I've heard that if he ever tries to complete Fire Emblem Awakening, there's a specific UA-camr(named N-Sight from Mindsight Games) who'd be willing to go through it with him.
Lol, I learned of fire emblem back in 2005. I was in the 5th grade and playing with 2 magnets. My classmate was so interested in them for some reason that he offered to trade my 2 magnets for Fire emblem 7. My classmate said it was a boring game and bad. Coming from a poor family and not being able to afford games I accepted the trade. Man, am I glad I did. It was fate that I found Fire emblem that day.
@@Edgeperor nah I believe it. Kids are dumb and it's a pretty hard game with lots of reading so I could believe a kid would find the game boring. I've seen kids trade for dumber thing
FuegoNintendo I remember I randomly picked it up used a few months after I got a GBA and I didn't even play it until a few weeks after I bought the game lol then after I played it I was like holy fucking shit this is a good game and I immediately checked if there was a sequel or anything and I found sacred stones. I've bought every fire emblem since
It's a shame they finally realized for a second time that advertisements sell games when Awakening was on the docket. Awakening is an awful Fire Emblem game and the fact that it's the one that got the marketing love is really sad since it shifted the series so heavily into the garbage can. But keep in mind it was the second one to get pushed heavily in the West. The first was Blazing Sword, and it sold really well even with some of the most hilariously bad advertisements in gaming.
Scorpion122178 I have a rule that in my first run of an FE game, I have to keep going no matter the costs. However, in subsequent playthroughs, I can't deal with losing anyone.
Bartholomew Peter I can only do that when I haven't played a Fire Emblem game in a while, AND when I'm playing a newer game. If I ever try out one of the older games, or especially Shadow Dragon, I reset whenever I lose a character that's useful, which in SD means any of my characters that actually have weapons because you can only see the Gaiden chapters if you have less than 15 living units and if you have that few the game throws generic units at you -_-
That's part of what kind of deters me from wanting to play Shadow Dragon. This whole thing I keep hearing about having to kill off people, which is why I choose to play the Jugral games next.
Bartholomew Peter Ah, I should mention that it's optional. It's only to get to the new chapters and extra characters that weren't in the original game. It's still a stupid way to unlock the extra levels, but you can play through the game just fine without it and then decide if the extra levels are worth it to go through again. I haven't really gone back to it more than once yet because I haven't played Awakening, Path of Radiance, Echoes, etc. yet XD
I did the same thing if it was a character I liked. When it came to Shadow Dragon, I just said screw it to everything with that game after a while. When it also came to trying to get the sword for Marth I didn't know about a certain item you could use to hit every enemy until after I got past the chapter to get Tikki.
The purpose of Eliwood and Hectors' journey changes over the story. First it's finding his father and eventually changes to finding the hero weapons in order to thwart the Black Fang and Nergel's plans to open the Dragon Gate.
for what, the first ten chapters? Cuz then he hits a wall at level 20 and turns into a throne seizing bot for the next 12 chapters. Not saying our boy is bad, but the devs screwed him over with his late promo
Permadeath only becomes a problem if you always reset for every single character. But the game clearly isn't meant to be played that way. It keeps throwing new units at you to compensate for what you've lost. I recommend resetting only for your absolute favourites.
Or just use an emulator and save state every turn. That's actually how I practiced the game. I used save states to learn the advantages and disadvantages of certain characters and best fit my play style
I'm the kind of player who refuses to let anyone die. Ever. So... I ended up resetting a lot until I got good at the game. Now I only occasionally have to reset when RNG flips me the bird. The biggest thing is taking your time and not rushing into fights. Even for stages where you're trying to beat them within a certain turn limit, you can usually figure out a strategy that lets you do it without being reckless with your precious units.
I never thought I would see this. These games are hellish to 100% complete. Remember kids, if you want to play a Fire Emblem game, always just finish it the way you want to instead of trying to complete it because IT'S HELL to do so.
Kind of waiting for him to do a Disgaea game. Yes, they're primarily a Sony franchise but we've had 'em on Nintendo systems just not very much, plus Switch is getting the complete package of Disgaea 5 so I'd love to see Jirard tackle that XD
Big warning, Jirard: Lunatic difficulty in newer FE games is just the devil. It took me MONTHS to get through the tutorial mission in Awakening on Lunatic+... So be careful when you pick your next FE game to 100%
27:30 "Dear Jirard, Your job sucks. I hate you. Play me forever. Love, FIRE EMBLEM!!!!!!" Yoooooo that part had me dyingggg! I've never heard or seen of this channel before, but your rage resonated through my bones in a way I could never imagine possible through a youtube video before. Subbed.
humans. dragons. long ago, the two species lived in harmony. then, everything changed when the fire nation attacked. Only the strategist, master of all Three weapon types, could stop them. But when the world needed him most, he vanished. A 100 years passed, and my soldiers and I, discovered the new strategist, an apartment dweller named Mark. And although his strategies are great, he still has a lot to learn before he's ready to beat anyone. But I believe, mark can save the world.
As a Fire Emblem completionist, I have to say you 'completed it' when you manage to beat the hardest difficulty!! In Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn, doing the hardest difficulty AND having every character survive - which I did - is insane. Not recommended.
harm991 can confirm for tellius series I did both. didn't struggle too much with por on hard mode after first half probably cuz I focused on 7 units. would love to try the maniac mode if it wasn't exclusive to Japan. radiant dawn on hard really tested my patience. all without anyone dying
Path of Radiance is not that bad, if only by virtue of the fact that our most difficult mode is Hard Mode, and not the Japanese Maniac Mode, but Radiant Dawn really is tough as nails above 'Easy' mode (Which is actually Normal mode, but lol-mistranslation).
Path of Radiance has some ridiculous unlock bonuses, though! You have to beat the game up to 15 times to unlock characters like Petrine and Ashnard as useable characters in the trial maps, then you have to link the game to the GMA titles to unlock some character potraits and trial maps.
@Marcus Paul bitch have you played the mission "living legend" on hector hard mode WITH the lords having total XP under 800? the boss there is strong, fast (yes he moves) and there is fog of war
You eat JRPGs for breakfast? How many JRPGs have you completed on the show? Not many I can think of. I saw Golden Sun footage! When are you going to complete that?!
Blob Is Bored he was talking about when his “troops get decimated” so there’s every chance he just recorded that footage to show his unit dying rather than an actual play through of the game. The footage was from the very beginning of the chapter after all so probably got the footage then just reset it.
It was the very first game I played so it will forever have a special place in my heart but I can still put down my fanboy glasses and admit that it does have a mediocre story at best.
Country* or Nation* or Confederacy/Alliance* A Kingdom implies it's ruled by a monarchy/king. The Lycian Alliance isn't that - it's an alliance of citystates, each ruled by a Marquis/Marquess. Yeah sure, there's one that acts as sort of a leader for all of them (Ostia in this game's timeline), but the amount of authority the leader actually has isn't what you'd think. The game makes it clear the only thing that keeps Ostia in charge is that the leader is good at diplomacy and has a strong enough military to act if one of the other marquis step out of line... and it's a tenuous alliance at best.
I'm so happy you decided to cover a Fire Emblem Game finally! No matter what you think of this game, I love and appreciate the fact that you have chosen to cover this game.
I agree that all the lords are interesting, but gameplay wise lyn is like one of the worst lords in FE history imo (or maybe I just got unlucky with her growths). also, while the game itself is great and even more so a good entrance point for people interested in the series, I think its way too easy once you have this fire emblem thing down, which is why I don't believe it can be considered the best in the series. the dread and suspense the series is known for is just not present when playing this game.
YES YES YES YES YES. DO ALL FIRE EMBLEM SWORD OF SEALS! SACRED STONES! PATH OF RADIANCE! RADIANT DAWN! AWAKENING! FATES! S H A D O W S O F V A L E N T I A Maybe not shadow dragon. Thank you for doing one of my favorite games from my all time favorite franchise
the only problem with this review is that you explain the game and play it like you're meant to reset for characters, you definitely are not. You're meant to play through your mistakes, this is why you get super powerful characters later in the game like pent, hawkeye, and harken and why fire emblem 11: shadow dragon gives you gaiden chapters when a certain number of characters die and give you generic faceless characters when lots of characters die, the creator of the series, shozou kaga said himself that you're supposed to play past your mistakes. edit: okay after some thinking, I think that I could clear up some minor misconceptions About the growth rates gripe: growth rates in fire emblem are tied to individual characters, generic enemies share a variety of template growths (the enemies always use average stats) however as we see with Marcus growth rates rarely end up screwing characters over, there are many things that can make up for poor growths such as weapons, stat boosters, promotion gains, and weapon ranks. There are also thresholds that characters reach that allow them to do well in terms of stats, you only need a certain amount of speed to stop being doubled by most enemies and a certain speed stat that you need to start doubling most enemies. about the map sprites: you act like this game is trying to be hardcore and serious. It's not. These games are rarely marketed as challenging hardcore games, their challenge is inherently only rooted within those who try to play the game like any other rpg, if you try to use stinky archers for class variety, you're going to struggle, if you don't use marcus because he ''steals exp'' you're going to struggle, sure you can make any character good in these games but that doesn't mean it's not going to be more difficult because of it. When you recognize what works, like high movement units, flying units, and not lyn you're going to find that these games have a pretty average difficulty, this game is considered to be stupid easy on normal mode by fire emblem fans. The map sprites are supposed to look cartoonish and simple. Also calling the sprites ugly is something that I very much disagree with, as a romhacker of these games it is way too difficult to make mountains and terrain look half as natural as they do in the vanilla game, and that's with a great tool like FEbuilder. hit rates: the hit rate system promotes high accuracy hitrates and punishes low hit rates. anything over 50% is generally about 10% higher than it actually is. while anything under 40% is generally 10% lower than it actually is. the only things that doesn't abide by this is critical hit rates, those are normal.
SPOILERS!!!!!!!!! 10:45 Nergal is not the leader of the Blackfang... he used a morph called Sonia to seduce Brendan reed, who IS the leader, to take control of the blackfang. Initially the black fang were actually vigilantes, targeting the rich, helping the poor kind of thing.
This and Fire Emblem 4: Genealogy of the Holy War are the best games in the entire series, without a doubt in my mind. Fire Emblem 4 was remarkably deep for when it came out, and Fire Emblem 7 has a much better cast than 6.
ZeroSigma1 I dunno, I really liked how huge the maps were. Probably still some of the biggest maps in the series. I think the only map I didn't like is the map where you get Jamke and Deirdre around the same time, because there's an obnoxious bottleneck forest. But that's about it for me.
Yeah a lot was lost in the translation from 2D to 3D. Then Fates took the worst aspects of awakening and almost ruined the series. Thank God 3H was as good as it was
Some are good for beginners and some are terrible with some such as awakening for beginners and radiant dawn is terrible for beginners trust me that was the game I played first and I hated as well I loved it
The first game which allowed you to pair units was not Awakening... it was Fire Emblem 4... which came out 16 years earlier... Pls respec the ol' gams. Also, when you talked about having to reset every chapter, that is really only a necessity in Awakening onwards due to units being front-loaded (ignoring kids) and later joining allies joining literally right before the final map, or being really underwhelming, or both. The way earlier games were balanced took permadeath into account and gave you generally well-balanced units throughout the game as opposed to the aforementioned front-loading, so a lot of the time you have the option of pushing forward without the unit you lost, giving you a choice between time or the lost unit, which I think more players should think about when playing, I'm not saying you have to play that way, but I do think that more people should keep in mind that they are not required to reset if any unit dies. Also also, casual was added in FE12 not Awakening(FE13), I understand that this video must have taken a long time to script, record and edit, but do you think you could double-check some of your facts. I don't mean to seem petty, but a lot of these seemingly small mistakes end up making it seem that you didn't really research the franchise and instead went off of your pre-existing knowledge. Also also also, regarding the beginning, how was it a sequel, exactly? Also also also also, 7:53 Linia, really? Why you gotta do my gurl like that?
I remember maxing all my characters and job advancement levels and collecting every single weapon in the game during my youth... I love this game and Sacred stones to death. Thanks for bringing back the nostalgia!
What do you mean? Yes they did. They made a kinda dumb joke out of it, but Alex knew that FE7 was a prequel to FE6. It can also be called a "sequel" inasmuch that it was the next game in the series after Binding Blade. They got their stuff right.
Man I adore this series, been a massive fan of the FE series ever since this game was release to the west. I'm impressed man, I was only ever able to get around 95% of the support conversations. Honestly never knew how to max out Karla's support conversations when you got her so late in the game. Damn I miss those epic sprite animations though...
The endgame chapter, Light, has the second phase where you fight a different boss. It actually counts as a seperate battle, so you can build those Karla supports there.
Hm yea I do sorta recall doing that, didn't you need to finish a stage in a limited amount of turns to unlock one of those bonus stages? I think I remember trying to get them but they just didn't happen for me, I got like a B. honestly though its been such a long time.
The permadeath definitely adds to the game in more positive ways the negative for me. I would always restart chapters if I lost someone but I remember making it to the final chapter of the game and Kent, got hit by an archer I wasn't watching for. Killed him and I had one turn left to beat the game. I let him go and it felt like his death was part of the story.
This was the 1st rpg stragedy game i'd ever played. I bought it as soon as it came out and have been hooked ever since. The characters were so fleshed out they felt like real people. I would replay battles if my favorite character died. As a gal in high school, I even did an art project using cut outs of the characters from the official game guide. So the GBA games and the wii game are pretty much my favorite games of all time. Also Lyndis and Fiona for ever! And Matthew's back story just broke my heart. I loved the sound test, I would play "Together we ride" on loop.
The amount of people who still to this day, think that the ONLY difference between casual and classic modes in FE Awakening was how often you have to reset, honestly astounds me. Its nothing short of ignorance. NOT having to account for permadeath allows for exploitation of bum rush type strategies with braindead execution that frankly has no business calling itself a "strategy" game. Sure restarting is frustrating. And if you're the type to drop a good game because of frustrating moments, i feel sorry for you. But for those of us who keep playing in spite of frustration, we find that the frustration often helps to train us. It is a harsh lesson on how not to play. And games with harsh, even frustrating punishments for failure are not a bad thing. I think he raised a good point in this video when he said "for someone like me who has to complete the game in just a few weeks..." this is the disconnect that will forever exist between games reviewers and game enthusiasts. You cant accurately tell how much i'll like a game if i play for enjoyment and satisfaction, and you play as a job on a tight deadline. In that case your opinion will always be biased against anything that punishes with loss of progression. Because it gets in the way of your deadline and as a result stresses you out more, influencing your overall opinion and enjoyment.
Oh man I was like 8 years old when I played Fire Emblem. I learned the complexity of its battle system and its story as I replayed and replayed it over the years. Loooove this game.
For all you lonely teens out there. Standing next to the person you have a crush on does not build support conversations. Or relationships. It does unlock restraining orders though.
The fundamental issue of permadeath that so few people realize is that while resetting and replaying missions has become the norm amongst players, it's not really how the developers intended it to be played (which is why you have so many more units than you will ever actually use) characters dying is supposed to hurt, but if you choose to reset afterwards, you can't really complain about it being tedious when just continuing the game normally would completely circumvent that problem. ADDENDUM: I understand that in completing the game that's obviously not an option, but to the standard player it is a very different experience
Actually that's not completely true. The developers are aware that people reset and even play the game that way themselves. That's why the casts of fire emblem have been getting smaller and smaller. The game with the largest cast was the 3rd game (and it's remake) back before they knew that most people would reset if a unit died. In an interview, a developer even wore a shirt that said "Reset? Bring it on!"
Man this game brings back so many memories. It's still my favorite Fire Emblem game to this day and I'd play it again any day. Regardless of how I feel about the permanent character death. =] Good job on the review as always Jirard! I look forward to the next one.
At first I didn't think it would be that bad since there is no limit to number of support you can get, but then I remembered in order to 100% the support log you would have to play through the game a total of 47 times since Robin can S-rank with every single unit other than him/herself and his/her child. At least it only takes like 45 minutes to beat the entire game if you solo it with Robin and skip every cutscene/enemy phase/battle.
Pretty sure you can just get Robin up to A-Rank with everyone in one run, save and then S-Rank and reset as many times as you want to get the rest registered, perhaps with saving in a different slot. That being said it would have to be a playthrough dedicated to support conversations probably on easy mode for as little pain as possible
Ok, this is like 8 months late, and I'm gonna be "that guy," but the Japanese name "Rekka no Ken/烈火の剣" can be translated in a myriad of ways. The only character I'm gonna focus on is 剣, this is the same character for ken or tsurugi based on how it's read, which is why it's used for both FE 6 (封印の剣 = sword of seals, binding blade) and 7 (烈火の剣 = blazing sword, blazing blade, sword of flame). Nintendo and IS have officially recognized Blazing Blade as the English subtitle for the sake of branding, but technically any reading of the name is acceptable.
Septimus Ehh...there are some canonical parings in the game, though, like Pent and Louise that would make that hard. The game likely should just go the Echoes route with supports.
What do you think A rank is? Characters can get married. They just don't have children. Genealogy, Awakening, and Fates have it where the children can be units

No way, a Fire Emblem video?
I mean, who is this, and what have you done with Jirard?
AceBen next thing yknow he'll complete the all stars pack .
That’s the kind of story that sounds really fake but at the same time I don’t think you can make that kind of stuff up
@@Edgeperor nah I believe it. Kids are dumb and it's a pretty hard game with lots of reading so I could believe a kid would find the game boring. I've seen kids trade for dumber thing
When the reviewed game is Blazing Sword, but the thumbnail artwork is Roy from Binding Blade

same
but to be fair the art used at the end of the completionist's intro is actually eliwood with the durandal

Fire Emblem: Before Everyone went nuts over it
FuegoNintendo I remember I randomly picked it up used a few months after I got a GBA and I didn't even play it until a few weeks after I bought the game lol then after I played it I was like holy fucking shit this is a good game and I immediately checked if there was a sequel or anything and I found sacred stones. I've bought every fire emblem since
FuegoNintendo I find it a good thing that it got extremely popular, this series deserves it. It was such an underrated game until awakening came out
Especially because it would've died at Awakening if it didn't become main series.
FuegoNintendo pretty much
It's a shame they finally realized for a second time that advertisements sell games when Awakening was on the docket.
Lyns mode: tutorial waifu mode.
Eliwoods: normal mode
Hectors mode: Eliwoods mode but with Pegasus knights everywhere.
But Hector *LOVES* Killing Pegasus Knights
@Rellyali1987 He Can Marry 2 Actually, But For Real Doh, We ALL Know That Hector X Lyn Is The OTP In FE7, Along With Eliwood & Ninian, Of Course
Lyn Hard mode=Waifu Mode
Ellliwood hard mode= Exactly what it sounds like
Hector Hard mode=FUUUUUUUUUU-
See I didnt know this and thought I had done something cool
Lyn bad though
Every time I lost a unit I reset my GBA and started the chapter over. Doesn't even matter if it was a unit I never used.
"There's no crying in Fire Emblem!"
Uhh... actually, there's *a lot* of crying in Fire Emblem. It's pretty much part of the experience
Remember what happened after getting the Durandal for the first time? Because I do.
GENEALOGY INTENSIFIES
Basically every game I've played from the series has really sad moments.
If you don't like the map showing in the background while fighting, you can change it via settings.
I never understood why people don't like perma-death.
Because I never let any of MY units die.
HA
Not really. Just don't be an idiot and don't put your units in danger.
Hence why you don't reset to get them back. Because it's tiring and not fun.

dude, eliwood's tale is more about finding his father, he just happened to get tangled with black fang along the way,
The purpose of Eliwood and Hectors' journey changes over the story. First it's finding his father and eventually changes to finding the hero weapons in order to thwart the Black Fang and Nergel's plans to open the Dragon Gate.

Thumbnail has Jirard dressed as Roy
I am confused
victikirby15 They look basically identical.
Except one of them is cool. And the other one is Roy.
not!Quacksely Yo, I guess I got lucky, but Roy was leading the charge in my playthrough.
for what, the first ten chapters? Cuz then he hits a wall at level 20 and turns into a throne seizing bot for the next 12 chapters. Not saying our boy is bad, but the devs screwed him over with his late promo
KhaPha Naw, man, except for like the last couple chapters, he was tearing it up. I got lucky rolls I guess.
Permadeath only becomes a problem if you always reset for every single character. But the game clearly isn't meant to be played that way. It keeps throwing new units at you to compensate for what you've lost. I recommend resetting only for your absolute favourites.
Unfortunately my current place in Sacred Stones has me controlling litteraly only some favorites with 2 non-cared about.
When I first played this game, I reseted so many times for Dorcas. He kept eating bad mutton.
All the units are my favorite therefore I will always reset on character death
Or just use an emulator and save state every turn. That's actually how I practiced the game. I used save states to learn the advantages and disadvantages of certain characters and best fit my play style
I'm the kind of player who refuses to let anyone die. Ever. So... I ended up resetting a lot until I got good at the game. Now I only occasionally have to reset when RNG flips me the bird. The biggest thing is taking your time and not rushing into fights. Even for stages where you're trying to beat them within a certain turn limit, you can usually figure out a strategy that lets you do it without being reckless with your precious units.
To think I would see the day Jirard would make a Fire Emblem video. OoO;
I never thought I would see this. These games are hellish to 100% complete. Remember kids, if you want to play a Fire Emblem game, always just finish it the way you want to instead of trying to complete it because IT'S HELL to do so.
My 300+ hour Awakening playthrough to fill the support log can attest to that.
Kind of waiting for him to do a Disgaea game. Yes, they're primarily a Sony franchise but we've had 'em on Nintendo systems just not very much, plus Switch is getting the complete package of Disgaea 5 so I'd love to see Jirard tackle that XD
Linkmstr I love your profile picture lol
Big warning, Jirard: Lunatic difficulty in newer FE games is just the devil. It took me MONTHS to get through the tutorial mission in Awakening on Lunatic+... So be careful when you pick your next FE game to 100%
I like challenges... but sometimes, you gotta draw a line in the sand, you gott- ah; you know the rest :) I may give it a try, though.
Thank you for posting that. I thought I genuinely sucked dick for not being able to beat that level on lunatic plua

Bartholomew Peter Kuma plays Fire Emblem?
Yes. Along with my bible I make sure to always carry a gameboy advance or a 3ds. I have to get my tactical fix somehow.
Every loves sain. Everyone
Not me. I hate em.
shupasopni gasp of utter and complete shock! But how? He was the best character in that game.
So was lyn, and all the Pegasus knights
And everyone in fire emblem
sain was probably actually the best character in blazing blade
humans. dragons. long ago, the two species lived in harmony. then, everything changed when the fire nation attacked.
I love this. Nice Avatar: The Last Airbender reference!
Bravo. Bravo.
Lmao i love you
Would’ve been funnier if it was about Paladins, since they actually have all three weapon types and are busted enough to make it make some sense

I #$&@ing love you
I'm also commenting on this when your comment is a year old!
Well I commenting 3 years later
"Beat a scary boss"

He is the hardest boss wym
@Marcus Paul bitch have you played the mission "living legend" on hector hard mode WITH the lords having total XP under 800? the boss there is strong, fast (yes he moves) and there is fog of war
"these dialogue boxes aren't my thing"
but Zelda can do no wrong huh? c'mon mah man
You eat JRPGs for breakfast? How many JRPGs have you completed on the show? Not many I can think of.
I saw Golden Sun footage! When are you going to complete that?!
Well, in general, the guy has played his fair share of em.
12:54 did... did you just... attack an enemy that you visibly saw that you could do 0 damage to?
Blob Is Bored he was talking about when his “troops get decimated” so there’s every chance he just recorded that footage to show his unit dying rather than an actual play through of the game. The footage was from the very beginning of the chapter after all so probably got the footage then just reset it.
Gotta get that WEXP
"Their's no crying in Fire Emblem" truer words have never been spoken
And if there is, smack it until it stops.
that was a nice reference to that baseball movie called A League of Their Own since the actual movie quote is "There's no crying in Baseball."
The music in this game is SO GOOD. Pretty much every track is a banger. Especially that Black Fang theme.
So is anyone gonna leave a comment talking about Sacred Stones? No? Ok.
SuperKamiGaming Sure. Sacred stones is a game, a Fire emblem game........Done
Because Sacred Stones can speak for itself
It was the very first game I played so it will forever have a special place in my heart but I can still put down my fanboy glasses and admit that it does have a mediocre story at best.
SS is the best GBA game
Yes... Dah Scared Scones. Delicious
"kingdom named Caelin" Auch my lore hurts.
Caelin is a County of the Lycia Alliance, Lycia IS the kingdom.
Country* or Nation* or Confederacy/Alliance*
A Kingdom implies it's ruled by a monarchy/king.

"Mario Kart Double Dash, which is the best Mario Kart"
YES
Literally the best Fire Emblem.
Great story, all the lords are interesting and the game is actually balanced.
evertime123 "balanced" tell that to hector
evertime123 I'm playing through Binding Blade right now and I'm wondering what balance even is. So much pain, so much difficulty.
Karla and Eliwood-mode Eliwood resent that statement.
@Bartholomew Peter just get gonzales, and give him an iron axe, by the end of the game he'll be tanking dragons, with just an iron axe.

Also I would've watched the heck out of you playing this game on Super Beard Bros
I like how you ignored the games that were Pre GBA.
Sam Hassel lol I noticed that too 😂😂😂
RIP Thracia
I think shadow dragon is worth playing
the only problem with this review is that you explain the game and play it like you're meant to reset for characters, you definitely are not. You're meant to play through your mistakes, this is why you get super powerful characters later in the game like pent, hawkeye, and harken and why fire emblem 11: shadow dragon gives you gaiden chapters when a certain number of characters die and give you generic faceless characters when lots of characters die, the creator of the series, shozou kaga said himself that you're supposed to play past your mistakes.
edit: okay after some thinking, I think that I could clear up some minor misconceptions
About the growth rates gripe: growth rates in fire emblem are tied to individual characters, generic enemies share a variety of template growths (the enemies always use average stats) however as we see with Marcus growth rates rarely end up screwing characters over, there are many things that can make up for poor growths such as weapons, stat boosters, promotion gains, and weapon ranks.
The last 7 minutes of this video is pure gold😭
Hey Pat, I love your videos man!
7:13 Triggered me really hard when you put footage of Fates and were actually talking about Awakening.
It’s okay. You don’t need to correct them on the plot of FE7. It’s not very well written anyway.
Yah, you can see he makes a lot of mistakes regarding the game, like the survival ranking.

GrayFoxHound9 both versions were released in 2003
This and Fire Emblem 4: Genealogy of the Holy War are the best games in the entire series, without a doubt in my mind.
+ZeroSigma1 there was some good and bad things in fe4 map design, but it's definitely not the worst in my opinion. That honor goes to gaiden.
i dont know anout the mapdesign, but the maps perfectly hit into the contient because of their shape and scale.
I think the sprite artwork is better than any 3d models. And that's why I keep going back to these games.
Yeah a lot was lost in the translation from 2D to 3D. Then Fates took the worst aspects of awakening and almost ruined the series. Thank God 3H was as good as it was
I disagree, models looked fine just.the poor resolution on the 3DS and DS consoles
we need an advanced wars review :P
I second this! I love that series =D
I bought Echoes today and im so happy! It's amazing trust me you should play it!
Silly moth. *ALL FIRE EMBLEM GAMES ARE GOOD* silly.
*DON'T FORGET*

Wild Productions Too true
What do you mean? Yes they did. They made a kinda dumb joke out of it, but Alex knew that FE7 was a prequel to FE6. It can also be called a "sequel" inasmuch that it was the next game in the series after Binding Blade. They got their stuff right.
ShermTank7272 They were saying all that stuff about the NES version. I guess I didn't understand that it was a joke.
Wild Productions I
i got the joke, but still complained in the comments because that doesnt make sence xD that can actually confuse people
Zoo in which rich kids get to pet Gorillas through the glass, what Zoo kid you go to as a kid Jirard?
21:01 I don't want to be "that guy" but Casual mode was actually introduced in 2011's Fire Emblem: New Mystery of the Emblem
Theo Widdicombe granted, that game was Japan Only
True but it was still the first game to have Casual mode.
Also having units marry is in this game and was introduced in geneology
26:18 NO! THERE'S NO CRYING IN FIRE EMBLEM!
(insert copypasta)
Didn’t expect you to be a Fire Emblem fan, but at the same time it makes perfect sense
@@Edgeperor More of a completionist fan than a FE fan, but I at some point I might return
Also also, all was cool with the dragons and humans. But then, the Fire Nation attacked.
Does the fire nation have the fire emblem?
Paulo Roberto as someone who's played a lot of FE I can confirm the fire nation always has the fire emblem
Le' Derp well say that to.... shit you are right
I fell in love with this game. I am personally attached to the characters.
"Dust off my old copy of Awakening."
*Shows Fates footage*
my biggest request and finally you did it. I really wanted to see what you thought of these games.
Of course they understand that it happens but i think their original vision of the series definitely did not include reseting.
Man this game brings back so many memories. It's still my favorite Fire Emblem game to this day and I'd play it again any day. Regardless of how I feel about the permanent character death. =]
Good job on the review as always Jirard! I look forward to the next one.
I'm sad he hasn't done another FE completionist video :(
yes I love this game!💓💓💓💓
100% Awakening. I want to see you both 100% the support log and beat Lunatic+ on Classic. Because I want to see you suffer!!!
Lunatic+ on Classic with no Casualties*
I managed to do this after like months of playing and quitting. Made me want to die inside. It was unbelievably tempting to use a tutorial lol.
Jacob Greenstone you are so cruel
I want this to happen
The completionist play through of FE is not how you play it. It will LITERALLY kill you
Knock, knock

Welp, time to be that guy.
The subtitle is actually "Blazing BLADE". This can be seen in both Fire Emblem Heroes and the chapter title of this game.
DarkLink1996 He actually used both in the video at different points
DarkLink1996 isn't it Binding Blade and Blazing Sword? I didn't think they were both blade.
BlueFulcon nope
WHAT I like literally just got into this series and beat this game
What the shit it's only been a year.
I remember when this game came out and like 50% of the topics on Game FAQs and FE fan sites were "Is Marth and Roy in this game!?"
>Talks about Awakening.
>Shows Fates.
Casual or sneaky trolling?
Casual.
Did Jirard know he could name the tactician? (Also Hector best GBA lord)
Is he gonna do Three Houses? I feel like that would take an eternity lol
Watched this video twice because it is so refreshing to have a fresh view on the series not blinded by nostalgia.
LOL "There's no crying in Fire Emblem!"
I hope Fire Emblem will be fair...
A HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
I think you should do it in the overseas release order, so that Sacred Stones is up next.
It triggers me that the thumbnail represents FE6 even when he is reviewing FE7.
I think it might be a reference to all the people who mix up eliwood and Roy
I wouldn't doubt it if they re-did this game with romance elements added in. The supports are basically begging to ship units together.

I mean they do but it's in the previous game
I see the video on my sub feed. I knew Jirard was going to lose his mind trying to 100% this.
