- I'm back with another video! I finally built a secret gun room! In this video we talk about and describe the process of building one and a final tour of it at completion!
Happy memorial day!
*disclaimer, media in this video was recorded prior to May 31 , 2023.
pistol braces appear in this video. Braces have since been removed and I am in full compliance and in no way advocate the making or use of illegal sbrs. I don't agree with the ruling but I am a law abiding citizen and love my family too much to risk poking the bear. - Розваги
Very nice build. The only drawback is the rather awkward location of the mirror. If I walk into a room with the mirror there, my "something isn't right" alarms go off.
This guy is clearly an idiot. He posted a video of it online for all to see, along with video of what him & his son look like!
Might as well give his guns away at this point. He painted a massive bullseye on his forehead & hung a neon sign above his house that says
FREE GUNS!
I think you only say that due to the fact that we know there is a hidden room there. If it wasn't for that I'm sure you wouldn't think twice about it. Or at least think to you're self that it looks weird but then you will realize the angle of the roof and see that everything their is weird so then it all fits together in a weird way.
Weird place for mirror + weird roof = makes sense ill let it be.
was thinking the same thing. should have been placed more center, huge red flag
That window jammed into the corner of the room would set off my alarm.
I thought the same. It should have been spaced a little off the wall and on the other side.
Great work 👍 if you feel like it, hang a second mirror on the far left for symmetry. Makes it look like the first mirror isn't just randomly stuck up there and psychologically makes you less curious about the choice to put it there.
Not a bad idea, granted the few people I’ve asked (that I trust) to find the secret room have not been able to do so.
@@GreatLakesGunner I think it’s excellent as is, awesome work! Two mirrors would look weird (and draw attention) since your ceiling is slanted. Your current setup is as inconspicuous as it gets! Especially with that extra drywall below, that was a great idea.
I like that great job
I think the mirror is too close to that outside wall, but other than that, awesome job. I am in Michigan as well, and I am really happy that I have a basement.
Good point.
Top tip. If you’re going to make a secret hidden room it’s probably not a good idea to broadcast its location on the internet.
Do you know where this guy lives?
@@Johnjanoszeasy enough in 2023 to find out that info.
Duh
Top tip two. Don’t spend so much money on guns just for them to hang on the wall. If you can’t get the job done with 20 guns, spend the money on training.
@kevinb8572 or let people buy what they want with the money they worked to earn... I have guns I've not shot in years. But sure as heck like looking at them still.
I built something similar after I bought my first house. I added security cameras around my house and connected it all to monitors in the secret room and had all my gear, plate carrier, guns, and cheapest but effective nods I could find. My family and I dealt with a few breakins as a kid so I always dreamt about having a secret room/armory.
I don’t got too much guns but the few guns I have are ones that I really love.
When someone does eventually decide to break into my house I know I would be safe both when I want to fight and when I don’t.
Panic room! Every house should have one!
Only "improvement" that could be suggested would be where the door ended up. It's very well concealed, but the mirror looks odd where it is. Still, the concealment is excellent!
Most people aren't going to notice but the spacing of the windows and placement of the mirror is kinda odd. The illusion is very likely to fool any smash-and grab opportunists that happen to come along if the house were ever empty but if the opportunity ever comes up I would recommend moving the door more towards the center so the mirror placement makes more sense. I know you came up with the mirror thing after laying out the room, I'm just suggesting that if there's a next time, or for anyone who is planning their own room, take that into consideration. Might also consider using an exterior door and placing studs close together or some other way of reinforcing the wall just in case someone ever does discover it it might slow them down enough for the police to get there.
Overall it is still very cool and should still serve it's purpose.
The drawer slides for the mirror was a great idea!
Gettin ready to layout my room & this is a great idea. Awsome job on the construction & utilization of space. A very nice collection,im very impressed.
That's an awesome idea - I'm finishing out my basement and I have a room that's fully enclosed in cement on all 6 sides (minus a doorway) and I was thinking of doing a floor to ceiling, wall to wall bookshelf, but this space, although a home office now, is designed to be a bedroom. So a sliding mirror would make a ton of sense! And I love how you did the floor trim under the entrance.
Outstanding work!! That room will enjoyed so much more because you put your hands on it
Nice work! Looks clean and tidy. I’ve seen other rooms where that have an alarm on the door aswell.
So dope!! I’m so jealous. Nice job 👍🏾
👏that's awesome!! Great idea, nice work!! Congratulations, turned out great!
That came out awesome, man!!! And that's an impressive collection!!
Awesome use of space and great lay out. I'm getting ideas for my gun room. Cheers!
Pretty damn cool, sir. Thank you for sharing it with us.
Very nice man thanks for the helpful ideas!
Very sweet. Glad to see you posting again
Back and motivated!
Looks awesome...great work! 💯
Nice work. I too use shoe organizers to store magazines, and, in the safe, handguns.
Very nice!! Your gun room is awesome!
Looks good I like it! I’m straight stealing your sliding mirror idea!! And it’s legal cause I’m giving you credit 😂👍🏽 I like it better than any store bought ideas and simpler than a book shelf
This looks great. Terrific use of space.
This is awesome!! Thanks for sharing
Glad you liked it 👌
Looks awesome, love the mirror idea.
Nicely done !!
Nice work. Looks great.
That's amazing! great work. Having a closet the kind with mirror doors in front would also work. Then the secrete door in front of the door could be a shoe rack or something like that.
I would love to be capable of building something like this. That’s awesome brother! Love it!
Outstanding!
Looks stinking Awesome- great job & super nice collection
A job well done sir ! 😎👍
This is awesome! I plan to do this one day. I was about to say something about a protection dog, but looks like you got that covered. They are invaluable. They help provide an early warning and in most cases will keep intruders at bay and if it came down to it would attack if you had to go hands on. I can’t imagine not having a protection dog now.
looks amazing ty for the idea
Outstanding !! 👍🏼🥃🇺🇸
That is epic! Absolutely flawless
Hey. Great job. Amazing use of space.
WOWWWWWWWM i suggest reinforce the door, but woowww, this is inspiringggg
Looks amazing. Great idea and one that I would definitely use.
Great job!!!
Absolutely brilliant well done
That’s pretty awesome! Well done man.
John Wick would be proud of you.
Looks good man! Nice job. :-)
that's awesome! great job on that room
Thanks for the ideas. I'm going to do the mirror thing. That's slick,
I kept coming back to the mirror idea, super satisfied with the results!
Great job it looks fantastic. Only thing i would have done different is layed 3/4" plywood over the studs first, would have strengthened the wall. If by chance they find the door and cant kick it in it doesnt take much to go through sheetrock.
Very nice, thank you.
Great job, looks amazing.
Thank you! I’m happy with how it came out.
Awesome job my man! Very well done. I think I might have put the door in the middle of the wall, and maybe used a little wider mirror, put some exercise equipment in the room to make it look more like a workout room, which would “justify” a large mirror in the room.
I like your idea.
that is pretty sweet man! Totally jealous. And shout out to a fellow Michigander 👊
Awesome man 👍🏻
Here's a neat suggestion for security seeing as you were talking about it. Maybe get like a Ring doorbell for specifically inside of that room?
This has already been on my radar, I will be adding another Arlo camera in the gun room as I already have many of their cameras around my property
Excellent job man
Dude! That room looks mint! Now I gotta do this! bc my collection is just piling.
Awesome job ! I wish I had enough room and guns . Maybe one day
Murphy door. I'm using the built-in shelf door. Great product.
Looks great. I’d have to have a little workbench in there with a Vice
well done and looks very professional...
Great job 👍🏻
Looks absolutely killer! Nice job!
Great job. Might I add, hanging identical mirror on the same wall on other end to create symmetry. Further adding to the illusion that it is just a mirror
That my man is AWESOME!!
Nice Job. I'm doing this in a space in my basement but a portion of the wall will be white peg board with some stuff placed on it. The purpose is to allow us to see any aproachers while hiding out.
Great. Love it.
Good day to you man. This is Ted from Texas. I definitely like the fact of having a Gun Room. I don't like the fact that the house burns down there's a good chance of losing all your firearms in the fire. So I ended up going for a really big gun safes that were really Fireproof. But of course I outgrew the big safe I needed a second one. And they are expensive. Especially high security and Fireproof . Thanks for sharing man
Good job bro, It gave me some ideas. Thanks.
Glad to hear it!
Good job dude, gave me some good ideas
Dope build!
Great job!
NICELY DONE!!!
Nice! I’m doing the same to mine and using a hidden book case door.
I thought about doing a bookcase but decided against it as the mirror was just simpler to pull off.
Nice job and nice collection.
Nice job!!
nice job Dude !
Nice job! I probably would have added an outlet on that wall facing the bedroom.
Man you did a awesome job!
very cool man, it looks awesome
Just came across your channel and subbed... I support fellow Michigan folks...
Born and raised 💪
Sweet! Nice work
Have you considered doing something to the rails the mirror slides on to add some initial resistance to movement to avoid an inadvertent "bump" leading to an unintended discovery?
Thinking some clear caulk nubs you'd have to force the rail wheels passed with a little effort.
It slays me! That people build a secret gunroom, and then show thousands of people where it is!
Awesome way to go..
Awesome mate! When I built my hidden room I off set the studs on each side so the drywall wasn't connected to the same set of studs for sound proofing when I'm in there you'd have to listen real hard to hear anything. Also did you place anything around the underside seems of the mirror to block out inside light?
I installed very thin pieces of lauan at the top and bottom to give the drawer slides more meat to mount to so I didn’t blow through the front trim of the mirror. I didn’t need to thankfully, the trim is quite thick and fits snugly against the wall only buffered by the drawer slides and I have very little to no light leak. The interior door on the inside also probably helped with that.
Awesome! Well done.
I like the GSD alarm system!
I'm a General Contractor and I must say very nice build the only thing that I would have done different is I would have fire proofed that room more you have a very nice collection to protect.
Very nice job, the entire thing looks awesome. Just be careful not to let it be known about, as like you said, stealth is the only security there.
Awesome bro. Iam in michigan myself
That is awesome 😊
this is a lot of work-- and totally paid off!
What a great video! We got a gun room tour, DIY video, gun collection, hidden in plain sight idea, and some great ideas (like the shoe rack for mags idea). I do have a question tho, how do you plan on controlling humidity? I’m in NC and it’s getting humid so I worry about stuff being left out. I do have those dehumidifiers in my gun safes but that’s it.
The room has one of our forced air vents inside of it as well as an outlet for a future Dehumidifier if necessary (I wanna see how well the forced air does for the room before I get a dehumidifier)
@@GreatLakesGunner Got it, that makes sense. Well I hope it works out well for you. Again, great video.
@@lawabidingsavage thanks!
Very awesome gun room!
This is great! How did you mount the drawer track and how long is it?
Awesome 👌
More impressive than the guy on here called (The Collector)? Just a simple room for the guns you need and not a million dollar room full of weapons that are never going to be shot! Good job bro 👍👌
That's incredible! You also have extremely similar gun taste to me! Aside from your pistols! Didn't even see one Canik!
Nice work. Looks like you can put those braces back on. :)
Only thing I would done differently is a solid core door, with more substantial lock. Add door contact with loud siren when it is armed.
Dude built a whole “gun room” just so he can watch his wife through a 2 way mirror. Now that is dedication. Honestly looks great shame about the basement
My wife was gung-ho about the room instead of cramming the safes into a living space. She gets the credit for the accent wall idea too!
