Retail just graphically pretty, with Theme Park questing Arcadey gameplay, but old school Vanilla , TBC , WotLK is the definition mmorpg perfection and needed to play with a bit of strategy
@@joezar33Strategy? You mean, pulling the boss and waiting a few seconds to spam one button until the boss is dead? Classic isn’t a strategy game. If anything, Retail’s difficult dungeons and raids require precise movement, pulls, CC and communication of cooldowns
Eh, not really wanting to be a god.. just enjoy the gameplay, quality of life and incredible variety of activities to do and challenge. Variety of races and ways you can customize your character
Retail players want to actually get new things, not to be stuck in a loop playing vanilla wow for 20 years. Retails has a lot of problems and I have effectively stopped playing wow, but the fact that people still do this war between classic and retail is so funny 🤣
Pally (Holy) was my first toon 20 yrs ago. Took her all the way to Rags and Ony. Then eventually Naxx. Yes it took longer to kill stuff but lord knows I didn't die as much as my little mage :D All of it is fun though.
I remember in classic (2019) that I used devine intervention for the healer when we were wiping. Divine intervention is a spell where the paladin sacrifices himself and places a bubble on the target for 3 min. When the aggro was lost the healer removed the buff and resurrected everyone. So cool
I drop into retail wow and level up to max when a new expansion drops. Then inevitably I return to Classic. My heart will always be in Classic Azeroth. It’s like a second home. Great video, really enjoyed it. ❤
Flying mounts make the game world incredibly small. That and dungeon finders killed the essence of the game before players even had a chance to ruin it
The best solution is definitely the one in the current Anniversary version of Classic, a manual dungeon finder that simply fills the place of spamming 3+ different chat channels (more convenient, reduces spam), while still letting you manually form a group with the comp and player-vetting you want, all with players on your realm. Rather than Retail sending you into a random group of unknown people on different realms that you'll never meet ever again.
Dungeon finder is irrelevant in retail. It’s only for newbies. If you’re doing anything higher than the easiest content in the game, you have to form groups.
I completely agree about Classic needing to be on GamePass. They need to figure out a way to make it "free". I think tons of people would try it out of it was a free game instead of sub based.
I am having the best time playing hardcore classic with my boyfriend and friend. I'm Ahead of the Curve Heroic Ansurek in retail, and this is the most fun I've had in months. Feels like I'm actually rewarded for progressing and surviving. I even died at 15 and had to start over... AND I WAS EXCITED TO DO SO! Scalding, valid takes. Love your stuff, she's. New follower inbound. ❤
OMG only 30 seconds in and you've basically described me in-game. Since Saturday gone I've struggled to log in and only yesterday I uninstalled to make space on the SSD for other games that I am really enjoying; Elden Ring, BG3 & D4. Looking forward to trying PoE2 as well. Really enjoying your content keep it up!!! /salute
I played 2019 classic, raided in a pretty competitive guild from Molten Core all the way through to the end of TBC classic. I leveled a character to level 10 on fresh. I’m good for now. Glad people can enjoy fresh classic again, but it’s just not for me again this point in my life.
I kinda wish there was a more difficult Retail realm, where overworld mobs are similar to classic or Tier 8 delves. Also remove flying. I think it would be AMAZING to get the best of both worlds.
If you want a really immersive experience in classic wow, use the voiceover mod - it is a game changer. Love classic wow, other players are mostly friendly, helpful, and exploring Azeroth before Deathwing had his way with it is a real treat.
I started playing classic for the first time ever this week and I'm addicted. I got into retail when TWW released after a friend invited me... I enjoyed making a lvl 11 earthen twink more than most of the endgame. Classic is what I've been looking for .. I'm lvl 19 mage at the moment. Feels good polymorphing in dungeons and saving the group, after an asspull. Community is better and yes it is really immersive. Love your content Boklahoma. Keep it up!
16 years subbed to WoW... it's the only mmo I play. Most of it retail but did the first Classic revival and SoD this year. 15 years as a ranged hunter and 1 year as melee. It's a fun spec available in one place.
I would love to play a version of WoW that is both: .05x experience… make it so I have to actually play through each expansion in order to hit max level. Not just one zone of each expansion to move onto max level content. Allow me to have ALL the professions. I want to make one character that can make his own armor, potions, gems, enchants etc. the warband system helped with this a lot, but I want to just have one character able to be 100% self sufficient
I am excited for Plunderstorm to come back because I played it once when it was introduced and wish I got to engage more with it. I've been a Classic main since 2019 but I still occasionally play Retail.
Watching you for the first time Love the video. Exactly how I feel. I mostly play retail because I enjoy the difficult dungeons. I mainly treat retail as a lobby game. But man do I enjoy the classic gameplay loop. Gearing feels good. Leveling feels good. The world feels good.
I agree. When I watched those videos I was like, “no way you’ve never played the bigger MMO ever” it even sounds fake when they act surprised when doing certain quests.
I only started playing wow when TWW released, New world got me interested in mmos, so we do exist. I've been gaming since the original Dota days, but just never felt attracted to wow. But getting into it now feels like an epic adventure. Classic is goated..feels so good playing it.
I just started for my first time ever playing WoW and i started with retail because of the free 20 levels. I was looking forward to make new connections and meet people since im playing alone. Litterally nobody talks to you everybody is just either afk, running to their chores (exactly what you said) or their are on discord with their friends. I thibk today im gonna pay the subscription and give Classic a try. I agree with what you said about putting classic on game pass! Do you have any recommendation where to start? I get confused with all the differents wow is classic and classic catalclysm the same?? Ehat does it change? Is cataclysm juts the first expansion? Great video! Much love from italy! 🇮🇹
Played the original WOW. I personally love leveling, exploring and it, as you found out, amazing. The story ad why I'm in a location is immersive. Not a rp'er. Even though I do that with Retail. What they call classic now Is and alway will be nostalgic and fond memories!! Side note. If you're into addons. I'm using one called Voice-Overs. It voices the quest givers. It was also made for Classic only, with different VO's for different npc's. One thing the retail version I wish had.
One of the most important differences is that classic is an RPG while retail is an action game. Take any 3 seconds slice of combat from both and compare. In retail you're dancing all around trying to keep track of what the hell is happening on screen underneath seven layers of spell effects on micro second time scales, dance dance pixel vomit. In classic you're waiting for the auto swing timer. There's a reason I haven't touched retail in God knows how many expansions.
Here’s an idea! Do that same thing for a different MMO… I couldn’t justify playing WoW due to the subscription so I’ve always played GW2 and didn’t expect to like classic WoW as much as I have… literally started less than a week ago😂 I might just make that video to spite you!😜😂
I love classic, will probably never go back to retail. However sometimes I do miss the little extra bells and whistles like achevements, or pet collecting and battles, or transmog appearances that dont effect regular gameplay at all
Not Flying killed the community, Teleporting did. In the good ol´days you are standing in IF, SW, OG, UC and searched for a group or raid and then you all go together into an adventure. Now you klick two buttons get teleported into the void and spit out where ever no hi no tactics just og og og looten und leaving, it´s sad. But i don´t have the time to play classic these days =/
I think that some of the videos of people playing WoW for the first time are legit, particularly when you consider there's a whole generation of people who never touched the game. Millennials (and older of course) make up the bulk of people who played the game. Many of us started when we were young teenagers or kids. But twenty years has passed, honestly enough time for TWO generations of people to have grown up and never touched the game. But do keep in mind I said SOME. Vast majority are fake as fuck. Comes with the territory of playing this damned game so long, but I pick up on things that give them away quick. Particularly the ones who suck at editing, or whoever they farmed the editing out to didn't know to remove things like a "new" player having several pets in their collection which aren't from some Overwatch/Diablo thing, and have a fully set up pet battle team.
My friend group didn't play original vanilla but fell in love with Classic back in 2019 (well, slightly before on Nostalrius), despite playing Retail at a high level Classic is just more fun. No M+ is certainly a big plus, I just wanna raid.
I'm 35 , only started playing wow for the first time when TWW released. It was cool but not what I was hoping for, over the past few months I've been addicted to wow content. And this week a friend's said come play classic.... I'm loving it. It reminds me of frozen throne LANs we would have back in the day. Playing Dota and wolf vs sheep ect... it's so quirky... what an epic game... and I've not even seen 1/10th of it? I ran wailing caverns for the first time tonight.. it was such fun. The tank had to leave for some irl reason. The 4 of us who were left just carried on.. it was a pug but we grinned on through.. was a great experience. Had a few close calls but we finished it together..
I love classic wow but its the only version of wow I really like. Also I don't like how we're already confirmed to go into TBC which means we're getting shit that kills the game like flying eventually. I just want classic plus where we just stay on azeroth, something like OSRS.
A middle ground between the simplicity of classic and complexity of retail should be the aim. the bloat in retail is not it. i always give the league of legends example, there are a lot of one trick ponies in league who have been playing the same champion for years hitting the same 4 buttons and having a blast . (i don't think wow should have 4 buttons it's just an example)
so why not play on RP servers? immers yourself in a world that was actually imagined to play like, you know, the RPG part of mmoRPG? not a mmo-EfficiencySimulator... watch video "Why You Should Take Your Time in World of Warcraft" maybe you will step aside from blaming everubody else on a problem of "everybody else doing x and not y so i will never to y thing because i dont want to be inefficient", my entire country(Ukraine) is in this state atm, we have this conversation about our language and this mentality leads nowhere - Start from yourself, get into a community that wants to RP or enjoy WoW not a treadmill of efficiency... break the cycle...
Classic combat is too boring for me. But Season of Discovery is classic but better in every way. As a retail player, I completely disagree with the social aspect because as soon as you move higher than newbie content, the game is quite challenging and requires communication. Sadly the high wears off quick in Classic when the community gets bored and moves on. I would highly recommend Season of Discovery if you want that Classic experience with modern gameplay improvements.
7:30 disagree, just ride your mount if you feel like it, are you late somewhere? gonna miss a train? its the limitation if no one is allowed to fly, but its a choice is you are allowed to fly but CHOOSE to enjoy ground traversal
It’s not a choice in game design. If some people are getting there faster and easier no one will ever go slow. Not when it’s a 1:1 same thing but slow vs fast. Although I don’t agree that flying killed immersion or community. Flying was expensive and slow flying wasn’t always the best option in BC. I think itemization, dungeon finder teleporting, power balance (between players and mobs) and class homogenization are bigger contributors.
