Like a kid in a candy store! Congrats Kenny, enjoy your new kit, btw, you are one of my favourite drummers, saw you with JCM fantastic show! Btw , i just happen to see the tribute to Mr. Les Paul, man you were amazing!
That tom set up always makes me scratch my head. I want to sneak an 8” tom in between the two and fill the space. Hell of a player though and that’s a beautiful kit.
I think its because he only mounts them to the cymbal stands and that limits the distance over the kick. But man its horrible spacing. Like use a stealth rack lolz
Bruce Hewat he actually didn’t want anymore toms in his set up. But back in the 80’s, big kits were all the rage and John Mellencamp told him he wanted him to have a bigger kit. So what do you do when your boss wants you to do something? You do it. So he added the extra rack tom and another floor tom and the set up has just stuck with him.
@@drumfanatik316 It's actually the opposite from what I've read. Mellencamp wanted a 60's bare bones retro look, one rack tom. After time had passed, Kenny "snuck" in the 10" and had it off to the side as you see... to hopefully get away w/ it. He did. He then got used to it, hence the unconventional set up. Got away w/ 2 floor toms because they kinda blocked each other visually.
Um, you do realize that maple isn't the wood that's "always been around" right? There was a time when poplar and mahogany were the go to woods for shell manufacturing and maple hadn't caught on yet.
Kenny is a solid drummer. Hard hitter, never over-plays, he just rocks.
This guy is 67. He looks he is 45 tops. Kenny is a mother friggin wizard
huge drummer and teacher

This guy is a monster, really seems to enjoy being a drummer.
Damn, thats slammin’!
I didn't grow up influenced by Kenny and am only recently seeing him play, but I love his style. Reminds of Abe Cunningham.
Kenny - the man.
I love his drumming but how does he crack rim shots with his snare tilted like that?

@@tim3308 that one is correct. Not the Bruce hewat story Kenny spoke about it in an interview recently.

Zildjian New Beat
15” probably!
I ordered a tama starclassic maple. Too many different woods and marketing. Stick with the reliable wood that's always been around
With other words, too many choices, so you got confused?
