Great update. I don't have to worry about I have older bikes. I live in NYC hope to be down that way in a few weeks will stop in to say hello and see the dealership.
Thanks Doc for this information. I expected something like that after the last tec tip. All the beautiful and well designed software gimmigs requesting energy. But most of all, the battery needs the power to start the engine. And that is the priority. For us, as users/drivers, it means that we have to understand, how everything is working together. Therefore we need your tec tips. Thanks again and regards from Austria.
Happy new year Doc and low country HD. Q for you Doc if u could please what size are the 12 Spline pins holding the brake pads in place on the front calliper of a 2004 Roadking ?
another great video Doc. Question: on the new CVO and the PanAm, how to see the diag codes? I was at the 120th anniversary last July in Milwaukee, asked to several HD employees and nobody could answer this to me...
Press down and hold your trip switch on top of left handlebar control, while holding down, turn your ignition switch to “on” and continue to hold trip switch down until the odometer reads “diag” which now puts in diagnostics mode and release the trip switch button. Once there you can look at fault codes. It should have a display of something like PSPPB, not sure off hand without looking. From there you will press the trip switch for a couple seconds to go thru the above letters to have it look at diagnostics code. The first P will look at ECM, press switch again to look at codes for ecm and if present it will display an ecm code which you can clear by holding down trip switch and it will display clear, hit switch again to progress to next item in diagnostics and follow same format above. Your dealer can help out otherwise. Its a lot to cover in typing this procedure
The CVO is the same as earlier models. Hold down the trip button and turn ignition on. The Pan is a little more. Turn bike on, choose menue button on left control, scroll till the bike icon, enter, scroll down till you see Diagnostic, enter….Doc
Ain't technology just great???? By the looks of that service manual there's 2-3 times more in the 2023's bikes compared to my 2010 Limited. Do we really need all that??? Thanks Doc and Happy New Year to you, your family and all the great folks at Low Country HD!!!!
Hey doc I came across your post on here I was seen if u have any idea, information or anything about the 2023 nightser s software issues I have encountered a handful of it at times but my Harley dealership can’t seem to find it or they say Harley isn’t sent any information or fixes for it and u help me find a solution to this problem thanks RIC
Look at the size of that service manual. Most likely small print too. And this for a motorcycle. 😢soon to require a mechanical engineering degree to work on them.
The only thing I want my battery doing is starting the engine and running the lights. The more I hear about these newer bikes the more I don't want one. It sounds like there's no way of fixing these on the side of the road or at your motel.
You are correct James. Harley-Davidson motorcycles are becoming more complex with more electronics. This is the result of new technology and the demand from current customers to have “everything “ on their bikes. In comparison you won’t find anyone repairing their new truck on the side of the road or motel either…Doc
Thx Doc. Great info to know. I think I'll keep my older Harleys for now
I agree there will be more of this coming and Honestly surprised it is not in more of the older ones.

That would be great Joe…..Doc
Thanks for creating clarity.
I plan to be in your area this Spring. Riding from Ohio to Florida. I plan to stop and say hi and maybe buy a shirt.
I look forward to the day….Doc
Man these things are getting more and more complicated or should I say sophisticated!
Great info! Audio was very good, too 👍

A battery tender is a must on all modern vehicles now.
Just accept it and we'll be ok.
My shovelhead is snickering at me!
😆……Doc
Holy crap 😳, that's like a 2 brick thick manual!
I get most of my fitness in carrying them from the library shelves….Doc

1/4 inch 12 point socket…..Doc
The service manual for my '87 FLST-Special isn't nearly that thick.
Those were the simple days…..Doc
Ain't that the truth. The manual for my '87 doesn't tell you a thing about that "other" tranny mainshaft seal. 🤪@@LowCountryHarleyDavidson

Great video Doc, do you think the day will come when the service dept can wirelessly connect and diagnose issues, maybe while I'm on the road?
We can already track you through GPS so why not……..Just kidding! Scary right?…Doc

@@LowCountryHarleyDavidson Cars/SUV/Truck/Motorcycles it doesn't matter about the complexity as long as it works in my book.
More problems the more control u give electronics to control
I don’t agree with “problems” more complicated yes more electronics….Doc
