I miss Larry so much. He was one of the early voices crying in the wilderness. That Jesus is still alive and wants to be in fellowship with us.

This song became my anthem after I stumbled across it by accident. As a teen who’s gotten into rock music, but also loves the Lord with all my heart, I feel so understood by Larry and I love his music so much. Currently halfway through a biography written about his and I’ve never felt so well understood. Anywho, love rock music, don’t believe it’s satanic, and live and love the Lord with all that I am. ❤️

I am going through the same thought process!!! Larry said, “I’m too secular to be accepted by the church, but too Christian to fit in with the secular.” That is exactly how I feel too.
I just watched the Jesus Music movie and it changed my life. If you don’t mind me asking, what is the name of the biography?

+James Richards Hey James. I'm somewhat responsible for getting Larry on the internet I suppose. lol. Not sure if that was a good thing. But let me tell you I've never laughed harder I don't think than when larry was describing the treatment he got overseas when he had his heart attack. We were literally falling out of our chairs laughing and Larry with a totally straight face goes "uhh..I..I don't know why everyone is laughing..this ..this was really serious!" and everyone just laughed all the harder.
This was one of the most talented entertainers in history. He was pretty worn out by this time but still amazing.
Think about something for me though. It might be it'll be something you haven't considered before. When everything is just physical laws and matter/energy (matter is harmonically localized energy actually. We find this out when we collide an electron and positron of course. The mass vanishes and we are left with a cosmic ray that has the precise energy corresponding to the former mass via E=mc^2) then "Choice" is kind of a bizarre term.
Let's consider a child's first choice. Whenever it happens whether in the womb or out of the womb a child makes a choice right? Ok if the factors that determine that choice are purely physical laws and the prior state of all matter/energy the instant before the choice (including things we would call 'random' simply because we can't assess what the precise causes are of the effect) then in reality the child was responsible for exactly zero of those things. :-) Hence the child only made what appeared to be a choice.
So if you know you have choice, then you know there is a dimension beyond just the physical things we observe with physical eyes.

i'm a non theist also. check out grammatrain. they covered larry and that's how i heard about him, because they are probably the best xtian band i listened to growing up, since "secular" music was banned from my house. because of larry and groups like grammatrain, "secular music" doesnt have to mean "good music"

what is it about us that makes us neeed to know "who's callin the shots? " am I me? or am I all? hav a mind of my own? what does that mean? prima frooty, on its face, at first blush I would go with the whole people do what they want/have to ..personally, if you want to talk about things that REALLY don't exist - try lookin into Chaos Theory..far as I'm concerned THAT's the obligatory santa clause!

Rest in peace Larry loved your music, you have your critics as we all do, i don`t care what the critics are saying GOD USED YOU MIGHTILY AND CONTINUES TO DO SO WITH THE MUSIC YOU LEFT BEHIND. TO THOSE CRITICS I WOULD SAY THE ONE WHO HAS NEVER SINNED THROW THE FIRST STONE HE WASN`T PERFECT AND NEITHER ARE WE. WE WON`T BE PERFECT TILL WE GET TO HEAVEN. GOD BLESS YOU LARRY

Some of what he was saying was true. However God told me my record collection hindered me to hear God's voice. When I asked Him why I wasn't growing spiritually. So I burned them and other things He didn't like. And WOW what a change that did in my life. I'll never regret geting the "wordly" stuff out of my house. Peace

i do believe the devil gets through young people by music. but the devil will get through by many things.
but we have to be diligent in the Lord and know what is if God and what isnt. we need to worship in the spirit. God will reveal.

I wish I had a video of the one time I saw Larry Norman. It was the main stage of Cornerstone '90 in Illinois, the sun was low in the sky and was illuminating him with its warm, gold, and he was just fantastic, and I was just nominally a Larry Norman fan, but he just blew us away. I really felt the connection. It was so great.

Oh that awesome..... I started my cornerstone journey in 1998, thanks for forging the trail..... Still go to the amazing remnant, Audio feed....oh, my UA-cam pic is afeed lol
Our FATHER (whether we claim HIM or not) has blessed me beyond compare. I ran and blasphemed and mocked and I did everything else disrespectful to a FATHER that created me just to have a relationship.....HE (THE WORD) welcomed me back with open arms and with the avenue to do what I have loved since a child and such blessings.... Not tons of money, but with this amazing grace, unfathomable peace ( that passes all understanding) and the faith (because of the evidence) that HE wants us ALL to live a life as HIS disciple, child, actual family....
Thanks y'all for rocking out at early C-Stone so we could all continue 🙌

    • @The_Story_Channel
      @The_Story_Channel 6 років тому +3

Not really, the only thing that matters is what your life is now. Repentance on the part of someone who has sinned and forgiveness from God means that God no longer sees and judges the "was", God is only concerned with the is. With humans it is often the opposite, they remember past failures and sins, will not forgive, and most importantly neglect or refuse to view individuals who messed up the way God sees them.
Gods grace is a marvelous thing, without it we would all have no hope.

"Rock & Roll," "Boogie," "boggie-woogie," "Groove," "let's rock," "rock with you," "rock and roll all night," "rock around the clock," etc....have been euphemisms for 'sex' since the 1950's, as is widely understood throughout the secular music industry. They think it's funny that they've fooled so many.

How can everybody be saying he was great. When he is clearly high on something, and just talking nonsense. What is the purpose of christian music? It is called praise and worship, it is to praise and worship God. Why then are we so worried about us liking the music. Shouldn't we be worried about God liking it. The question should be: "God, what is your music preference"? Not, God I do not care about your preference I like Rock or Hiphop or whatever so you better like it and take it if I do it from my heart. No, He is a holy God let us give Him what He requires from us, not whatever we want.

Larry Norman was a gifted songwriter and musician, but I don't think his monologues have aged well. If you've read any of his writing (all his album liner notes with unattributed authorship), you know he was articulate. The air-head/pot-head persona he displayed at his appearances was all an act.

Most of this backwards masking is nonsense! Some of it may be intentional. If the lyrics have a line that has nothing to do with the song, maybe it's a masked message. I've had friends play certain songs backwards and point to some imagined messages. I'd just agree so I wouldn't look silly.

Comes across as a bit out of it on this occasion.

no wonder larry norman's popular as one to profess christianity... there's truth in good objetivity-- and sometimes it also pretends in closured perspectives such as Norman's opinion on backward masking, i dont think he really looked into it openmindedly enough, his personal prejudicial approach is greatly highlighted in flying colours

I agree. The part in stairway to heaven is obvious especially considering Jimmy pages obsession with Crowley

Stupid comment of Rolling Stones. I thought he should be wiser and understanding with fellow musicians. That comment and act of the end of the clip was really sad.

Thank GOD Geoff Moore and The Distance redid this song cause this version is just horrible. Love the message but good God Larry Norman's version is beyond listenable

Ya gotta understand that this version was written a long time before Geoff Moore redid it. This was probably s late 60s or early 70s style song, ala “California Dreamin’”.
