Fun fact: This movie literally had no script. The script was made during a writers strike so the writers only hastily wrote down a few important plotpoints before the strike and gave that to Michael Bay.

My favorite bit of stupidity in the movie is when Jetfire busts through the back of the Smithsonian and they are suddenly in the Boneyard. That's one long-ass museum...it stretches from D.C. to friggin Arizona. It's hilarious because they don't even bother trying to hide it...they enter from an area looking green and east coast, and end up in an obvious southwest desert.
I don’t remember if they say in movie that it was the National Air and Space Museum in DC, which is a part of the Smithsonian Institution, but I know for a fact that it was filmed at the National Air and Space Museum Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center, located in Chantilly, Virginia (which is a museum I would recommend checking out). Still a ridiculous distance nonetheless.
That's because the movie had no script, basically. It was made during the Writer's Strike, so Michael just shot a bunch of random scenes with little to no cohesion, and the writers that were available had to make a coherent story out of them. Add on the demands from Hasbro to include certain characters for the toys, as well as Michael's own crazy ideas, like the Twins or Wheelie, and the movie became an utter mess. It was a production disaster.

@@zafool4997 @Coshmack the carguy Computers don't catch fire from having too much load on rendering. All that would happen is that the program would crash. The stories about a computer catching fire rendering Devastator are obvious exaggeration for either publicity or just for fun.
And maybe it would have rendered easier if they had actually paid any kind of attention to reality instead of throwing random crap on it so they could make testicle jokes...

Want to know the reason why this movie was such a mess? It was made during the Writer's Strike. Meaning that writers in Hollywood refused to write for movies, unless they were properly compensated for their work. As a result, Michael had no script to work with. You know what he did? He shot the movie anyway. Only the scenes he shot were random and had no cohesion, and the writers that were available had to work around them and make a coherent story...which of course didn't happen. Add on the demands from Hasbro to include certain characters for the toys, as well Michael's own ideas such as Wheelie and the Twins, and we got an utter mess.
It's not a total failure, in my opinion. The forest fight is easily the best scene in the entire movie, as well as the best fight scene from all six movies. The song "New Divide" is also one of Linkin Park's best, and holds nostalgic value to me due to being the first song I ever heard from them. Steve Jablonsky's OST is amazing, as always. And Tony Todd gave a chilling performance as the Fallen, even if he barely appeared in the movie.
Also, Bay was forced to write a movie in 3 days.
This was the movie that got me into Linkin Park as well, hearing New Divide play over the credits changed my 11 year old life

The forest fight scene is still one of the best things I've ever seen on screen. 1000% pure crowd pleasing amazing action mayhem. I won't defend anything else about the film (except the designs, which are awesome weird and creative af).

Honestly I’m in a similar boat as Kellen. This film was my first major introduction to Transformers and as an 8 year old I adored it all. Today I still love it in a so bad it’s good way.
