    I want to believe what Larry is saying but since his death so many have come forward claiming his stories were often exaggerations and fabrications of the truth. Shows how God is not limited by imperfect vessels. Thankful for Larry and his significant ministry and contributions to CCM.

    Steve Turner began his career with Beatles Monthly in 1969. It was a fanzine approved by Brian Epstein in 1963. Photographers were given unlimited access to the Beatles. Some of the articles were written by members of the Beatles’ entourage including Mal Evans. Knowing this makes it at least plausible that Turner may have known Lennon well enough to make it true.

    @tkkimbel According to John Lennon's (never-been-released) song "you saved my soul" I recently found that he wrote it about three weeks before he died and that he was christian at his last days. And what more, Ringo Starr has also been a christian and still is living for Jesus today!

    Thanks for the post , I was on two CDs of Larry's "Israel Tapes" & " "Copper Wires" . I meet Larry when he played with the People band 1968. What year was this video and where was it please?

    "Help me to help myself" (which I think may be one of the songs Norman could be speaking of) has been released on the 2001 re issue of Double Fantasy.

    @splang It's really a great song. I always wondered why he did that song. At that point in his life he was making music for the sake of making music, not to please anyone. So the song had to have had some shred of meaning to him.
    The claim about Lennon wanting to stop making music could just about be proven false though. The day of his assasination, he was working on Yoko's upcoming single "Walking on Thin Ice" and she recalls him being happier than ever.

    Funny thing is I heard John's last intervew with Yoko and he was making fun of Bob Dylan's faith.

      The one I’m aware of didn’t feature Yoko. It was a very bizarre home recording a year before he resumed his career. He seemed bitter and depressed. He also criticized McCartney, Jagger, & Paul Simon for becoming a part of “the machine”. Had he not heard “Some Girls”?...smh. The interviews I’ve heard from 1980 were much more upbeat & optimistic. He seemed happy to be making music again.

    "People always got the image I was an anti-Christ or anti-religion. I'm not. I'm a most religious fellow. I was brought up a Christian and I only now understand some of the things that Christ was saying in those parables. Because people got hooked on the teacher and missed the message."-John Lennon Sept. 1980

      John also said religions always get it wrong because "it all becomes about the person and not what the person said".

    After hearing this all the way. For sure Choo is wrong. And the other person on you tube who saw John in the place must also be wrong. I am a little more comforted. I really hope John is in heaven then.

    I don't believe Choo. But, others have testimony of seeing John in the place. It makes me sad. So very sad. When christians passed by him in NY...they should have shouted out Turn to Jesus or something.

    Good God, this frustrates me. You can find John Lennon's interview given the day of his death (obviously before it happened), and observe that this "wanting to retire" thing just ISN'T true. He had just come OUT of retirement to make Double Fantasy. This guy bothers me here.

    John Lennon and Larry Norman were always a huge influence on me. To publically demonize Yoko and then later saying he prays for her is about the most arrogant hypocritical thing I've ever heard to the point of being ashamed to have been a fan of Larry's. and really, where are these lost Lennon songs about Jesus and who is this, Steve Turner????

    • @ronfowlermusic
      @ronfowlermusic 7 років тому

      Steve Turner wrote a book "The Gospel According to the Beatles". He's a pretty good writer, knows a lot about the Beatles, but I have to doubt that Lennon ever converted to Christianity. He was interested in all religions at times during his life, but I don't think he ever adhered to any one of them. In one of his last interviews he identified himself with Bhuddism more than any other.

    • @glennnall
      @glennnall 7 років тому

      Larry didn't claim that Lennon converted - just that he was reading the Bible for three months. it's very irresponsible to put words in a man's mouth, especially once he's dead.
      and to "Woody," Steve Turner is very findable when one makes the effort.

    wasnt john lennon mocking God?
    "I believe in God, but not as one thing, not as an old man in the sky. I believe that what people call God is something in all of us. I believe that what Jesus and Mohammed and Buddha and all the rest said was right. It's just that the translations have gone wrong". ~John Lennon
    I really hope he become a christian before his death!!
