I feel the EXACT same way about how the leaves pop up after a few heavy rains followed by sunny days. Finally Spring has sprung. I own a Hoffman Camp Axe when he was still making them by himself. For half a decade, I haven't used it because it's too beautiful, but this weekend, I will bust logs with it.
Reminds me of a song..... I see trees of green, red roses too I see them bloom for me and you And I think to myself What a wonderful world I see skies of blue and clouds of white The bright blessed days, the dark sacred nights And I think to myself What a wonderful world
I just came across your channel and love it. You have a new subscriber! Hopefully one of these days I'll order one of Liam's axes, and hopefully be able to check out his shop since it's in the same state I live in now.
Love the video. I've always wanted a LH Camp Axe - but I'm too impatient to wait 18 months. I'm sure it's worth every penny, and worth every minute of the wait. LH axes are not only works of art, but they're a modern day working piece of Americana. Not many US businesses can say this anymore. LH most certainly can. When I was looking for a new axe, I really wanted it for that upcoming summer. We're lucky in the US, in that we have a couple of really good axe makers. The one I ended up going with, was the Brant and Cochrane Dirigo Belt Axe with a custom 20" handle. Much like the LH, it's a modern day working piece of Americana, as much as it is a work of art. It's hand crafted in small batches, and It's the sharpest axe I've ever owned (note I've never owned an LH). I also like that BnC took a look back into the Maine forestry history, and chose to use the Maine Wedge axe head shape. I mean - it makes sense, since their axes are made in Maine. For me, the Dirigo belt axe, with the 1.75 lb head and the 20" handle, has this perfect balanc. It's also has the thinnest handle I've ever held, and it's absolutely perfect. The palm swell is huge, and really gives you a feeling of confidence that this axe won't be slipping out of your hand with any swing. And I love the wedge shape of the head - especially when limbing and splitting small rounds. I can't say the BnC axes are better than LH, nor could I say the LH is better than the BnC - I've never used an LH. They're both different, and they're both beautifully crafted. If you're an axe collector, both of these tools should be in your collection.
@@ThomasMartzak Okay, I thoughts that what you said in the "Best camp axe in the world" video. I have a 2.25 on a 19" handle and I've been curious about the 3# model and if would be too heavy for a camp axe. Thanks again!
@@907AKOFT if so i may have mixed up head weight...but i have two 2.25 lbs and old and a new...but plz plz try to get a 3lb it's a perfect power axe for camping
Very sweet axe! Just ordered a Liam Hoffman handle! 32 inch semi straight! Re-Hafting a 3-1/2 pound Michigan pattern head.

Makes me want to break out one of my Hoffmans and go camping. Currently have 3 in my room and 1 more on order.
Great video! Im curious if you prefer the 2.25 or 3# head for the 24" camp axe? Cheers!
I haven't swung the 3lb axe.... Just the 2.25

@@ThomasMartzak I think it would be a great weight for chopping also. My only concern is pack weight
Hoffman has the best looking axe hands down not the best performer but man she’s beautiful and feels good
Would you specify what is not performing well... I have a hard time finding anything that isn't absolutely perfect in this tool
How long is your handle on this axe
24 inches
