About The Game: Pokémon Ruby Version and Sapphire Version are the third installments of the Pokémon series of role-playing video games, developed by Game Freak published by The Pokémon Company and distributed by Nintendo for the Game Boy Advance. The games were first released in Japan in late 2002 and internationally in 2003. Pokémon Emerald, a special edition version, was released two years later in each region. These three games (Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald) are part of the third generation of the Pokémon video game series, also known as the "advanced generation". Remakes of the two games, titled Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, were released for the Nintendo 3DS worldwide on November 21, 2014, exactly twelve years to the date of the original Ruby and Sapphire release date, with the exception of Europe, where it was released on November 28, 2014.

Did you guys know when the intro was made Gerard shaved to film the first part then waited 6 months to film the level up witth his beard. When editing he figured out he could have done it the opposite way and decided to redo it so he would look more the same without the long wait period, but......since the shaved part was suppose to be first, he shaved again before filming the second part......took 3 years to get it right but decided to just use the original intro.

My little mind was blown in 2003 when I got the game after playing Yellow and Gold. Hoenn still impresses me.
Ominous Cap I never liked gen 3 but ORAS with its graphics made me appreciate the older games.
I think gen 3 was the first one I really latched onto after being too young to appreciate silver when I had it, and consequently getting so used to the region and pokemon that gen 4 never impressed me as much. Hoenn always has a special place in my heart.

I would say that Gen 2 was the last game where it was reasonable to complete the pokedex in a week, Gen 3 is possible, but crazy. To do so in Gen 4 and beyond is insanity.

I must say you are an inspiration to me. I've always been the type of person to completely finish a game and the level of dedication it takes for the Pokemon games is what made me a fan of them. They're no easy task and certainly not short lol

He said that Deoxys and other pokemons that is impossible to catch without the tickets(from events), one of his friends help him with that, I think that explain where he got those pokemons. ( Sorry for my english, it's my second language).
Luckily your completed National Dex in this game will help out a ton when you get to Diamond, Pearl and Platinum assuming you have "living dex" that way you don't have to go through HeartGold and SoulSilver. If you Game Sharked the needed tickets for Deoxys, Mew, Ho-Oh and Lugia that is OK by me.
Don't tell him about shiny pokemon..and being in the dex.

Migrating all those critters is going to take FOREVER.
I had a complete gen 3 dex (can't remember if it was living dex at this point)
it took me hours to transfer them to Pearl as you have to (once at the location)
1. Pick the 6 you want to transfer
2. Find them
3. Catch them
If i remember it was like the safari zone, so they could flee forcing you to do steps 2-3 over and over
Actually that kind of never happens, because Pal Park gives you their kind of park balls that 100% catches all the Pokemon you transferred, unlike Safari Zone.
Waiting for Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum with even more 3rd game Torture
When it comes time for DPP, luckily for Jirard, there's the Pal Park. Unluckily for Jirard, the Pal Park only works once per day in D/P/P. Luckily again for Jirard, there isn't a restriction in HG/SS and you can trade them over. This game's completion will be a valuable asset in gen 4. Godspeed, Completionist.
As a casual viewer I cannot stress enough how spectacular the new transitions and music accompaniment are.

ForeverRanger 91 I can't understand how that wasn't a thing in earlier generations, some pokemon attack and special are basically useless. You can teach them TMs but they don't get STAB from them.
Likely software/hardware limitations had something to do with it.
João Filho you couldn't transfer up from gen 1 and 2 to 3 as it was an entirely different engine and coding language for the games so it made it exceptionally hard/ Impossible

I've recently completed Pokémon HeartGold... except for the Battle Frontier. I've seriously done everything: completed the National Pokédex, fought and rematched every trainer, explored every area and gained 4 Trainer Stars, all of that stuff.
But that final Trainer Star and the Silver and Gold Prints will probably elude me forever. I've tried over and over again, but the Battle Frontier is so infuriating and filled with so much random bullshit and hax, that I will never be able to complete those aspects of Pokémon HeartGold (and Platinum, for that matter).
I'm still very proud of what I've achieved in that game, but sheesh... Screw the Battle Frontier, man.

good thing is that now with a full dex that can transfer it'll make later gamrs easier to complete.
On top of that, Colosseum is a completely separate game. Different plot, not a remake of a previous game. Since Jirard had to dip into that one to get a handful of Pokemon, and it has the smallest internal roster out of all the different Pokemon games (not including Pokemon Snap, if you want to get smart-ass about it), on top of not having the ability to trade TO it and only from it, he could easily take a couple more hours and knock out another Completionist episode very quickly. It would give him a bit of a longer break between games.
I think he technically had to fully complete both Colosseum and Colosseum XD, though I feel like he would have mentioned that if he actually did. Those games are the only way to get Ho-oh and Lugia in 3rd gen, and you only get them as the reward for entirely completing those games.
You can technically get them in Firered and Leafgreen, but it requires a mystery gift which was only distributed by Nintendo for a little while back when the games came out. It's possible they accessed the ticket through cheats, or someone already had those pokemon in a 3rd gen game so they didn't bother to go get them again.
That's true, but I think he made it a point to say that the biggest timesink for him was the Battle Frontier, and it has an equivalent in like every Pokemon game after this.
You don't have to fully beat XD Gale of Darkness to get Lugia, just need to, well, beat the story. Ho-oh however does require you to actually complete the whole thing to get.
Still kinda odd though, Completely beating all of Colosseum and then beating the 100 battles on Mt. Battle is no small feat, it's a pretty big time sink.
Catching Shadow Lugia just requires beating the story, but purifying it so you can trade it requires a lot more work. You're right though, purifying it doesn't technically requiring beat the whole game (Though that makes it easier to do).
I would wager that the other pokemon you get in XD are also necessary catches to complete the Pokedex, so you probably still have to beat most of the after-game anyway.
I loved the Pokemon Colosseum & Pokemon Stadium music in this video.
This gen was definitely the most nostalgic for me. I was going through 3rd grade when Emerald came out and i remember having so much fun playing through it. I never fully completed it though but it's nice to see someone brave enough to try.
You know one day when Jirard will inevitably be tasked with completing gen 4; there will be one easier thing about it through how you can bring your Pokemon from the Gen 3 games & the Gen 1 Remakes into your Gen 4 games.
So Jirard already has some of the hard work for Gen 4 done already.
He just needs to beat the main game and find the place where you can pull Pokemon from Gen 3 into Gen 4.
I'm not pushing for it for quite awhile; but do try to get Chuggaaconroy as a guest for Gen 4, please.
at least when he does gen 4, he can just catch the sinoh pokemon and then transfer up all of the pokemon from gens 1-3
Given he has all the first evolutions for each mon in gen1-3 + legendaries ready that is.
The only problem is with some of the mystery gift event only Pokemons. Which either he's gonna have to glitch his way for them, or Action Replay to get them.

EternaMidnight That's also from another thing basically like mystery gift, which requires access to the internet with it's own servers. Which again, since the servers for online interaction for DS and Wii system lines have been discontinued, yeah, there's no choice but cheating for that one.

This was a great episode, and as a fan who grew up with Gen III it was glorious to see Jirard do something that I struggled for one and a half years of daily play trying to do (the battle frontier) By far one of the most challenging yet addicting post-game modes in any pokemon game.
I usually don't check out things from Sunder (keep forgetting about him) but his hint towards a video regarding the removal of ORAS's battle frontier? Oh god yes, finally someone big will speak up against the dumbing down of that game. (For more reasons than the BF) Sun/Moon seemed to be a step in the right direction difficulty wise but the scars from seeing the pandering to casuals in ORAS will never heal for me. EVER.
Was a bit of a surprise to see the national dex worked on and completed in this game, considering how its the hardest Pokedex in the entire series to complete. Good on you for doing that though. I don't think DPPT will need to be on the show for a good while considering how long this took, but now that we hit gen III I hope to see Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Red/Blue completed one day.

If you don't want to torment yourself in the next generation, choose Diamond or Pearl! You should also choose the fire starter since it's typing will help you SO MUCH on your journey. These are just tips though. You can play whichever game with whatever Pokemon you want.

I have completed the National 721 Dex in ORAS with a playtime of 400 Hours.
Time to start a Shiny Dex and work on the Sun & Moon Dex!

Sapphire is still one of my favorite pokemon games ever and when they made the remaster it was awesome. The rebattling feature was a GOD send of brilliance.

I loved the Hoen region and I have put so many hours in this game :-)
A small tip, in the early game when you don't have a full team yet fill your party with "Zigzagoon", they have the ability to pick up random items that you can use or sell (like full heal, rare candies, gold nuggets and revive).
They can also learn 3 HMs like Surf/Cut, Zigzagoon's evolution can learn 4 HMs and has the same passive ability so keeping atleast one with you till late game is useful.

Gold remains my favorite, when i bought Ruby i found it taking a huge step back with what Gold added to the series. Gold and silver never seen any other pokemon game come close to what it offered sadly. Sure the animations improved and you got more pokemon then ever. But i miss the special events, the weekly events, the different things to do during the day and night, the real time day and night cycle with different pokemon to catch, etc etc. it also had a great story that helped with making it the best pokemon game in my eyes (your opinion may be different and thats okay).
I completely feel your pain about the battle frontier Jirard. I'm dead serious when I say the battle frontier single-handedly made me quit Pokemon until XY. When I came back though, all the good feelings returned. It doesn't sound like it killed your enthusiasm entirely like it did for me, but just hold on to those good memories.
