Here's my Transformers (2007) MOVIE REVIEW! JobbytheHong takes a look at the first Michael Bay Transformers movie, Transformers 1, in this Transformers - Movie Review. I think Megatron has the easier part of the discussion. Several thousand years of civilisation, and all we've done is become debauched and violent, then collapse into a stuper of ignorance and chaos, only to become proud and full of pointless dreams to start it all over again. Just up and down, barely forward, always backward to somebody because you just cannot please everyone.

According to Megan Fox, she was attending a Linkin Park concert and when it was over, the band met her personally and stated that they heard about the live-action "Transformers" film, and requested whether they could have a song of theirs in the film, and thus "What I've Done" appears in the closing credits.

The reason why the CGI for the Transformers themselves looks so good and still holds up, is because they used an engine to simulate the way light bounces off of metal.
The way that light bounces off of a CGI object is pretty much the key decider on wether or not it's going to look real

@Mr. Jefry in 2007?.....no....no it was not.... and to be honest still isn't when it clearly should be from the large amount of films that still have bad CG because they either don't know how to properly apply physics, or they're straight up cutting corners to save money and time.
What that team and render farm did in 2007 for the first film, and in the second film was incredible and an absolutely monumental task at the time. Even current day films still struggle immensely with how to correctly simulate things like metal and just texturing in general. Take for instance the comparisons between the first and second pacific rim films.
keep in mind that they did this on computers back in 2007, where people still only had gigabyte hard drives and not terrabytes, 720p was still considered HD, and computer graphics cards and processing power is nowhere close to what it is today.

I read the novelization of this movie years ago and from what I remember the reason Optimus wanted to kill himself was because he saw it as a last resort and the only true way to end the war. He knew the Allspark was the cause of the civil war that lasted for millions of years and he wasn’t about to subjugate earth to the same suffering. So he basically said “if I can’t have it no one can” knowing it would only be a temptation for evil.

Still doesn't made that much sense because he could have literally dropped that shit into some black hole or something when they launched it into space, rendering unnecessary the killing himself part. Most of the Decepticons in this movie were real beasts and really durable, why it wasn’t like that on the next movies
Mainly because all the 'cons in this movie were Megatron's best fighters, while the second movie mainly contained the Transformers equivalent to dumb muscle(because really, in the grand scheme of Megatron's forces, thats pretty much all the movie Constructicons are).
Yeah the transformers look INCREDIBLE in these movies. But that's probably why the writing suffered so much.

Every film has a budget to it and that budget has to be divided between multiple different parts in order to make the film, some random guy on the internet doesn't have this same constraint so I don't think that comparison is fair.

Optimus acted more like a anti hero in the bayverse which honestly is a underrated and misunderstood version of his character
@@Kaiju-bm4ts its because the people behind the movies couldn't be more nuanced and only understand "Shoot or stab in the Fucking face!"
To be fair, the stakes are a lot higher in the setting of the Bayformers, which takes place in fictional depiction of real life. Humans are literally everywhere, and there’s no real way to easily detain Decepticons (NEST in RotF were probably still in the early phases of learning to take down Transformers).
And at least for the first film, the Autobots were few in numbers, were fighting an unknown amount of Decepticons (turns out there were a good amount on Earth), and also minimizing Human casualties while also fending off the military/Sector 7.
Taking all of this into account, it’s pretty justified as to why Optimus seems pretty anti-hero in the first film.
@@Malysitos Optimus started to show more anti heroic characteristics in tf2 by being more violent towards the decepticons. Since I love anti heros and find them to be the more realistic and more relatable heros we need more of the bayverse optimus is the more realistic approach to his character but traditionally g1 optimus will always be the best hands down bayverse is just more realistic by displaying what us humans are we humans are not truly good or bad we are both similar to how bayverse optimus is heroic but does a few villainous things

Now, by saying that i preffer a kinder OP doesnt mean that im against him killing Decepticons, again, this is a war and is prefectabky understandable and in character for him to do so, since he is a commander
But the thing is, that the way he kills decepticons is what separates him from bay's OP
Bay's OP is ruthless and kills decepticos in a very gruesome and savage way, wich, altought cool, doesnt really fit Optimus Prime, the original one would probably go for a quick kill witouth pain or incapacitate them and make them a prisoner
I'd also like to note, that the reason Bumblebee's suffering hurt some members of the audience was because he was making whiny sounds, like some dog, and just generally would behave less, like a person or friend, and more, like a pet.
That. Doesn't help the "Autobots are people, so treat them as such!" theme at all.

I find the complaints about Optimus having a mouth rather odd, considering that at the time of the film's release we had almost as many designs with a mouth (Beast Wars, Beast Machines (I get that these two were Optimus Primal, but that character fulfilled mostly the same role), and Cybertron) as we had with the faceplate (G1, RID 2001, Armada, Energon).
Since then the numbers have only gotten more balanced (Mouth in Animated, Prime, RID 2015 and Cyberverse, Faceplate in both WFC and FOC).
Its because it looks weird imo.

Around the time TF 07 released, people were more accustomed to seeing him with a faceplate. Sure there was Beast Wars, Beast Machines, and TFC, but not everyone watched those shows.

AOE and TLK are a little "worse" for me tbh but my god there are some really cool things in both (mostly AOE)
Seeing Optimus ride Grimlock and the Dinobots into battle is something I will NEVER forget.
TLK was probably my least favorite of the 5 but yea let's not get ahead of ourselves lol
tbh I do want to see him and his friends watch tf2 (that's what got me into transformers as a kid)
The forest battle is one of the greatest battles in movie HISTORY.
I genuinely hate those movies with a passion but I think it would be funny watching jobby suffer through them.
Story was terrible, no way around it. Action was cool tho (tho TLK had very messy moments)
I love AOE. I like Cade Yeager and he was better than Sam. I mean, Sam, at the end of his debut movie fucked with Megan Fox over Bumblebee. But Cade wasn't for that sh*t, the guy offered to protect the saviours of the planet and his daughter. I liked also that Cade was just a poor man and Sam was literally a Prime since his grandfather found Megatron (TLK f*cked this aspect of Cade and nearly all the character in general, damn...)
I also loved how that "Autobots vs Humans" conflict was made. Sure, the humans hating the Autobots was stupid but was awesome to see a mad Optimus being an ACTUAL psychopath
IMO, I rank the movies, Bumblebee not in it as it has a different feel to it, is This, RotF, DotM, TLK, and AoE, just because AoE came back after we thought they were done and left a somewhat bad taste, mainly that romance plot, in everyone's mouth
I think optimus was so used to sacrificing himself he go so tired of it that he wanted to do it to get it over with 🤣

I was 3 when this movie came out (no I'm not a big boy) I remember bowling at bumblebee getting taken. Then jobby said it wasn't a emotional event and I felt personally attacked
I was 4 when the movie came out and it's been one of my favourite movies ever since. I think it has some good moments, even if it's dumb at times.

@023 Studios AOE is underrated and overhated. It's not great but it's really good if people have the ability to not complain about every little thing that doesn't matter.

When I commit to movies I usually finish them. The Last Knight is my only exception...
