I purchased the exact same one in May this year. Freaking LOVE it!! That gear getting stuck and won't lower down happened to me, too. When it happens, slowly release the clutch, don't let go/stall the bike, then when the gear number shows up, shift down. Repeat until you're on N or 1. Idk why or how it happens but you weren't alone when it happened! Been there and done that~😆
I have the 2023 Yamaha r3. It’s a nice bike. Love the sound once you put the aftermarket exhaust on it. Love the videos and that color as well. Keep posting.
when your bike is off, you have to move the bike back and forth with your body strength so that the gear can catch, so if its at 3rd, and your biek stalsl and is off and oyu wana go down roll the bike forward a bit
Also are you new to riding? I am and I’m going to start making videos I have a dual sport TM38 and it’s a 300 and the gearing seems to be the same. Nice bike you got there, bare bones and light! Love how you’re realistic about your commentary. Subbed
Hey that is an absolutely lovely colour scheme and lovely R3 too. I don't know why Yam don't do this colour scheme for the R1. Hope you have lots of fun learning how to ride that lovely bike. I'd deffo look at a good 'Dainese' jacket with built in back protector and proper motorcycle boots too, cos the shifting will be much more positive and you won't ruin a good pair of 'Adidas' 👍🏻
Let the clutch out slightly and very slightly roll the bike forward as you shift. Very common especially in new bikes breaking in! 😅 trust me I know happens like 3 times a day at lights. Sometimes it’s butter smooth and then it’s like stiff as all hell
Why won’t it go to neutral ? Because you need a little movement !! Just hold the clutch move a little forward or backwards and you will be able to change the gear to neutral !! I don’t know why but small displacement bikes always have this problem!!!! Shifting one gear down is not a problem when it’s more than 1 or 2 staying in a fixed position won’t do the job !!! I hope this helps !!! Great Bike 👍👍
I bought the same exact bike. I freaking love it and hope you have exactly the same experience as I. It’s been a game changer. Once I get on it I don’t want to go home. I bought mine in April and I’ve got almost 3k on it already 😂
Try holding the throttle like a screwdriver and rolling it in your fingers, it will feel way better (You can keep a flat wrist while twisting with this technique), also holding it farther out on the grip and using your two fingers covering front break to "measure" how much throttle you're using. I personally don't think the r3 needs any mods, but putting something to protect the bike if it falls would be good. I just got myself an r3 as well, its really fun to just rip on it and you're not breaking the law lol.
I have this same bike hence my profile pic lol anyways this video was so helpful I’ve been having trouble navigating speed to when to shift on this bike and so I watched your shifting and it helped- because that’s been my struggle with this bike I learned on a Harley sportster lol
all reviews I have seen have said R6 throttle tube makes it much easier and better acceleration response but not so touchy that youll pop a wheelie like an MT-07 would.
I bought the same one a week ago. It also misses the gear when I’m at a light. I have to jump on her to find the gear. Does yours get extra hot by the left thigh? I know hot is normal but it’s uncomfortable on one side particularly.
Yea I’ve learned that if that happens you just gotta roll the bike back and forth a little to re calibrate it lol - yes sometimes it does get a little hot but I’ve just gotten used to it at this point… considering you are sitting in the engine I expect it lol
Mine does the same thing at lights sometimes, just slightly let off the clutch and it should indicate what gear it’s in again, I don’t get it either, and you may have to give it a bit more force on the gear selector. It’s a strange situation though and I’m curious even more now that I’ve seen yours have the same problem.

I appreciate it man! I was so stressed lol
Bro Yamaha gotta come out with a r4 that revs out to like 14k rpm cause all these other companies focus on torque which lowers the rpm ceiling
I hope that day comes... imagine if it was an inline 4 cyl too!!!
@@CloudedThoughtz yea but if it was a inline 4 then it would cost as much as a 600cc cause of laws and stuff.
Rumors that it will still be twin but crossplane!!!
