Thanks for doing a review, you've invested time, patience and money into this and it's appreciated 👍. I have the Harley Davidson 30K which looks just like the later 50S. The issue I have consistently had with it being that it works great except for when it rains for a lengthy period during a ride. Once water gets near the contacts on the base it malfunctions and eventually stops working. I don' t use it any more as I bought the Harley Boom Audio No2 Helmet with built in Sena. This works reliably in any conditions. I have been casting an eye towards Cardo as they offer waterproof as being a feature. After your review I now know this will not work with my WHIM.
Try cleaning the contacts with a pencil erraser, then apply a very thin coat of dielectric grease found at any automotive parts store. This grease avoids humidity electrical contact issues. If that does not solve it, the issue maybe in the 30k unit.
I had the 50S Harley version. Rain got in and the unit stopped taking any charge. HD refunded my money as it was still under warranty. I just got a CARDO Packtalk Edge yesterday. I have the WHIM, it probably won't work 100% with the Whim+GTS, but I will go back to do what I did before when I didn't have the WHIM but had a Sena 50S (non-HD). Had an old iPhone with the glass cracked connected 24/7 that lived in my RGS .. only for maps/apple play purposes. I used the Jumper to trick the GTS for to get carplay. The SENA 50S (non-HD) was paired to my personal iPhone. I used for music, etc, chat with folks, sire, phone calls etc. Will probably do the same with the CARDO and may remove that WHIM. DOn't want to go back to the 50S and run the risk again of it getting wet.
I have the same trike as you. I have the WHIM and the Sena 20s Evo. I have the Sena paired to the bike, so I can talk to my passenger, listen to the radio & XM and hear the directions from the map. It is also paired to my phone. I do not have the Sena paired to other headsets. If I get the Sena 50S and pair it to other headsets, will they hear my conversation I have with my wife.
So I do have a question and you’re absolutely right about the Bluetooth with a center app because I have to send a 50 S now. Have you run into issues with it being on Bluetooth versus being plugged in to the USB because I’ve been told that it’s either plugged into the USB or you have todisconnect the Bluetooth completely try to work properly. The 50s will provide the same communication privacy you now have with your passenger. The additional benefit is you can set it up as a whole group communication on the mesh network if you want too.
