This is the best demonstration of these drum sounds I’ve watched yet. These sound so good. Love that you played them slow individually then didn’t just beat the hell out of them as fast as you could like everyone else lol good job
I own this exact kit configuration in a different color. Unbelievable tone and feel. Professional kit under $1700 U.S. Tama is ALWAYS changing the game for the better.
Which groove did I like? How about THE WHOLE GODDAMN THING!!!! Markos, I've been on and off playing drums for a little over 40 years. It was nothing shy of a pleasure watching and listening to you beat those skins! The Creator gave you the seed and you definitely nurtured and cared for it and your playing is proof! Great job, Markos!
These drums sound killer. Great tuning. For any younger drummers watching at home, THIS is how your drums should sound :). Markos - nice chops, like your feel/groove. nice little thing at 3:42 with the snare/tom ... tasty.
as a player, and retailer of drums "For any younger drummers watching at home, THIS is how your drums should sound :)" I have to say that is one opinion. The are in tune, yes. .. but
Heck yeah man, great tasty job! I’ve been a Tama guy since I got drums and i’ll be getting some Tama Starclassic Walnut/Birch soon and love your demonstration of these Tama drums! Once again EXCELLENT technique, tastefulness and feel! And snare sounds so great and ringy with no tape or anything on the drum! Keep tearin’ it up and crackin’ that snare!
Hey Markos - good video firstly. It was good to hear with the reso heads swapped out for better than stock. I have one of these kits but did not swap out the bottom heads (yet). I think the biggest gain in doing so is in the floor tom and bass drum. Thanks for the video.
I have that high pitched ring on my floor Tom as well. Same kit. I think it’s the die cast hoop resonating. When I mount an LP claw on the hoop, it sounds better.
Sounds awesome! I’m curious if you spent any time considering getting a starclassic maple kit instead? Did you do any comparisons? If so, I’d be curious what you thought about how the two lines compare..
Greetings! The drums sound great. My nephew has a Tama SC B&B SD 14 / 5.5 TT12 / 8 FT 16 BD 24. On TT 12 is batter heads evans g2 clear and reso is G1 clear. I don't know how I would tune the drums to have a sustain like yours I really like the sound. If you can help me on what frequencies to tune the drum heads. Thanks in advance and greetings from Croatia!
Thank you for providing us with this! Did you have a chance to play a starclassic maple? Is there a significant difference in sound/build quality between these two series?
My pleasure. The last time I played a Starclassic maple was somewhere around 2008 I believe. I haven't tried the new SC maple one unfortunately, but I know that the hardware and build quality is the same as the W/B. The W/B kit reminds me of maple a little bit, it is warmer than an only birch kit, thanks to the walnut plies. It is somehow an all rounded drums which has the best of both worlds, the sharp attack of birch & warm tones of maple. I can compare to my 90s Pearl MMX maple kit, I would say it is just a bit warmer than the W/B. The new SC Performer series hardware have been downgraded for a more affordable kit I believe. I hope this was helpful.
@@MarkosVassiliou thank you so much for your answer! You're the man! Also, if someone is reading this and can offer some information, please do, thanks! 😎
Nope, did it by ear. Though I have realised that this kit is very hard to tune. I can tune my Yamaha Maple Custom Absolute in less than half the time I need to tune this one!
If you are close by, this might be interesting to you. I offer twice a year in person drum tuning workshops for small groups in Berlin: markosvassiliou.com/drums-tuning-workshop/ The next one is October 7th.
The only thing that's missing for me is the 22"x18" kick. I feel like it loses some dimension. Don't get me wrong the whole kit sounds amazing. I just wish there was a way to order the kit with a 22"x18". I'm stuck on whether to stick with Tama or move over to a different manufacturer. It is a lot of money to spend only to have to buy my ideal kick after the fact and be stuck trying to sell the 22"x16". That money would otherwise go on a snare.
Thats a Casio F-91W. It's the exact same model and is still in production and sells at around 15 bucks!! It's my third one btw, I always break or lose them. I appreciate your comment man!! Cheers
Nice, I wish Tama would make the color from reso to batter the same on all the drums when doing these fades. Not sure why they always make the bass drum different from the other drums on the kit. Just looks weird.
Great work! How much did changing the tom reso heads change their tone? My 1yr old Starclassic b/b set still has the cheap original heads on, thinking about changing for US made stuff. Cheers!
Thanks. The reso heads did make a change in the quality of the overall tone of the toms. The stock heads sounded out of control, were also much harder to tune, and resonated too much highs. They did't respond well. The new reso heads controlled the sound more, warmed up the toms up and just resonated as much as they have to in my opinion. I don't mean that the stock heads are bad, they are just OK. For a better sound, I suggest you change your reso heads to any 1 ply clear head. LMK if you change them, and if you feel there is a difference or not.

It’s not only a beautiful drum set. It sounds very good. I like the sound of the punchy Tom’s .
Thanks for the nice comment! Glad you like it

True that!! Which finish is your kit?
Vintage Marine Pearl
One year later and it's $2k. Gotta love inflation.
I love ur detail of sound check !
It's clear and 👍 thank u
Walnuts have lots of attack. Love the kick sound. I got the 3 piece with a 20x14 kick, the 20 in kick is amazing!
Very smooth and funky playing mate!
took a listen on better headsets and that floor tom is just on the spot

Killer sound man!!! Woow.. Bravooo
Kit sounds amazing!!!
Great sound check
Kit sounds beautiful, playing is clean and articulate which highlights the kit and it’s capability. Thank you.
Much appreciated! Thank you

Just perfect
Greeeeeeat snare drum
Very very nice sick chops
Beautiful kit and it sounds great!
Sounds soo good. Wanna get a starclassic wb one day in hyperdrive sizes. Wouldn’t trade my Tama starclassic bb hyperdrives for anything else.
Thanks! Yeah man Starclassic are superb drums!
Fucking dope player man… killer stuff

Thanks for the tip :) will give it a shot!
Drums sound great. I have the 3 shell pack of this kit. I also did a quick video for them. Your drums sound better. Good video.
Would be nice to explain how you tune drums!
Your drums sound sensational! To me it's the perfect sound. Do you mind telling me how you tuned them? Did you eq the toms? Great drumkit!
Basse drum 😎👍

Finish Sapphire fade satin?
I know it’s just tricky camera work, but doesn’t Tom 2 seem much larger that a 12”?

You're right. Now Tama offer us 2 inch less bass drum for more money. That's call business. My B/B is 22x18 and I'm so happy for that.
@@ivanbajovic3476 it does make all the difference. Its surprising how much 2" of shell can make the sound so much bigger.

Super!! Try 12" and 16" make better ;)

αυτό στο βίντεο είναι 22x16
Lots of attack but limited sustain. Reminds me of the sound that was very popular during the 1970's.
There's a lot of sustain if you listen with good speakers or in real life.
Brasilero ? Kkk tem acento
That high TOM needs a gel.
The toms need great batter heads. I run Evans EC2's on mine, but Evans G2s are the other best choice imo.
nothing special for the sound.
Because you probably like vintage sounding drums.
Audix are not good for test
