Hiya Kris thanks for taking the time to put together, I was paticularly interested in the Rab jacket which you answered anyway thankyou for the content very very very much appreciated
Cheers John. If you mean the puffy it’s the Rab Mythic Light. Quite expensive but I got mine on a great deal a while back. Forget the price not but it was good around £140 I think.
Yeah they’re not the cheapest but for long distance hiking lightweight packs they’re on par or cheaper than some of the competitors. Not for everyone but love mine and the features. The XMid is great it’s always been reliable and my go to for long distance hikes.
Love that vid Kris , as one of those that had asked what you’d used , particularly the footwear you wore Quick question , how feasible do you think it would be on future adventures to give grid ref / gps or what3words location for some of your significant stops for refreshment or camp obvs after the stop ? Apologies if it’s been asked before , I recently subscription last month and still getting through your previous videos , cheers
Thank you I appreciate that. I love to buy and use new gear so it’s nice to be able to talk about what I use and why. I’ve not really done that but for all my hikes I always share the Strava route in the description. That’ll show where I hiked and where I stopped so worth following me on there and you should be able to spot them.
I stayed at camping grounds along the TMB and there were always charging stations so I was fine with one 10,000 power bank - just if anyone is thinking they need more
Yeah that’s valid and if you’re stopping somewhere that works well. But without booking anywhere it’s not always that easy but also depends what electricals you need to power. I ran most days on airplane mode and battery saver and end of the days I was still at over 80% battery so that always helped.
Tested my action 4 and mic 2 last week for first time, much better than GoPro IMO. The screen is very responsive, can see myself on the front screen display and the battery life seems very good as well as that I feel the picture looks better than the GoPro. Thanks for going through this kit list, useful things I’ve noted. What selfie stick do you use for it?
Hiya Kris...what's the sizing like on the senshi top ...you mentioned your 6 ft .....do you go for the large or xl ....thanks for the review of your gear ...cheers in advance Andrew👍⛰️
Cheers Andrew. I went for the Large and it’s perfect. I also have an OMM Core Plus Hoody in Large but that once is a tight fit. This Large is perfect and baggy which is what you want but fits well due to the stretch. They’re just hard to find in stock.
Yeah they’re really expensive for what they are. Saying that I’m in mine tonight on Helvellyn and it’s freezing up here but it’s keeping me warm. It really depends on the temperatures you’ll be going on. For a summer quilt I use the Flames Creed 20D quilt (Google it) on Ali Express and works well. But not for when it’s cold. Not too sure on others it’s best chilling UA-cam. It’s always a balance against warmth to weight to pack size and price. Always need to sacrifice something so choose what’s important to you. If pack size not as much of an issue it really opens up your options.
Yeah they’re great I’ve had them for a while now as used them back on the OMM last year and worked well. They do wet out eventually but they’re light and fit well and great
I realised after filming my I forgot to mention it. The watch was great. I’ve used a Fenix 6X Pro for 4 years now on every single hike and it’s been amazing. Had 1 issue with the battery a few months ago so Garmin offer to replace straight away for free. I had an option to pay £152 to get a Fenix 7X Pro Solar Sapphire so I did it and love it. The 6X Pro is superb so I’d get that and save money. Basically the same as this although the 7 is quicker but not needed. The X determines the size which is the biggest. That’s the one I recommend as best battery life.
@@krisgleave thank kris, I think I’m looking at getting the 6x then much appreciated, keep up the vids up there with one of the best in the hiking and camping scene
@bradleyhill599 you’ll love it. I really do need to make a video on these watches I keep saying it. I’ll make sure I do as you also need to load on a different map which makes the watch far better and I can go through that process too. Leave it with me
His pack was light too, it fact he had lighter kit and overall less weight than me. I was obviously filming so had some different gear and we have different gear but some similar items too.
Nice one, thanks for sharing Kris. Always great to see what others are using when they’re out hiking and wild camping. Atb 👍🏻
Thanks Gavin cheers mate

Many thanks, well thought out kit, really nice gear.
Thank you. After plenty of long distance hikes you get to know what works and what you can improve on so always trying to dial it in.

@krisgleave cheers kris thanks for the reply mate 👍...most of my rab gear is xl ..but some berghaus is large swings and roundabouts
Great vid. Obviously 360 for a sleeping bag is a lot. Realistically, are there any more budget friendly alternatives available that you could endorse?

@@krisgleave snow up there tonight mate yet?
@Oliverrees-horsley Too early for snow. It’s cold though with the wind. Definitely tell it’s getting to winter. Roll on the snow
I remember i recommended the decathlon waterproof pants decent arent they mate 😉✌️

Hopefully Danny can learn something from your kit list as it looked like he was carrying heavy items in his pack. Good vid.
