I’ll be having ankle surgery tomorrow to fix my torn ligaments, honestly kinda nervous, couldn’t fall asleep so just watching videos of about experiences of similar surgeries 😅 Thanks so much for making this video, hope your ankle has fully recovered after the surgery! I’m really looking forward to playing soccer painfree once again 🥹
Soccer (&ballet) did me in too! But thank you for your comment! I hope your surgery went well and your recovery smoothly! It can feel like such a long journey in the moment but in retrospect it went by so fast and now I'm basically good as new:)
Thank you for sharing your experience. I really could relate as I to have weak ankles and have suffered multiple sprains as well. You even had me laughing at your double evaluation 🤣 reminded me of when I had a terrible sprain and got home with crutches and tried to set and fell so hard into the chair it flipped over and so did I. I laughed and cried at the same time. I am so glad you healed so well. I pray my foot surgery journey will be as rewarding as yours.❤😊
Thank you so much for this comment, it really means a lot to hear about how sharing my story and struggles can help others who can relate! Wishing you strength and healing in your own journey!
I had the modified Brostrom procedure done on my left ankle last week. I have had chronic ankle instability since I was in middle school. My ankle gave out while trying to get my cat off the fence two weeks ago. That was the last straw for me. Fortunately, urgent Care took X rays saw I had fractured my ankle sometime ago and referred me to a podiatrist. The podiatrist was pretty adamant for me to get the surgery, I was kind of not ready but I eventually decided that it was for the best. I was scheduled for surgery the next week, we are moving in 6 weeks and I didn't have a lot of time to get it done and recover to move. Anyway my doctor was not w fan of hard casts and said it slowed down ankle healing mobility due to atrophy. After 5 days of non weight bearing I was placed in a walking boot. Of course this was decided based on how my ankle was healing and pain. I had hardly any pain and mobility was good enough to do full weight bearing in a boot. I just can't over do it , I still do RICE and I have started ankle exercises when I am out of my boot. Looking back I wish I had done this sooner. I am 42 , so you are smart for advocating for yourself the way you did with your bad ankles at your age! Thanks for sharing your recovery process!
Ur so lucky because I also had many sprains and broke it before but my podiatrist told me to do more physical therapy and denied an mri for me and now I have a follow up appointment because I had another sprain recently and I’m pretty sure there’s no other option now except surgery.
I just got a complete ankle replacement. Like you my injury happened a long time ago. No one knew how tofix it. It was originally the tendons. But over the years it got worst. My ankle would give out regularly. But now it is fixed.
Had the same surgery, plus accessory navicular bone removal, 9 days ago. Get my first caste of 2 replaced on Friday. Glad to hear you’re recovering well!
@@ashleynichole6847 I am in way less pain then I was before the surgery. Now I very rarely have small aches in my ankle, versus before I was in alot of pain every day from just walking around the house. So the surgery was definitely helpful for me, because my ankle is in less pain and it is 100% more stable now.
Thanks for sharing. I am 3 weeks out and will have my plaster splint off in 2 days and go to the cast. You have given me a good look into my next few months.
Omg this is literally what I am currently going through, I’ve been through every non surgical treatment and have been having pain still and still been denied MRI and now I have a follow up later this month with my podiatrist but I’m hoping to be a candidate for the same surgery
I believe i have this too because when i stand my right ankle kinda makes my foot go to the side and when i run too my ankle gives out and rolls ive never had a sprain
I'm not a doctor, but it sounds like what I experienced with Joint Hypermobility, and I would recommend some physical therapy to strengthen the joint and seek an Orthopedic Doctor if that doesn't work! Wishing you strength and healing!
Hows your ankle now is it normal? Any kind of discomfort swealling or skin color changes?? Pls suggest since i m also planning for my cheonic Atfl grade 2 tear surgery but afraid from post operative results
Hello! My ankle now is normal, I can run, jump, and even roll it and it won't roll! My scar is dark pink and about 2.5 inches long, but it is not super noticeable. I am super pleased with how I healed, wishing you luck and health in your recovery!

Did you have a lot of ankle stiffness before or after your surgery? I had a significantly worst injury and still dealing with lot of stiffness months later. Can’t really jump or run.
No stiffness before, but a lot a lot of stiffness afterward! It took a month or two of physical therapy to get back to normal movement and range of motion!
