Hello there, I'm cosplaying as Marceline soon and I've been trying to figure out how to make a real axe bass. Since I already play bass, I thought that might add to my cosplay. I am in love with your bass. If you could please give me tips or a tutorial on how you created this, I would be so appreciative. Thank you c:
Try buying a used bass of fairly good quality(depends on how much you are willing to spend tho i advice not to spend too much) use a scroll saw and chop of both sides and build the axe blades with blocks of wood a belt sander can help alot but if you dont have one hand sanding works as well. Attach the pieces together and tada bass axe. All you gotta do after is paint it and give it a coat of clear varnish. 😁
you might have to do some shaping on the head of the cort bass neck, but both of those look like they will work. To make the body I used a thick piece of wood for making tables, and reinforced the back with a 1/4 in thickness board to get up to about 1 1/2 in thickness. Then I cut out the general shape and shaped the sides. You should probably use a router to cut out all of the holes for parts so that they stay an even depth. Good luck on making one!
the (only) thing I can see about this that isn't accurate is the blades of Marceline's Axe Bass are red as well, a darker red than the body, not exposed metal
You seem kind of amazing...You played Davy Jones' song thing, so you probably like The Pirates of the Caribbean, you like Muse, and you made a working Marceline axe bass.
I might be making another one over my winter break that I will put up for auction on ebay. Since they take a while to make I'm not taking any commissions for these, but if I make another for auction I will upload a new video for it and also post a link in this video. The starting price will probably be between around $400.
That looks amazing!! I want to mod my old Ibanez into Marceline's bass. It doesn't look like there will be much to change besides the body. I have no idea how I would go about making the body though. I'm not much of a woodworker.

Hey, we haven't made a lefty model yet, but our shop is fully capable of producing one for the same price as the right hand models if you're interested.
So when you say you put it together from pieces of old basses, did you just take wood or something and sand it down to plaster over the original bass or was that part like custom made somewhere? Whatever you did, it looks pretty rad dude. :)
Please teach me how to make one this is the greatest thing I have ever seen but It would take me a while to be able to afford that. Even just how you made the body would be really helpful I have an sg laying around I could modify. Honestly though, fantastic work you got the body down perfectly.

Oh my gosh this thing is beautiful! I'm actually going to take lessons for bass soon so making my own axe bass will be one of my adult life goals.

I used a bunch of different paints that i had, and finished it with sprayable laquer

Also, the tuning head is shaped like a toepincher coffin with an x on it
The animators from Adventure Time animated different versions of her bass. Sometimes it is dark red, other times it is metallic.
Personally I prefer the exposed metal look

I would recommend buying a pre-made neck, but it isnt too hard to make the rest as long as you have a router.
