There was definitely something off about the Professor/AI via the dialogue and interactions we had with them. Your theory make sense especially the part where we see the Professor whizz off into the abyss in the end after claiming they can't leave Area Zero.
My less tinfoil-y assumption there was that, given the game's running theme of characters lying to the player, the Professor had no real expectation of being able to survive wherever the time machine was about to send them, and all their talk about adventure was to cover up that they were giving their life to stop the machine... But this theory would certainly be a happier ending!!
I mean, it’s interesting to theorize about, but the AI was specifically made by the professor, which is 0:15 both in the journals and by the AI. And it always came off to me as if that happened before the Time Machine was finalized, and the AI helped them finish the machine- because they were complaining about how slow progress on things was. And also from like, a narrative standpoint, it works better for the AI to be made by the professor, made to be Logical and have the same aspirations and everything, only for the AI to recognize the faults that the professor is blind to, and try to make amends. That’s more narratively satisfying, in my opinion, than the ai professor actually being an AU of the professor. This isn’t to diss the fact that you have the theory at all, mind you, I’ve just been examining scavio through a narrative analysis lens lately and the AI professor is probably one of the best thematic and narrative parts of the game in my opinion. It’s totally fair to look at things through a questioning theoretical point of view and tug at the strings like you have, and I totally respect it.

This sounds like a Faller, fell through a portal, lost their memories and if the “time machine” are opening portals and legends arceus and even pokemon mystery dungeon proved that all portals not just ultra wormholes can cause ppl to become fallers and lose memories not to mention when talking to the professor at one point their name is display as professor sada/turo? and not ai sada/turo so this theory does have some backing.
Someone already mentioned that final part about the name showing up and I feel dumb for not including it! It feels less of a tinfoil hat theory than I put it out to be!
The original -raidon, the one that is with us from the begining, is the missing parent of its game. Koraidon the missing Turo in Scarlet, Miraidon the missing Sada in Violet. Sada finds the masculine Koraidon and Turo finds the feminine Miraidon days after their partner dissapears. And boths mons are frail and affraid of the world around them. They are also very loving and protective of Arven and every person close to him. That would also bring both games to a bittersweet, full circle. Both professors, obssesing over their dream of bringing in the Paradoxes and dying in the process, with thei first success, and Magnum Opus, being the one that "left them alone". (To anyone reading this, don't take it seriously. This was just the first thing that came to my mind, seconds into this video after all the build up.)
You already know that I enjoy this theory! Before watching this video, I had forgotten that at the end of the battle against the "AI" Professor, their text box temporarily changes to "Professor Sada?"/"Professor Turo?". That's really interesting and an extra point in favour of this theory!😄 Now I kind of want to go back and watch all interactions with the "AI" Professor in the game, because this changes a lot about the way we can look at that story 👀
Remember, our first interaction with the Professor was them noting our student number... A person we'd never met by this point. Not really a normal human reaction with someone you're talking to for the first time.
The Time Machine was active until the AI left Area Zero, I took the not being able to leave Area Zero thing as a choice, not a programmed function, they didn't want to leave as it would stop powering them and they'd shut down.
@pepethehumanfrog9276 absolutely! But I'm assuming they didn't go from Area Zero to another Area Zero! And the crystals always seem to concentrate in a specific spot (think Crystal Pool), so it wouldn't really be an adventure if they weren't moving from place to place
It could be that the "AI" Professor wasn't a robot but a Homunculus made with Tera Energy, just like what happened in Spell of the Unown, given life with a fraction of the Professor's soul. Once the Professor died to the aggressive -raidon the rest of their soul then found its way into the Homunculus, only after "getting their blood flowing" with a battle did the Professor begin to truly regain consciousness. However much like how Entei was always acting as Molly's father by protecting her and giving her a family, the AI Professor was made to maintain and protect the time machine and as such the Professor was unable to fight their body's "programming" even when it threatened their son.
It could be, yes! It would also fit with something I didn't mention but was already mentioned in the comments - the name changing to "Professor Sada/Turo" at a certain point!
well it is possible both parents are deceased in both versions but that seems kind of redundant. One maybe traveling the world or fallen through a portal to another time line or fall into the past or future.
The problem is that this is Pokémon. They may not outright state things directly at times but they usually stay right on the nose with main plot threads.

Ive technically said the other parent is living in the lighthouse lab. The stove has been used recently, despite Arven saying he hasnt been in there forever.
That's not what I'm saying. Like I stated, the opposite parent missing went to the opposite timeline (where someone just like them exists). As for the stovetop, I think it was just Arven. He also says that one can't go inside the Lighthouse because it is locked, while he is the one holding the key. I think he's been there in recent times, but at that point he's still hiding his true quest.
no the terra energey did NOT optimize the time machine, but its for the future and past paradox pokemon, thats why she mentions MACHINES, because the future paradox mons are all ROBOTS if you havent noticed. and again the "time energy " thing, that is NOT what terra energy does. They actually tell you in the blueberry academy that TERRA energy DOES NOT affect humans or ANYTHING OTHER THAN POKEMON. its when hes discribing the sphere above. A little more Research is needed on your part, i guess.
So i see where you are coming from with the AI traveling through time. the scarlet version makes zero sense. a robot going back in pprimitive time to die seeing the past the professor wanted. which! is why the VIOLET version makes 1000% sense, an ai robot NOT LEAVING THE CRATER. they are going THROUGH TIME! NOT SPACE! they end up in the FUTURE CRATER! now for a robot to go into the future makes more sense, they can not only repair themselves but also be able to supposedly travel back and forth since time travel now exists. its the past travel tha makes no sense. Sorry Scarlet players!
nah fam, the professor literally just built a dupe for help, you definitely are looking WAYYYY too hard into this for no reason. XD Its an AI. You didnt discover some crazy hidden secret, you just didnt put it all together playing the game and are trying to fill in the pieces yourself. lol and its not very cohesive at that. Sorry not sorry!

I don't wanna be watching a theory and hear "like Khu said" or "like Centro said", or like "this random 4chan post that could be written by anyone said". I think it made Pokémon content lazy, and even if he still added a bit of flair to videos, the leak stuff keeps me away. Then again, to each their own, this is just a personal thing 😁

Wouldn't they be powered down after leaving in the end as well? Making them unable to adventure as they say they're going to?
@notsoAceTrainer That would be implied, yes, but nothing says that Tera Crystals don't exist in the distant future or ancient past.
They also existed on the outside, though! In fact, we carried its power with us in the Tera Orbs (something the Professor knew as they invented it).

They're certainly robots though, after they're first defeated, smoke even comes out of their body.

ai cant leave the crater, because it will stray too far from the computer controlling it, similar to a wifi signal getting weak.
