Favorite Bruce Springsteen song of all time. The local rock station, KLOL, used to play it every day back in the early Seventies. It had not been released yet but apparently his manager sent it around to a few stations around the country. He'd always play it live when he was in Houston. Like a song with a cult following.

Incredibly great song. Big man's sax and vocals really add to an amazing song

I was in Houston at that time, too, but the story I heard was that it was a bootleg copy from a recording session. I also heard that it was one of his least favorite songs which is why it was not on any of the regular released albums and that he quit performing it at his concerts. Maybe he made an exception for Houston? "The Fever" was my introduction to Bruce Springsteen. I tried to record the song off of KLOL, but always missed it.

The first time I heard" the fever" it was sung by Southside Johnny when I found out that Bruce wrote the song I waited for the day that I would hear him play it and he did, absofreakinlutly the greatest....
      Miss you Clarence Clemons 🎷🎷🎷🎶😎

Rock & Roll, Jazz, American folk (he sings it all) - a Singer, Songwriter (pure poetry), Musician, Frontman -The list goes how talented this one man is. Put him together with the amazing E St Band and magic happens. Love how he lets his band mates shine in mostly every number. Thank you Bruce for all you have given. A fan forever!

I fell in love with Bruce Springsteen and the E-Street Band... During the magical "darkness on the edge of town tour of 1978... I have seen Bruce for the last several decades and I loved every show but I always come back to the 1978 tour..." THE BEST"
THE FEVER is one of my favorites with Small things, summertime blues, and prove it all night with the insane amazing fantastic intro...💥

I remember when the late Ed Shocky (spelling?) would play this all the time on WMMR in Philly back in the early 70s. I had no idea until today it was not released until 1999. He was so big in Philly back then that I thought he was big time famous but it was not until later that happened.

Cool 👍🏽Very good that you released this on 18 Tracks. It is a masterpiece. It is so sad that Elvis died so early. It is my absolut believe that if he would be still with us...I'm sure that he would have made a record with you Bruce and the E - Street and im 1000% secure that he would choose Fever,Fire,Stand on it,and From Small things....and so on...Why i do write this ? Because this R and B at his best....Yep EXELLENT👌👌👌

Maybe it's just an impression, but Bruce's voice on that one really sounds more like how he would sing after '85 than like how he was usually singing in the late 70s-early 80s! Apart from Cadillac Ranch (and maybe Give The Girl A Kiss), I can't think of another song of that period where Bruce sounds so "Tunnel Of Love-like". If I hadn't seen the year, I would have sworn this was recorded somewhere between 1985 and 1988, incredible! When hearing Bruce singing, I can usually guess when it was recorded (more or less 2-3 years), but this one would have puzzled me completely! But maybe I'm just thinking too much!
By the way, majestic song, Bruce didn't make that many jazz rock songs, but all the ones he did were absolutely brilliant! He'll always be my absolute favorite singer, I listen to nearly everything from blues rock to death metal and from prog rock to funk, but the Boss is still unbeatable! And The E Street Band is also on fire on this recording, amazing performance!

So thrilled to see this version of Rosalita. Amazing work. So upbeat to see this variety of concert footage. This is quality entertainment from one of America's premier bands and singer/songwriters/performers. Complex musicianship and music with lyrics that tell interesting stories are really rare these days. First saw Bruce Springsteen in the beginning of his great success at an outdoor concert at Swarthmore College in the early 1970s. Stay well Bruce and Patty and band.

I just mentioned it on another site but yes first time I heard it was at the cosmic cowboy show in Houston 1974 I don't think Bruce was on the ticket but he was there and he did this song and boy it became a little cult thing in Houston at least with some of us back in those days I could wear a crop top without a bra and a pair of 501 jeans and do my Slinky dinky dance. And yes it's one of my favorites can't remember how much that ticket was I still have the stub I bet it was something like $5
