Greatest Klone and I even like it better than the KTR (created by the original Klon inventor) which I also own...the Decibelics unit is modled after the owner's favorite Klon (he gives the serial number in the included literature when you buy it) and he owns more than one Klon.

The way you describe using a Klon-oid as a clean boost/tightener in front of your Dual Rec is how I use a Wampler Tumnus in front of my Archon 50, especially with 7-string. Great sound.

Might not be your field but you mention 7 string.. Thoughts on using a Golden Horse or maybe a Tumnus for more extreme extended range like 8 string or Bass VI?
I have an MXR Sugar Drive, that blended drive sound is just fantastic for making your tone "more." The Wampler Tumnus is really great, too. Love to see this OD design getting some love!
Once you get past the "omg Klon" smokescreen these are fantastic circuits.
I've got a Mythical Overdrive, an Archer and my favourite is the Golden Boost. It's a gem.
