The bit about hearing the heat treating oven beeps in your head reminds me of when I get home after working in the nursing home I work at and I hear call lights going off.
A railroad spike and rebar is good for knocking the wood out after cutting and drilling it. That worked for me when I did it to an old one I found in my grandmas shed
12:57 Some time ago you explained why you did an agitated quench. Ever since then, every time I've seen a knife maker oil quench their steel and not agitate the work, I think to myself "why aren't you moving the steel more?!" This video is a great education mate. Many moons ago, before I had any clue about steel, I removed a handle by burning the head in a fire for hours. I never did put a new handle on it but I can only imagine how bad the steel would have been after that torture.
Indeed but he owns several, his recent most used ones were witherby AND Ben Orford now he I noticed he uses Jason's drawknife since their collab video, look it up on Jason's website he sells them
Liam, I enjoyed this video, I see this as being very kind to someone who has had an unfortunate thing happen to them. I view this as backing your product. Thank You for being who you are Liam.
30 seconds to rough out the handle! 30 seconds!!!!! It took me all afternoon to hang a frickin' hammer head!!!!!!! Ok, you've done like a million of the things, but still, at least add on a minute or 2 so we don't feel like mere mortals watching something unachievable lol 😋😊😊 I love your scream by the way 🤣 Please keep up the good work 👍👍👍👍👍
So now that your in an old Firehouse, why not make a run of fire axes in both hatchet size and full sized. I would love to have one and would actually use it.
Great job man I feel bad for the guy with the house fire, I think its nice that you would refurbish the axe for him. As always loved the vid and keep em coming. 🔨💪
Remember when you won forged in fire? Well I am just curious about something. After round one after you heat treated your knife, did the knifes then get tempered? And then on to round 2 or?
uhhhhh, missed that 2 week shirt sale by a year and a month. Liam, pardon my ignorance but I wonder why a guy would send that burned up axe to you to redo rather than just buy another. I suspect that there might be a qualitative difference from yours to Home Depot, but I'm completely new to any of this so I'm ignorant. Thanks for your videos and those dogs - love them. Learning an entirely new world by watching you. Thanks buddy.
Smels like if somebody kills someone with the axe via headchop and burn it to eliminate prints and send it to you after to completly delete all the adn and marcs .... :P
You should have just kept the axe and shipped him a new one. You could have displayed it like a StateFarm commercial ( We know a thing or two because we've seen a thing or two ) Just saying !!!

Indeed but he owns several, his recent most used ones were witherby AND Ben Orford now he I noticed he uses Jason's drawknife since their collab video, look it up on Jason's website he sells them
@@Hi_im_adel_ its good for business. we see whats he using then we go see where it came from and it helps the other.

Love the fact that you draw knife your handles.. I feel like if you went to CNC your axes would be losing part of their soul.

Bit concerning about hair on the axe, then conveniently burnt?

"Kilt em ded" - Liam Hoffman
Hey! Love your work. Own two splendid LH axes. Best I’ve ever used!!
Jacob might want a gimbal to keep the shots steady.
What works esay as well is to cut the extra and throw it into the forge wood will burn right out
The best little girl scream on UA-cam - cracks me up every time 😂😂
Drops axe head; smirks
Drops hammer; squeals like a girl

"It will keeeel"

why not use your hardness tester (on the right side of the furnace) to determine if it needs heat treating?
thanks
"Kilt him daid, right in this building." Gotta love the southern accent. (just bustin' your chops for fun).
Grats on 10 years!

did you really have to take 9 minutes of your video drifting out a wedge??
