A couple of other tips that were missed that I would have added: 1) Zoom out all the way when you first open the game to see which edge of the map you are against so you know which direction to explore and expand in. 2) Special zones are really powerful and sometimes are very close to your capital. 3) Identified resource caches are more valuable in the early game for the raw resources to boost your early economy. 4) Identify which techs you want or need for your capital main buildings which provide massive boosts mid to late game.
I was about to pick up a copy today, but since you are giving away one copy in your livestream today, I will be waiting after that. I have to say I wasn't to interested in the game, but watching you playing it really changed my mind.
Thank you, I figured most of these things out but the one thing I did not know how to do till you showed me was adjusting the bar at the top for spice. Kept thinking there was some UI aspect I was missing I had to click on.
Since the peaceful annexation ability takes waaaay too long, i think that if a village is adjacent to one you already control, it is more efficent to just cap it normally. Where the peaceful annexation really shines is to outrush your opponents if you see either a useful bottleneck or a village where you can take advantage of lots of adjacency bonuses or one with a unique location (like the polar ice cap thing). Just be prepared for it to cost a lot of authority and make sure you have enough time and resources to immediately build an airfield for ease of defense
@@burprobrox9134 Right, it looks like a smartphone game. They would be better of with still photos. The world graphics are great, but this they could change.

Are Maintenance Centers cumulative additive or just once? For example, if regions A and B are adjacent to each other, and I build Maintenance Centers in both A and B, do I get the effects added cumulatively together or just once? Cumulatively additive: -60% buildings Solari Upkeep -60% buildings Plascrete Upkeep vs. Capped Flat (just once): -30% buildings Solari Upkeep -30% buildings Plascrete Upkeep Also, does "and its neighbors (x1 max)" mean that region A can only impact region B to its northwest and not region C to its southeast? How does the Maintenance Center determine which/where the adjacency bonus goes? I guess one needs to start paying more attention to the region buffs and that way to see adjacency bonuses. In my first game as House Harkonnen, the pretentious House Atreides beat me in both Hegemony and Political so easily even on Medium AI. I closed the gap in terms of Hegemony, but politically, House Atreides had ALL the charters except Speaker and Water Seller which I nabbed from them, but far too late to matter. They already got the Governor of Dune, the highest charter. Also, I found it very funny/unlike "noble" Atreides that they would Poison my Supplies and such. I think some Espionage Operations shouldn't be available to some "noble" factions.
Based on my playthrough, all adjacent regions get the bonus but they dont stack. (1x max) means that if there are multiple adjacent regions that could give the maintenance bonus, only 1 of them can do it (i.e. not stacking)
@@nobodyparticular8529 Thanks for that explanation! Then only a single region A needs to build Maintenance Center for regions B, C and D to benefit from it? So building that Maintenance Center in region B isn't really helping region A anymore... but potentially only region E which border region B, right?
@@turankhan2381 yep. If you build more then you are just wasting the building slot and the resources (which is very painful in the early game). So better to fly the thopter around first before committing to a maintenance center spot so you get maximum benefit

8:56 Not sure the author of dune would agree with you here. The only barbarians here must be the foreigners attacking their planet and aquiring their yields :)
I agree, need the midgame video, for the handful of games I have played this far, something goes wrong in the midgame and it quickly spirals out of control and into a loss. Usually economy takes a hit which I cannot recover from or I get quickly overwhelmed by enemy units.
Ok JP. Time for a mid game tips, for the period between 2k and 5k hege... And update this vid for the new content... And basically just keep making DSW stuff
I played the video on 2x speed so I'm not quite certain, but I think you're pronouncing "Landsraad" without the R? So it sounds to me like you say "Lands - aad". Just to keep it simple, "Land" means country and "Raad" means counsel.
As much as I love dune, this has to be one of the worst games I’ve ever player. After purchasing the game itself, I then had to sign up with some xbox ultimate subscription just to play it, and then it didn’t even work right, where the graphics were only half loading, appearing super pixelated, not playable. Plus the game itself was just way overly complicated, even after going through all their tutorials. Total waste of my evening.
That’s just a problem on your end. The only issue not on your end is the complexity of the game, but that just requires playing to learn the mechanics better
With the lack of tutorials the game actually has, yor videos are pure gold. Gotta master the game waiting for multiplayer.
I realized it's actually pretty intuitive you don't need tutorials. Just follow those notifications.

Absolutely how I used it, if a village was far but incredible useful - peaceful annex then build an airfield.
Yeah definitely, it’s much better at reaching for spice etc!
Good video. Thanks for guide dude !
Loved this tutorial too! Thanks again Jumbo.
loving the content, been very helpful!

I think, attacking a village, requires killing the local militia, but peaceful annexation keeps the local militia alive for you.
