You'll see mate it's not really your choice if you want to marry or not when the girl you love starts hinting at and crying on for months on end (because her friends around her are getting married and shes not, the domino affect) then you'll eventually buckle one day like 80% of all men do then it's on!.....
      Fast forward 5 years
Da fuck did I do that for! 😳 we were happy before the marriage 🤔

I resonate with this. I always felt like I NEVER fit in and I can be a loner at times because of it. I’m about to turn 34 and I get questioned why I’m not married yet, why I haven’t “settled” with a steady career or a homeowner like others expected for my age. After a couple of years, I get bored. I’m like an electron that bounces and cannot be pinned down. I’ve gotten shamed by family, (former) friends, even a therapist for not living up to society’s standards for my age. I hate to admit that I’ve developed some social anxiety because of it and only have 1 friend. During this pandemic, I’ve finally realized I was never meant to fit in and it’s what keeps me breathing and alive - I will continue to be that “outcast”. Your words made me feel validated and valuable.

I have a smile pun ma face - smile. What a relief. I was never meant to fit in. HOw glorious are those words. Really. Thanks again.

You could save up some £ and spend some time abroad. Living abroad or even just visiting for a while helps you to re-evaluate and find yourself and bonus: you're exposed to a new environment so you won't have to bump into anyone you know. Things will get better for you keep your head up, enjoy life in the present moment and put God first place. You are valued 🌟

@@michaelsilverfoote6272 can relate to a lot of what you’ve said brother. I’m 34 and more or less in the same boat with regards to career, finance, friendships, depression/anxiety. Go from caring a great deal one day to being completely numb the next. One day I’m at peace with who and where I am, the next, far from it. Don’t know if I’m mentally stronger than I’ve ever been or if I’m completely numb. One thing that comforts me sometimes, I remind myself this is everyone’s first time here (Earth). Nobody has done this sh*t before. Whatever happens, we must go easy on ourselves. By all means be self-critical, but it has to be healthy, too. All the best to you brother, we’ve got today, and for that we are blessed 🤞🏻

One of the best podcasts I've heard on the current state humanity and why depression and anxiety are increasing at alarming rates. This year was a big wake up call for a lot of people to live authentically as themselves. Not chase other people's goals and hopefully assessing or reassessing their lives.

I’m an employee, not an entrepreneur and I love these conversations. But I really paid attention today when you expressed the identical feelings I have toward marriage. Almost verbatim. Really good podcast Steven! The biggest problem we have as you touched on is people are doing stuff to impress other people all the time rather than doing stuff to please themselves and makes themselves happy!
A major example of this is when people buy stupid shit with money they haven’t got (big debt for cars/houses etc) to impress people they don’t really care about.
It’s all rather insane when you think about it. People are more focused on giving off a portrayal of happiness rather than actually being happy in reality.

Imagine for a moment there is this ravenous thirst inside of you. A thirst that gradually originated from realizing that a lot of what we are taught through systems such as schools, universities, religion, and society is flawed. A thirst that grows on a daily basis as we are flooded with messages that are loaded with stigmas and agendas. The irony of being thirsty in a flood...
Watching your podcasts feels like I'm dipping my cup into a well of truth and drinking water that is slowly but surely quenching this burning thirst.
    Thank you Steven.

I'm quite glad I found this. I actually have been thinking along the same lines for a number of these topics that you covered. A lot of my thoughts are guided by questioning the "normality" around us, and this year, in particular, has really given me a better perspective of my own privileges and the amount of good luck I've had in life so far. I'm currently questioning everything from marriage to the concept of owning a house, and I didn't realise how radical these thoughts were until I mentioned it to my family - all of which are into traditional goals and starting a family. It's good to know where there are more people that keep questioning deeper.
    Thanks, Steven!

I think, and this is besides the content of the podcasts, which is insightful and gives so much every time, that there is a lot of courage for moving to a UA-cam format: you have to be delivering every second not only with your voice like you did before, but also keeping people watching and using good body language to express.

Thank you Steve for another great show. The point that stood out for me from this week's episode is the part that spoke to trying to fit in. I can speak with certainty that trying to fit or conforming to society is like slavery because you don't have the freedom to be just who you are meant to be . You're constantly worrying about what others think , you're constantly trying to please everyone except yourself. This breeds more mental health issues, sadness, lowered self-esteem... Etc
One of the reasons I like your podcast so much is the simple fact that you are as real as they come. No pretense or putting on . You are just raw, vulnerable, open and unapologetically you. That my friend resonate with me. Authenticity

I found out about your podcast almost 2 weeks ago via LinkedIn and I love it. Even though I don’t agree with every point you or your guests make, it’s so interesting to hear them. When I listened to you the first time I thought to myself ‘I love how he asks all this questions and puts in some of his own content, but still let’s his guest narrate most of the interview and find their own way!’ So I decided I want to listen to one episode a day until I caught up, but what I realised pretty fast was that I couldn’t. Your podcasts have so much content, that I personally take at least 2 days to process and to adjust the things you said to my life, that I sometimes have to listen to it again because I forgot what you were talking about in the second half of it. It’s fantastic! Keep on sharing your thoughts with us 👏🏼

In small groups, everyone helps to fix problems together, which makes people feel useful and connected. But in today’s world, many solutions are already made for us, and that can make us feel less involved and less satisfied.. Problem-Solving Instincts... is gone , ( more phycologies problems) but we continue make our life more complicated , kids, pets, more difficult job , more and more ..more business more complicated.. never ends because that is how we are facing survival challenges that required complex thinking and innovative solutions. This natural inclination to address problems can lead us to create new challenges when old ones are resolved or absent.

I found your comparison between buying a TV with the knowledge that 50% don’t work, and monogamous relationships/marriage really interesting…
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS)… “Data from the BLS shows that approximately 20% of new businesses fail during the first two years of being open, 45% during the first five years, and 65% during the first 10 years. Only 25% of new businesses make it to 15 years or more.”
We also know that most businesses fail.
But I’d imagine your opinions on starting a business (let alone starting a business without contracts) are very different than starting monogamous relationships, and also committing to marriage.
Both have high fail rates-does that mean neither businesses nor marriage/monogamous relationships are worth trying?
I’d say the risk/reward is down to what you find valuable in terms of your own happiness.
If you find that XYZ is your goal and it leads to your personal fulfilment, you’ll happily take the risk no matter how high.

The part about the body to look good, is the same problem I have had for 4 years now. And I noticed this after the second year. The problem for me was, that in the summer I have always been a bit chubby. Like 5 kg overweight. By the end of summer i feel so bad that I start working out. For February or March I have always been in the best shape I have ever been. Managed to do 22 pull ups in a row last time(correct ones not crossfit). But once I reach February or March I am so satisfied with the result that I quit gym and start eating junkfood. When Summer starts I am fat again :D And this has happened for 4 years now.

Thought provoking as ever. In terms of being yourself I agree that this is crucial and as a person with Autism/ADHD my experience of life is the opposite of yours in that I absolutely need time on my own in quite large helpings.
The other day I got asked to go to a social gathering of ex work colleagues and was pleased to have been able to say thatI would really like to come, but it makes me feel really uncomfortable because I can’t handle a lot of loud noise and I don’t have the ability/capacity to filter out surrounding sounds and consequently can’t hear what’s being said and felt relieved to be honest instead of making an excuse, (although at the same time exceptionally frustrated and undeniably wishing I could be more like others, but that”s another story😊

Another excellent podcast, I'd even go as far as saying this was my favourite! I really felt this one, I found myself finishing your sentences, it was like for that brief moment in time we were in sync. I was asking questions of myself that I've never asked before, and in another pararell universe, it was like I was talking to myself, reminding myself to take stock and reevaluate the the important things in life. Cheers Steven.

Great video. I agree with a lot of things you said except for marriage. I have been happily married to my wife for 16+ years and hope to be for many more. The signing of the contract and church is just showing the world we love each other so much we are willing to sign this document. You mentioned 50% of marriages fail, which is absolutely true, but it’s the people that failed not the institution of marriage. Marriage is a commitment and a lot of people who divorce do it for selfish reasons. I really liked the $10k an hour comment, I want to achieve that level of success as well. Keep doing the great job you are doing. I’m a fan.

On the monogamy subject, in my personal experience the person you are meant to spend your early adulthood and have children with probably isn’t the best person to spend the latter stages of life with. You change so much as a person between 25 and 45 and unless you and your partner change in the same way you stop being the right person for each other. So you life life in 3 phases, childhood/adolescence then your first meaningful relationship during have children and finally your rest of life with a new partner who shares your dreams and goals particularly for your retirement.

Yes, I agree, and this isnt a new idea. Steven iS A GREAT salesman. Steven is intelligent, thoughtful, kind even, but ultimately his main focus is being a salesman. The tribes idea is an old one and is over simplification. Primitive tribes also suffered short lives, disease, famine, violent death lack of books, lack of world perspective. The philosophical stuff isn't new either, he is taking old/current ideas and presenting them to sell himself.

Hi Steven, just wanted to "add" my opinion about marriage :). I'm not against marriage however i don't see it like a contract and all that stuff regarding contracts i really see it like a symbolic thing between two people, because you actually can divorce whenever you consider necessary but i agree that you can definitely find other ways to celebrate the commitment between two people. Also as you said definitely you are attracted to other people but when you find a person that is how you've dreamed you can control that but this comes with let's say experience. Great video and keep up with sharing all your knowledge and opinions!

Simplicity before understanding complexity is stupid, but simplicity after understanding complexity is genius. Totally agree going back to our core mission of creating meaningful human relationships and not base our lives on external validations. True-love doesn't necessarily need to be confirmed by marriage. On the other hand, I consider that being committed to your partner can bring several benefits throughout your life.
I've never fit within the society, no matter how much I tried when I was younger. For some moments I felt good but deep down I knew that fitting in doesn't represent me. I never liked school, and because of that, I left my home country to make my dream possible. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on such important topics. It was great to see that someone with a prosperous status can claim that working for money was wrong.

Steve a big fan of your work and journey, been out here since Everyday Steve and that. Another brilliant episode, in regards to the monogamy of marriage and the actual worth, I am going to take a different angle outside of the view that marriage is a gift.
When you enter into a business partnership or buy a piece of property or lend money to someone, why do you have the terms written down and even notarised? One reason is that a commitment has been made by both parties, and it is to the advantage of both to have the terms in writing.
For instance, if one party dies, disappears, or simply loses their memory, the terms are still legally binding. The same is true in a marriage. In the event of the death of one mate or of both, the law in most countries makes provision for the surviving members of the family.
This is usually lacking in the live-in arrangement. It is this commitment that makes the difference between living together and marriage. And the marriage certificate is a 'reminder' to the couple of that commitment to love, honour, and cherish each other and of the legal implications of the marriage vows.
Lastly Steve, I always think could this apply to everyone in the world? If so, it makes sense, if not we need to reconsider. In this instance: Could everyone in the world be in a healthy, happy functional marriage without harming others? - Yes... Could everyone in the world be in very causal, loose relationships with multiple people? - No, it wouldn't work.
Why not? We would have too many broken homes, unwanted pregnancies, STDs, abandoned children etc and society as a whole would crumble socially.
The homes are the nucleus of society. Happy healthy homes = a healthy happier society.
There are more reasons, but this was just a few. Amazing episode! Thanks :)

Marriage: why we need contract bond although both of them in love? Love itself sometime in peak or at low stage so marriage contract is something in return remind us about our promise. Example: 1: in Business partnership, multiple persons trust each other that's why they want to be a business partner but they also prefer to write down, so they have something tangible about that bond. 2: we wrote meeting minutes or todos list to remind ourselves what we have done on an occasion or what we have to do. It does not mean we don't have strong memories.

Ok Marriage ;my take : reality is, the longer you are with your partner , the layers you unpeel , you literally lay yourself bare to that person, they see you at your weakest , you share the absolute worst and the best …that level of vulnerability can only take place in a secure relationship. I guess the formality of a wedding ceremony is simply recognising this commitment . The reality is, as a couple you have to work together, to support your partner and obviously they do it back for you…..the best relationships seem to be when the individuals stop thinking Me Me Me ……it’s too easy to walk away, but you lose a depth in relationships if you do . Thirty plus years on, its work in progress Every Day, but the depth of understanding is incomparable….no one will know you like this and that is amazing, deep, rewarding , comforting ……
    Good podcast 👍👍👍

Marriage is a man made thing created many moons ago to protect children from starvation - to make men responsible for making children. I blame Walt Disney for making us all believe you're supposed to meet your prince charming and live happily ever after! You should look up TED talk by Esther Perel as she believes our relationships need to evolve too. Great episode of your podcast. Still working out my purpose in this life.

Im alone. My own boss. No work/ life balance. It's interesting, for sure. Im an herbalist. I talk to my clients all day. The only thing that keeps me doing this is bc i do it for my own health and wellness. I'd be making herbal remedies for myself daily anyway. I healed my lupus and cancer. Now I heal myself and over 1,000 clients. So even if i stop providing herbal products for my clients, I'll still be making them for myself anyway. But i do need more balance. I feel weird at times. I still get burnout bc its just me doing allll the work. I will to hire employees and get a warehouse in time.

Man I really enjoy these types of episodes! I love how it you make me laugh about „simple“ issues like being attractive to the LADIES, and then transition to an heartfelt epiphany :D
The thing that hit me most in this episode was the perspective that „ The moment I accomplished the goal wasn’t when I GOT the Range Rover, but the moment I SOLD it, because I realized I didn’t need it in the first place to fix my insecurities! 🙏✨
Perfect start in the week thank you Steve!

Hi Steven, your are so right and realistic about everything. That's why I love your podcasts and videos . Sometimes I think something is wrong with me, because I am overthinking everything. Every time I listen to your podcast I am glad to hear, that you are thinking the same and to see that they are a lot of other mind like people. You say what you think, a lot of people are afraid to share their opinions and don't live their true life's. The part about I am good, I agree "💯! I also dislike it, that people use this all the time. It's OK to not be OK. Be real and stay real! I also have a hard time with saying no to opportunities, I always try to follow my heart and live by faith. It's true what you say about monogamy, a lot of people, think the same and don't want to talk about it and/or admit it. It's really good that you speak your thoughts about this. And lastly, the more you are being yourself, the happier you become! That's so true! This is the key to life and living your purpose. I am already looking forward to the next podcast! 🎉🔥 💕

I think the last part about marriage needs another episode, try maybe to go back in time as to why marriage started with a certificate and what led to the system creating something like the marriage contract. If you start with that, then you will understand better why.
