I find it ironic how back then macy's was the biggest retailer and perhaps one of the most influential businesses that brought us modern day shopping and Starbucks was nothing special, but now in present day starbucks is now one of the most successful businesses out there and macy is about to run out of business. Quite amazing and sad actually

@@Mrdinomist I think that's just it...its like one of those things where kf ur somewhere you're unfamiliar with and you want coffee ur probably going to go to peets, Starbucks, dunkin donuts, etc...at some point those coffees were probably GREAT but then with growth just became "meh" but the brand image and their marketing and tons of locations made up for it...same thing as McDonald's, I'll bet when McDonald's was just starting out their burgers were incredible and had amazing service which launched them to where they now are able to make billions serving dogfood burgers and having awful service

As a kid about 7 years old (1964), my mother will make coffee ; using grounded coffee beans. Place the grounds into cloth bag(specially made) and pour boiling water. Then she would boil the milk (leche in spanish) and pour into the black coffee. That's how Puerto Rican made the coffee. Expresso coffee was popular with the elders.
My father started his car his day every day with a cup of coffee. Did everyone I know had their own coffee maker. Coffee was not only Served every morning at breakfast it was also served after dinner. Especially if you have guests. Everybody I know had a percolator in the 60’s and 70’s and made their own coffee and nobody drank Instant at least that’s the way it was in California 50 years ago. The convenience of getting a good cup of coffee in the middle of the day, really any time of day, is what made coffee shops profitable. I still start every day with a cup of coffee.
It is a quaint little story about a poor mom that sent her only son to the marketplace with their last possession -- their old cow -- to get some money to buy some food. But instead, the little boy traded the cow for some magic beans (that turned out to be coffee). His mom scolded him and threw the magic beans out the window, but in the morning there was a giant coffee bean stalk that grew right up into franchise heaven. And they all lived richly ever after. They even bought back the old cow for a cheap source of fresh cream! End of story.

Yup it’s quite interesting I choose a coffee topic for a review paper. I’ve learned a lot from that and this video. Coffee is so popular with college students at my school that our school market has a special area for coffee, this area has Community Coffee coffee . This is also likely due my school’s Starbucks frequently having long lines. Not only that but another college that neighbors our has Pjs coffee stores(I have a friend who works at one) It’s surprising how many coffee options have in walking distance

Once visited the original Starbucks. The line was way to longs so I went to one across the street.
