I’m not sure I fully understand the question but will try my best to answer based on my interpretation.
      After using sole sauce, you SHOULD see some deyellowing/icing of the shoes you were working on. It is possible for a shoe to be “too far gone” and yellowed to the point where it will not revert back to its original color. MOST shoes will achieve *some* results but a number of factors will determine how much icing will actually occur (including age, amount of wear, condition of surfaces worn on, storage, cleaning after wearing, type of material, and more)
      Icing/deyellowing is never a permanent process- discoloration/yellowing is bound to return over time. The aforementioned factors (age, storage, amount of wear, surfaces worn on, etc.) all effect how quickly sneakers will yellow again.
      Traditionally, sneakers will yellow more quickly the second time around. This is due to the fact that they’re aged, and more worn typically. Some sauces do a better job at preventing yellowing from returning for longer. Many times, because a pair will yellow more quickly than it did the first time (due to age and wear) people attribute this to the sole sauce and say “the sauce made my shoes get yellow quicker the next time” but this is, from my knowledge and understanding, a false statement. Those sneakers are simply yellowing more quickly because they’re older and more worn NOT because they have been iced.
      An example would be if you take the same pair of shoes and keep a pair deadstock for multiple years and wear the other pair. If you store them in the same environment with the same temperature, humidity, etc, you will see that they will both yellow but the worn pair will yellow more quickly. If you were to ice both pairs, they will both eventually yellow again BUT the worn pair will likely yellow more quickly due to wear and tear and exposure to oils/dirts/the elements.
      Hope this helps answer your question.

      @@SailboatSupplies appreciate your answer bro! I'm asking because I recently found out that the soles of my chuck Taylor 2s are starting to yellow.
      I haven't used them since the pandemic started because I don't get out very often. Maybe I'll try to ice them, wish me luck and thank you so much!

    What sole sauce do you prefer more?

    • @SailboatSupplies
      @SailboatSupplies  11 місяців тому

      NuAntidote is my favorite when it comes to generalized cleaning and deoxidation; I find that to be the least harmful and therefore the most safe when it comes to deyellowing. As far as a straight sole sauce, CCK is my favorite.

    Hey I used angelus sole bright on my infrared 6s to ice, the yellowing cleared up but it left streaks on the part where the visible air unit is. That was about a month ago and I cleaned them, those streaks are still there. Any idea how to remove the streaks and how that even happened in the first place. I would really appreciate your input

    • @SailboatSupplies
      @SailboatSupplies  2 роки тому

      Are the streaks on the translucent portion that wraps up around the air units or on the painted area surrounding the air units?
      Sauce can cause damage to paint which is why it must be applied with care.
      If its around the translucent part that surrounds the air unit, the sauce may have dripped and penetrated deeper causing for more "icing" to occur on the sections where the sauce "dripped".
      In order to fully answer the question, I would need to see a picture; you can feel free to DM me on IG @SailboatSupplies with pics and I can try to help more!
