    I really appreciate your transparency and sharing before pics. I always thought you were one of those "blessed" few who literally have never struggled with weight so when you would talk about how you stayed lean, I rolled my eyes. (Kinda like those people who naturally have perfect skin and can literally bar soap and still have perfect skin... share about how they keep their skin so clear). It's so inspiring to see you as a college girl, with a typical college girl body, now looking the way you do. You have inspired me to stay consistent with working out and eating healthy plant based foods. Thank you!!!🙏💜

    I was an extreme binge drinker and binge eater in my 20s (drinking daily and blacking out every weekend/binge eating while blacked out) I’m so happy that’s all in the past, although it’s hard to come to terms with knowing that I “wasted” those years, but I did grow from them, I’ve been on the road to health and happiness in my 30s !

    Wow Erin, you knocked this out of the park! Such a well rounded approach to healthy living and weight loss. You touched on so many important aspects: whole foods, movement, rest, positive outlook, loving your body where it is, chemical fragrances, etc. In a world obsessed with high protein, you are an absolute breath of fresh air, actually speaking truth, not fad diet rhetoric. You are so spot on with high carb (clean critical carbohydrates) as key and eating low fat, and not being worried or obsessed about protein. Most people don't realize our metabolism or ability to lose weight has to do with our liver. The more congested our livers, the harder it is to lose weight and feel good. Both high fat and high protein diets have a tendency to clog up our livers and eventually make it very difficult to lose weight and feel our best- even those who lose weight on Keto, once they go off, the weight comes flooding back. We also need to remember that all plant foods contain highly absorbable protein and essential fatty acids that won't clog up our livers, but actually scrub them clean:) Congested livers also make it difficult to find joy. Our livers are the seat of our emotions. Clean liver, happy person! I'm a certified Functional Medicine Practitioner and Acupuncturist and I found your information to be highly accurate and very helpful. I'm so happy to see Guiding Lights, like yourself, out there in the world helping other people become their best healthy selves. You are an inspiration and I always enjoy your videos, Dusty too and the kiddos!❤

    Framing this out with these 15 questions was so helpful for me! I am the person who knows so much about health, I "know" all the right things to do, but implementing them is often harder. My favorite question was, "Are you doing your absolute best?" and the answer was a very easy NOPE! It's not about punishing myself, just getting "radically honest" as you say and looking at the excuses I make (one beer won't hurt, it's just a little cake, etc, turns into oh well, everyone else is eating pizza, I'll just have french fries for dinner, and on and on). I have a lot of weight to lose so I'm in a different boat than you, but it's still crazy how much we have in common and how much *everyone* has in common in this realm of health.

    You look amazing, Erin. So fun that loosing weight and keeping it off is actually easy and normal once we've done the work to get to a place where a healthy lifestyle is just part of life and no longer challenging. Totally agree about the not intermittent fasting. Doing anything hungry is no fun, but especially being there and taking care of our little ones is so much better and more productive on a full stomach.

    I am nine weeks four days pregnant with our first, only 5'3", and have seriously gained eight pounds just in the first trimester. I also weight/strength train a few times a week but I am having such a hard time keeping my unhealthy cravings at bay. It honestly feels like no one understands most of the time. I wouldn't worry too much. I gained 60 pounds with my second pregnancy, but I also worked out everyday and ate as healthy as I could (and yes I gave in to the cravings, thus the 60 pounds). After I gave birth and the go ahead from my doctor to start exercising, I lost those 60 pounds in three months by eating whole foods and exercise--I was also breastfeeding. Good luck to you and congrats on your pregnancy; I hope everything goes well for you and your family.

      Cereal , bread , milk , lots of seed oils , candy , soda , sweets . I wish I’d known about real nutrition back then . I’d of kept it simple & eat whole food & be mindful of ingredients in packages .

    Erin, this video was very helpful. Maybe in a future video - it would help if you could be more specific on how much fats one should be eating in meals. I feel like if I started a vegan diet, I would totally overdo fats (give me all the almond butter and avocado). Basically would help to learn appropriate portions of fats in high carb diet.

    Great video about self love and radical honesty - so true! The only thing I might slightly disagree with is the “if you can’t read it, don’t eat it” concept. I see what you mean and for beginners just trying to figure out what a Whole Foods Diet means, that may be a good general rule of thumb to start out with. But for some foods, and especially skincare products, some ingredients need to be processed in a way so that our body can absorb the nutrient we want and that new form is given a new name that probably sounds more scientific than we’re used to. But just because we don’t know what some words mean doesn’t mean we couldn’t LEARN what they mean and understand that they’re not harmful, they’re just in a different but more useful form. Obviously the same could be true about harmful processed ingredients so I think it would be better advice to learn to recognize different ingredients in their different forms and know which ones could be potentially harmful in large quantities or over time, and which are their to help us. Supplements, for example, are very processed nutrients that come from plants but only give us what we need in a concentrated dose. Is it better to get it from the whole food? Of course. But is it helpful for some people to have the concentrated dose? Absolutely, even necessary sometimes. And if you put an avocado on your face, I’m sorry but you’re just wasting delicious avocado because the fat molecules are so large that your skin is not absorbing that vitamin e. But stripped down to Tocopherol and added to the right medium in a skincare product allows it to be absorbed by your skin and give to tremendous moisturizing benefits.
    This is just rhetoric that I see over and over again in the natural/health/plant-based culture on youtube and blogs so I just wanted to say that I would be wary of causing fear around things we don’t know and promote educating ourselves on those things instead, that’s all 😊

    • @EatMoveRest
      @EatMoveRest  Рік тому +2

      I hear you! Thanks for expanding on this. That is why I said “generally speaking,” but I chose not to get too far in the weeds for this video. It might be a good topic to dive into in the future though!

    • @EveaGornall
      @EveaGornall Рік тому +3

      @@EatMoveRest I think that would be a great video! I know there are so many people just starting to dive into healthier and/or plant-based lifestyles and other fear-mongering videos (not yours - I knew what you meant, I mostly wanted to point it out for other viewers!) might lead them to believe that they HAVE to adopt an extremely restrictive diet, and I think most of us can attest to restriction leading to giving up or binging on whatever we’ve deprived ourselves of. I think it’s important for beginners to understand that they have so many options to ease their way into this new change and that it’s okay if it takes time and needing to learn new things as they go, just like you guys did because I know you didn’t cut everything out cold turkey in the beginning and I’ve loved watching your journey of learning over the years. It’s really helped me on my journey too 🙏🏻
      So I think a video with common terms found in food and skincare that are unrecognizable to newbies but are perfectly fine and terms to watch out for would be a super informative video 👍

    Great tips! My only question is, what about protein? All the research shows you need a good/ high amount of protein in your diet, as it (the amino acids in protein) is the building blocks for cell structure (for repair/rebuild, build). What are your thoughts?

    • @EatMoveRest
      @EatMoveRest  Рік тому +2

      I guess I should have clarified, when I mentioned protein…As long as you are eating a variety of whole grains, beans, legumes, leafy greens, nuts, seeds, even fruits and veggies (all foods contain protein), you’ll be getting plenty of it! It’s definitely important, but it’s just not something that I’m hyper-focused on bc it’s ridiculously easy to get enough of everything!

    In number 13 you say focus on high carb and you don't focus so much on fat or protein. I am currently 9 weeks postpartum and am experiencing some postpartum hair loss, did your diet change postpartum to combat that? Did you try to incorporate more fats/ proteins?
    Thanks in advance ❤

    Hey you guys! Thanks for this video. Loved it! ♥️ what forms of hydration do you recommend.
    Just water and coconut water? How do you feel about liquid IV or Nuun tablets?

    • @EatMoveRest
      @EatMoveRest  Рік тому

      We usually just do water bc it’s difficult to find unpasteurized coconut water with all the nutrients intact, although we do still buy it from time to time, but it’s not a staple. Dusty has been enjoying SunWarriors hydration powder that contains electrolytes after a sweaty bike ride! That’s about it… if you give it a try you can use EATMOVEREST for 20% off!

    Thank you so much for the video! My biggest problem I feel is my sleep, or lack of. What do you recommend for a good sleep? Ive tried all kinds of things, and I feel the more tired Iam the harder it is to sleep.

      Same with Dusty, he takes a sleepy tea with Valerian root ever night following by some stretching and quiet time in the dark before bed. Melatonin can help get your circadian rhythm back as well as early morning sun and HARD exercise. So I’m a bit worried I gained a bunch of weight decided to do one meal a day been doing that for a couple of months now around 3 1/2 to 4 around 20 pounds and now I’m gonna stand still and I am actually planning on starting my vegan journey again tomorrow but this time for good.
    My worry is is that it’s gonna be difficult or the weights not really gonna come off because I’ve been doing one meal a day ….
    Thoughts?

    I love your ChatVideos. They are never boring. Of course we can feel better and better as we get older. I am over midfourty now, and I feel better than in my 30ies and wayyy better than in my twenties. I live vegetarian for 30 years now, and long years plant based. Doing regularly gutcelansing with the products from Markus Rothkranz brought me to the point even not worrying to much about fat either (If its uncooked!) And I look much better in a bikini than I did with 25. Love and Peace

    Hi, waw a great video full lovely trick and tips. Thanks for sharing this information. You look so healthy and beautiful 😍
    I have just a question. How many fruits do you eat in one day? Here they teach us that to much fruit is not good and to much sugar.
    Can you eat a lot of high carb fruits also when you not work out a lot? Here they say you online can use the energie from the fruit without gain weight if you do a lot of cardio.
    Thanks for clearing this out.
    Please keep doing this lovely work.
    Thx a lot

    Becoming vegan looks so great but on a practical Level for our family it seems unreachable.
    My mom raised me vegan until up to age 4-5.
    Im now 30 and have 2 children. I have had alot of Stress and Stress related diseases (prediabetes, gastritis and anxiety) so I'd really love to finally start exercising and maybe go plant based.
    I know you mentioned it doesnt come over night...but how do I begin? With dietary changes and exercise when I have never exercised before?
    I'd also love to lose 10-15kg.
    We do eat a whole food and organic diet, have been since birth. 😊

      Truly nourishing yourself will give you more energy. Try adding green smoothies with flax or chia to what your already eating as a start. Good luck!

      I work A LOT and it takes work but everyone is right. Add a green smoothie to start and work from there. I do kale, banana, blueberries, spirulina, Wheatgrass and soy milk (cuz I'm old, lol). If I'm eating bad-ish, it really helps get me back on track. Oh and freeze the kale, put it frozen right in!
