You don’t have to stick to one style. You will have elements that will become a part of your art as you practice. I just make art. My art has evolved in the almost 60 years of my art practice. I don’t worry about style, genera, or medium. I just make art. I still learn something new you. I learned something new from your last video and this one. “Old habits” just became a part of art toolbox. Btw, this piece is amazing.
🦋🦋 Hello Ms B! I so much enjoy watching your styles meld into new approaches and new designs and new ideas. It's all so encouraging and inspiring. Each painting is a facet of the next! 🦋 A sketchbook art journal would be a fantastic chronicle of your transitions! Yes, do it! You'll love it.💕 🦋🦋
🦋 I understand how you feel, and also wanting to withstand the weekly pressure. That's one thing. Another thing is that when you look at your composition for a long time with many inner feelings, you quickly lose yourself and can become discouraged. I am always impressed by your imagination and the beauty of your expression. Perfectionism and comparisons are a small, annoying villain that lurks behind every splash of color and is best ignored. Your pictures delight me again and again, whether you are happy with them or not. This creation is also a bouquet in the end that reveals all your love. That's my impression 🦋
There’s not an artist, composer, or dancer whose style has not evolved over a lifetime. People evolve. Artists evolve. If I may say this, I find it difficult to listen to so many self-negative comments, when I and so many others find your work so enchanting. Celebrate where you are and where you will go!
I appreciate your insight and your lovely comment. I will say though, I don't find anything wrong with voicing a good dose of self criticism. Generally, I'm very happy with what I create, but if I never show the times I'm not so happy how something came out, viewers will get the wrong idea. I'm just trying to keep it real, because so often I read comments that think I never make a mistake or always love everything I do. That is far from the truth and so I will always try and keep things real. ❤️💕
Start an art journal. There you can safely explore your art styles. I love having more than one. I still don’t have my style nailed down either. But I have only been at it for a couple of years. I love this piece and the way it came together. Keep at it Bettina! You have a lot of talent and I like that you are here on UA-cam!
Believe it, I have several as well. I just keep forgetting about using them! But one is now on my desk, where I can see it, and I've actually already made much more use of it over the last couple of days than I have in the past year, so that's good news! I'm one of those people that has to have things out so I can see it, otherwise it doesn't exist. Drives my husband crazy sometimes, haha! Oh well 😆
🦋I bought some larger sized watercolor paper a few weeks ago but have been too busy at work to do anything creative. (September -Thanksgiving is my busy time.) I have about one week left of crazy, busy overtime, then I will have time for art again. Your videos always inspire me, Bettina. My husband told me I should do some artwork to hang on our walls, so that's my goal while I have some time off next week! Thank you! 💖
Exploration is the best part of art, right!?! I know it is for me. As long as you enjoy what you're doing I say do it. You inspired me to get the markers out. I pleasantly surprised myself with the results. I need to purchase some water colors. ❤ Keep it interesting. Take time for yourself. I love your work! 🦋
🦋 Thank you so much Bettina I really really enjoyed watching you create this very different piece, and I really really love ❤️ ❤❤❤❤ it. It’s very subtle and beautiful too. I think working in a sketch book, would be a great way to record all your different styles and techniques and then you could go over them to given you some inspiration too. I think it would be a great reference guide for you. Please stay safe and well too xxx Mags ❤❤❤
This beauticul!!! Just up my alley!!! Only I see faces in everything, I love your buterflies, but I would have done faces!!! But that's me!!! You do you, and it's very beautiful!!!!
This turned out beautiful! You never have to “settle” on a style. I am constantly changing up my art. It’s who I am and I’ve always been that way. Your art “style” is a part of you…like a fingerprint. It’s uniquely you and it will show in any artwork that you do. 🥰. You totally should start a sketchbook. I love working on mine. It’s very freeing and it’s fun to page through to see all of your experiments. It’s a great way to keep all of your ideas for future use.
I love this! I can see this technique as a super fun idea to use with kids. I have a great imagination and can "see" things others can't in random things like clouds, cracks in ceiling paint, and even in cold cereal. When you get to the end of a bowl of cereal, the pieces kind of join together in random places in the bowl and form shapes which, in turn, can look like objects. Lol My daughter and I loved going outside; looking up at the clouds or stars and pointing out different shapes we'd see when she was little. It's funny how often we'd see the same shape, too! My daughter also noticed designs and images in other things and would be inspired to draw or paint something based on what she saw. But, even for kids who don't think they can see images in a random design could still have fun tracing around the lines they see. I bet most of the time, even the least imaginative person (young or old) would begin seeing images in their outlines. The best part is each of these paintings would be unique to that person. I'm not a good artist at all and as a kid, I always copied peers who were better at drawing; putting colors together; etc. than I was. I wish I'd had something like this to try, so I wouldn't have had to copy others so much! Lol Anyway, I love how this turned out!
First of all, thank you for sharing! And also, I'm the same way. I constantly see things. Maybe that's why I feel a pull towards this type of art. I hope that will never change for us, and those of us who do the same ☺️
🦋My sister is not a sketch book person either. She prefers single sheets of watercolor paper. I am currently working in 2 sketchbooks; one for drawing and Zentangle, the other for watercolor. In the watercolor one, I have no set style or subject. I do enjoy flipping through the pages of both to see where I've been. You may enjoy painting in a sketchbook too. You may go back and forth. You made today's painting work. The doodles added depth and texture! Do whatever your soul and your mental health need. I was working through a Zentangle Inktober. The election happened. I painted a watercolor mosaic for healing. I hope to get back to tangling today.
What a lovely comment. Thank you! It would be nice to start a sketch book just so I should keep the paper stacks to a minimum 😆 it's a new habit that needs to form. I think I can do it. Sending calm vibes to you ❤️💕
This is super!!❤ Ill tell you a secret: when I see something new from you, im up and racing to my work table!! Keep it up, we are enchanted with you!!😊
🦋 Thanks for sharing your work and thoughts! Exploring new styles can be frustrating, I know. Lately, I’ve been finding it hard to start new art because I feel so inadequate. I know I’m overthinking it, making things harder than they need to be. Not sure if you can relate 🤷🏼♀️ but I know it’s time for me to chill and just let the process be(come) the process ❤
It is interesting that you struggled but you kept going in spite of that. Maybe it's the time of year? I know others are struggling now as well. Anyway, the finished painting is lovely. I love the butterflies!
Thank you. I think some of it might be the time of the year, you're right. I also had a busy week that occupied more brain space than usual. That and just generally winding down the year and thinking about what else I could have a go at? I'm not too worried about it. It happens and it will get better soon 😊I appreciate your lovely comment ❤️💕
💜🦋🦋🦋💜 Maybe make some art about the emotions you’re feeling with the change/journey, using any style you desire. I can relate with you and your art in a small way, for I don’t put up content and just a year into wc next Jan. So I don’t have a style, yet, to switch from, hahaha. Try and enjoy the journey, sweet friend. I love your channel! I’m pretty sure we all do! [[[virtual hugs]]]💜🎨🌻
Bettina I’ve been thinking about you all week. I’m working on a sort of abstract picture of fish water etc. it is being done in watercolour then acrylic then acrylic markers and pens . as I have been working on this I have many times said oh I don’t like this, what would Bettina do! I remembered that it’s just paint and easily changed and I’ve been persevering. God bless you in a big way for your talent and willingness to share with us. I’m now wondering, as you often say, Is this too busy ! It is for my seven year old grandson so I don’t think he will care. Have a wonderful day dear friend
Aww, Rosie! Your comment made my day. Sometimes I forget that people watch my videos and listen to my ramblings 😆 It's funny, because I don't see myself as someone that could provide and art advice and then I get a comment like yours and I feel truly humbled. I wish I could see your painting! It sounds wonderful and I'm sure your grandson will love it! Also, I so appreciate your Kofi contribution 🙏🏻 Thank you from the bottom of my heart! It will go towards more Daniel Smith Watercolors! Have a wonderful Sunday 💕❤️
I really liked the piece before the doodling. I also like monochrome so I also liked the pencil. Perhaps just less doodling for subtle contrast would have been more pleasing to you in the end. Sitting here writing this makes me think I would have liked the more pastel look with the wc, pencil and gold for embellishment. ❤

I can so relate to that. Lots of inadequate feelings and definitely overthinking things most times 😊 But we can do this! Yes we can. 💪🏻❤️💕

I understand what you’re saying, but I really like how you incorporated your doodles into this piece. Also love the idea of the sketchbook.🦋
