Great video! It’s awesome to see you to take the time to compare 2 sole sauces. A lot of the shoes I’ve seen done on Instagram specifically by other sole sauce brands is that their results are on shoes that are at least barely worn. So it’s hard to see how good a product actually is
thank you so much! I intend on really expanding this series quite a bit as well but needed to start with the basics! one of the limiting factors is that I only get so many yellowed shoes in inventory so I need to wait until I have yellowed pairs before I can make the next video in the series! 🤣
Please do a video on your "Ice Box" setup or if you already have one please put up a link. I just bought a Uv light but I see you have foil in the box too...Thanks
Most shoes will not completely revert back to “factory” after yellowing. There is a better chance with shoes that are deadstock and have yellowed solely due to age or poor storage conditions but shoes that have been worn have oils and other chemicals and dirt and grime that quite literally leech into the rubber. As such, worn shoes traditionally will deyellow quite substantially, but will never return to “factory”. That’s not to say there it’s not possible, but most of the time, it’s highly unlikely.
Great video love the content. Quick question how do i apply the sauce to the side of the bottom of soles, like where it connects with the rest of the shoe, or should i jus only apply to the bottom and the process will clean that upper part as well naturally?
thank you so much for the love and support! Great question; I normally do very very very light layers. You need to do it light enough that there is NO question that it won't run... too much, it will run onto the uppers and you risk damaging the shoes. A super thin layer can also aid with getting the cling wrap to stick
Have you ever iced jordan 6s? I used sole bright, indoor setup and got great results. However on the medial and later parts of the midsole there are streaks. I iced them about a month ago and they are still there. Cleaned them and scrubbed them and still there. Any idea what might have happened or what I did wrong?
I don’t know that I fully understand exactly what you’re saying/asking. In my personal experience, Raleigh’s seems to work better for me personally than angelus. Regardless of what sauce you use, yellowing will return. How long takes to return is dependent on a number of factors including age, storage, previous wear, how well maintained the sneakers were, what surfaces they were worn on, and more. The best thing you can do to avoid yellowing is to make sure you care for your shoes by cleaning them regularly, taking care to avoid heavily soiled surfaces (especially surfaces with a lot of oil, chemicals, salt, etc.) and storing them properly
that's a great question! I have never personally tried; I have always had a LOT of success with my current light and outside of using sunlight, I haven't tried another UV source. I'd imagine it would but probably wouldn't achieve results as thorough or quickly.
ICE ICE BABY!! 🧊🧊 I just started my indoor setup and got two pairs going. I’ve been doing 24-hour sessions and I’m 4 days in. Results are good but I’m hoping to get complete ice by day 7 or 8. Have you ever gotten a pair to factory ice from piss yellow? If so, how long did it take? I’m looking forward to more vids in this series, I just sub’d. Keep it up! 👍🏽
every shoe has a limit to how icy it can get. These limits are based on age, wear, condition of surfaces worn on, frequency/intensity of cleaning after wear, storage location, and more. Some shoes that are piss yellow *can* turn back to a complete ice but I find that *most* of the time, kicks will not turn back to the 100% OG look unless relatively new and really lightly worn. I usually do no more than 3-4 48 hour sessions although it honestly depends on the pair and condition. Can't wait to see the results of your project! shoot pics or tag me on IG when you finish!
@@SailboatSupplies I wonder if you completely took off the icy sole if it would have drastic improvements to your result by applying the sauce on the bottom and the inner portion that attaches to the mid sole. Worth a R&D trial run?
oxidation is unfortunately inevitable on all pairs. It can be slowed but not stopped. To best slow oxidation, kicks should be stored in a cool, dry place away from other chemicals. Direct sunlight can also lead to material breakdown and may lead to premature yellowing and sunbleaching of different components of the shoes. For worn shoes, it's imperative to clean them before storage. Oils, dirt, etc can all get into the pores of the shoes causing for more rapid oxidation. I would recommend maintaining worn sneakers to the best of your ability and cleaning them regularly to reduce overall oxidation
@@SailboatSupplies man appreciate the feedback, I have one more question, I have the white cement son of mars and am working on them, right below the leather on the upper its yellowish, I don't believe its leather, but can I use the 40 volume on it? thanks
@@marathonlogistics9943 I don’t use sauce on anything EXCEPT rubber surfaces. While it *may* be safe, I always stay on more cautious end of the spectrum for non-rubber icing, NuLife kicks “NuAntidote” is the way to go! A safe cleaner that will help with the deoxidation process.
@@SailboatSupplies wow, 24 a bottle, lol, I will use a little bit at a time, and let you know the results, since I will be using the sun . Love your channel bro!
at 1:36 what's the tool that you used to clean the soles of the shoes?? Looks like it saves time compared to using a regular brush Also aside from that great vid! I live in the UK so Salon Care 40 isn't as available (you have to get a license to purchase it), so RR was the only option, but after I'm gonnaa look to see if I can get some
It's called a Dremel Versa! It works well, I'm still getting used to it to be honest and feel like I do a better manual job but for like nasty gunk and just big chunky stuff this does amazing. It also really depends on the surface youre using it on. Thank you for the support! I would definitely recommend to watch upcoming episodes and see the other products I use so you can try to find out the "best" product that's available to you in the UK! Cheers!
Saloncare40 sucks it didn’t do sht for me maybe I do need more sessions but damn. I tried it on yeezy creams but nothing. Maybe I should try angelus instead of either of these
I would definitely recommend something different; sneaker care has evolved immensely and there are far superior products on the market that work better and are less dangerous/damaging to your sneakers
@@SailboatSupplies what do you recommend. Also some idiot I bought a pair from had painted orange stripes on the bottom sides of the soles. Should I use acetone
To be honest, I don't know! I may give it another shot with some other sauces to see what happens. I have a feeling these weren't taken care of all that well as the outsole is also peeling off at the toe cap so something tells me that a big factor in this episode was previous care/wear. We'll see though! I wanna get a few more episodes done first before I revisit these.
I just recently iced my concord 11 lows , everything came out amazing but when I feel the traction pads it seems as if they lost grip. Is there anyway to reverse or fix this?
From my understanding, time and wear will help. The friction from the surface of the ground will gradually wear down the sole slightly and the underrating layers of rubber should be more grippy. The loss of traction can happen with products not made specifically for sneaker use and can also happen if you don’t clean off sauce between sessions, if you’re icing without temperature control, and if you leave sauce on TOO long.
agreed, it's my personal favorite. I'm going to continue to do ALL shoes in this series for 4 days for the sake of consistency, but I completely agree, normally after 24-48 hours, CCK does WONDERS

Coming soon! I’ll have an episode on this in the next several weeks! Thanks for the suggestion!
Sweet vid Sailboat!
thanks cuz! i'm a huge fan of this series so far. I can't wait for more episodes!!!
So how long would you have to ice those for them to get back to factory looking icy soles

Angelus also last long or its still they same as oxidiser after a week it back to yellow

Best way piant the shoes Anegelus sneaker paint
I really like angelus for paint products but I find their sole bright sole sauce inferior to other sole sauces

Let's go salon care 40
it definitely took the W this round IMO. We'll see how it fares against some other well known sauces!
Hey, I’m trying to build an icebox but I wanted to know what specific UV light I should use, thanks.
The wattage is the most important thing. I use a 1500W light. I just bought a cheap one on eBay and it works great!

I have a pair that’s extreme , I’ll send them in for you to experiment with honestly.

How about sole bright from angelus?
