I train like crazy while max endurance toons go scavenging to 50, then come back to train everything else. S toons near the door for defense (power rooms). Never upgrade the door. I run 3 2 3 so my 2s in the middle tend to be the office, radio rooms, storage, between things like my crafting rooms, cola/power if I have too many. Once Im at about 150 of 200 fully trained and levelled, I'll start kicking out the low HP ones that fell thru the cracks regarding endurance levelling, and some that fell out of the training rotation and are simply way behind. Don't know why that happens, but it always does. Then I'll begin making babies, training E, equipping E+7, then wasteland for levelling to build my super soldiers to run the wasteland and do quests. I stumbled across this video from Google Play games, not sure if you get a kickback from that but either way, good to know theres still other people playing this. Just to add for floor spacing, I'd point out that adding a 3 wide storeroom behind vault entrance (with or without elevator) allows 6 dwellers to be permanently stationed there as backup guards, and the overseer's office can be put behind that room, allowing an elevator to cap off the first floor. That elevator can be continued down the back wall as mole rat barrier, with 2 wide storerooms all the way down for loot piles. What you're left with is room for one elevator shaft and two 3-wide rooms the rest of the way down. It makes for very efficient and organized floors as each room compliments the other. The only hiccup is the barbershop, as thats a 2-wide only but those can be built or destroyed as needed in the later game.

Better pieces that give like +5 or 7 to a single stat I keep atleast 6 of. And the reason for 3 is for quests that require a certain weapon or armor, and the reason for +5/7 is obviously to outfit entire rooms for weapon/armor crafting mostly. With junk, I like to keep 50 of all basic junk, 100 of all blue junk, and as much as I can get of the legendary junk. I usually have about 60 or so of legendary pieces. I think I have 175 max storage of stimpaks and ~150 radaway. And my favorite weapon is the vengeance Gatling laser. Most like the dragons maw, but it only shoots once. The gattling gun shoots many bullets, so when an enemy dies it’ll keep firing at the next enemy with the rest of the shots. So it doesn’t waste any damage. I like it waaaay better.

The one thing that helped me with breeding was a naming system. For my first generation or "legacy" characters from the wastelands have their first names along with an ID number. For example, Walt Dingleberry will be: Walt E1-G1-M1 E1 = Electricity level 1 G1 = First generation M1 = First Male in the room As for the children, I mix it up with the parents' ID Numbers: So, "Bart E3-G2M1[E1M1F1]" The break down: E3 = works in electricity level 3 G2M1 = Second Generation, first male of; [E1M1F1] = "Walt E1-G1-M1" and "Anne E1-G1-M1" I usually try to avoid inc*st as much as possible, so third genertion IDs can go both ways, 1. Parents are from different FAMILIES in the same room or 2. from different facilities. The first option is self explanatory, just look for different "[******]" Ids, but the second option is a little more complicated. They usually have three letter names: Roy E4-G3M1-E3M2W3F2 From this I can get that Roy works in electrical level 4, is a third generation and is the first male child of both "E3-G2M2" and "W2-G2F2" I also have security (vault door and roaming) Security IDs: 001-V1-G1-M1 (num. range is 001 to 019) Roaming: 020-R1-G1-F2 (Num range is 020 to 030) Athough, despite all of this, Ishould come up with a better naming system lol. Any tips?
Ive made a simpler ID system "EMA-1-0000/0000 WALT" E = Assigned room M = Gender A = Family designation 1 = Generation (These four create the unique ID) 0000/0000 = Parents' UID. So three generations down itll be something like: "EMA-3-EMA2/EFB2 JOHN" this will have about 27 possible families per assigne rooms, all starting with two wasteland, rare, or legendary characters. And as for breeding I make sure one line agoes down alphabetically starting with the male, So, a someone third generation would date a female C EMA-3 would breed with EFC-3. EMB-1 would breed with EGC-1, so on and so fourth.
@@rustyshackleford1465 Yeah I figured You can use EMAA1-0000/0000 Jenn E is assigned room M would be gender 1st A would be designated letter 2nd A would be the couple designation 1 would be generation 0000/0000 just mash the first four numbers of the UID to designate the parents Example: EMAA/EFAA
@@tptallen4498 I just did this: EMA-1-A1-0000/0000 all is the same, but I dropped the "Walt" or "Jenn" at the end, and "A1" is the couple designation which works in increments like so A0 -> A1 -> A2 etc when it reaches A9, the next will be B0. Yours works well enough but only support up to 26 couples at a time. Mine has a max of like 260 I believe.
@@wastelordslegends Did you have to constantly rearrange your vault to get to this point? Is it better to build an overseer’s officer and get caps from there?
@@JDaSonOfVoorhees Best ways to get caps. 5 Mr Handy's in the wilderness, sent out for a day or so in shifts of 2 and 3. You'll have a fresh shipment of 2-3k odd caps every day or so. Sending out very lucky dwellers can bring in I think around 4 times as many caps as an average dweller in luck. There is also a mining technique involving many small rooms on one level patrolled by a Mr Handy, where all rooms are serviced by again very lucky dwellers. Very lucky dwellers produce caps when a room is collected from. On a side note they also dramatically lower the incident chance during a rush, which when performed of course also produces caps. The more the luck the more the caps. Luck is actually quite important in the game, which is why many recommend training in luck as early as possible.
Oh man the nostalgia lol. Wish I thought of searching for guides like this back when I was playing haha. Also unrelated but anyone know what heppened to Fallout Shelter Online? I had an account there way back but checking it now it's gone for some reason
Nope you can delete that elevator at the very beginning and yes you’ll have to have two shafts or you’ll have a single space like that not being utilized

Any advice on the best stats you want your dwellers to have when you send them on quests/wasteland? I usually try to give them as much Agility as possible, and some Luck if I can. I started playing 6 days ago. I just started training 7 perfects(almost done with the 1st stat), so all the rest (59) are basic, between lv20 and 40. Long way to go :)
@@wastelordslegends Yeah I did watch it, but I was looking more for a recommendation for someone who still has dwellers with low stats, from someone with lots of experience. Like, if I were to focus on 1 stat, for now(through clothes), which one you think is the most important. From your video, I gathered that atk speed(Agi) and crits(Luk) are very important, but Perception for loot seems to also be important. Maybe it doesn't matter, once I get my first batch of perfect dwellers... It'll take a while though
Anyone ever had a mr. Handy just… disappear?? I don’t think it’s ever happened to me before. I have a mr. Handy on every single level of my vault. I made sure of it, multiple times. Checking each and every floor to make sure I had one. And I was missing 2 so I purchased them. But then today… one is missing. I checked to make sure it wasn’t destroyed, and it’s not. Just completely gone. And conveniently I have a special quest show up that rewards me with one… I’m calling shenanigans! It’s a conspiracy 😂 I’m glad I can quickly replace it, but something is fishy about this… also, about half of the robots I have suddenly stopped collecting stuff! I had to go through and turn about half of them back to “on” for collecting. Really weird. Luckily the floor the mr. Handy was missing from was literally just storage rooms lmao. But I like having 1 on each floor, especially those floors, so there’s always something to handle incidents, so it doesn’t just immediately spread to 3 rooms.
No not me but I feel like something happened to three dog as I only have his clothes now but I don't remember him dying, I feel like I would remember that as he is in my top 10 favorite fallout characters.
@@wastelordslegends yeah that’s odd. But you’re right, usually if they die and you don’t/can’t revive them, their pet will bring their items back to the vault. But you’d also probably remember letting the animal back in, without its owner. Unless you crafted an extra suit of his, and he’s hiding somewhere around the vault? I’ve had instances where I forgot I sent a dweller to a quest that required specific items. So maybe he’s on a quest that requires a vault suit or something?
@@Scholupine I cant guarantee it but im using the glitch and my save is fine. If you dont do it in a specific way, your vault is fucked until you find the right fix.
If your save is fucked you have to get the time on your device back to the current time. This fixed every problem for me and seems to work on all devices. Step 1: Open your messed up save Step 2: dont close the game, it needs to run in the background Step 3: Set back your time to whatever time you skipped. I recommend you do 1 year or more depending on how much you skipped ahead you just have to go back as much or more than you have gone forward do all that manually dont alter time zones, make sure to disable auto time on your device Step 4: open your Vault: there should be no wait time and nothing should change in your vault just open for 15 sec. If sth is off just continue as it will prob sort it self out later. Step 5: Go back to your time settings and set your auto time on again (that the time gets set automatically) (todays date and time would get selected by this setting Step 6: Go back into your game Everything freezes, wait atleast 15-20 minutes and then your vault should refresh. If nothing works restart your device try to shut down all things that cost ram vram etc and do this method again. You can confirm that it worked via sending a dweller in the wasteland and skipping time using this method. He shoulf earn junk now. If it still isnt fixed try atleast 1 more time. This has worked for me and i overuse the timeglitch way to much knowing this method. Since doing it this way i did not have any issues. This way you will have advanced you vault to present time and everythinh should work again If your rooms are still bugged rush them. You can skipp time safely when doing so using this method. Im using the nintendo switch but ios and android are confirmed to work too.
Hello, I've got a question: I capped the dwellers and I'm willing to rearrange the rooms layout, but I don't know how to move living rooms, because it's not possible to create more or delete them. The only thing I could figure is by expelling dwellers and I don't want to do that. It's there another way? Thanks for the video!
I play this on Xbox One. And there are some things that I'm seeing here that I don't get on my game, Is there some type of update I have to get or pay for?
Just to let anyone know in 2024 if you're playing this game. In the beginning he mentions not being able to take out that last elevator. But that is completely false. You can definitely delete everything and only have the vault door. But you have to be willing to bring yourself to nothing and start there. Make 1 elevator at the end? Idk whatever you want
Not related to the video but how do I get all 20 legendary dwellers? Since I'm in a intermediate vault, they matters a lot and also I like to collect :)
The best way to get them (unfortunately) is to wait for a lunchbox sale and buy them in bulk. You'll end up with a lot of junk but the recent sale, I bought 40 and won big with 5 legendaries. Aside from that, it's purely random. There might be a few unlocked in quests, but I can't assure you which ones.
How would you be able to make everything so symmetrical before you get to the bottom? I just place down different buildings as I go and it’s all jumbled up
Save up caps and you can easily destroy old rooms that are in the way and rearrange them as needed. The only one that can be tricky (once your vault gets big) are the bunkrooms (where the beds are) since you can't delete them if your population is high; each room holds 40 dwellers. So 5 maxed out bedrooms are all you can build, since your population cap is 200. So if you have 189 dwellers, but wanna move a 3 wide bedroom, you need to evict 29 dwellers, to bring your population down to 160, so you can delete a bedroom. Ask me how I know. The only other option is to guess your build in advance and place the elevators first, going way down and randomly putting the production rooms where you think you want them grouped. It's risky and costly, as you'll likely be tearing them down to rebuild upgraded ones later on, but that's a 'tomorrow' problem.
Completely depends on how much you have built, I could be dead wrong, but I think it took me like 450k total after upgrading and everything. That's my guess, though I could be way off.

I absolutely hate this layout. Here is why: Things to consider when building a vault - 1. Efficient use of space. 2. Defense against raids. 3. Efficient caps generation. To maximize the three things, and not risk caps being raided, or resource production being halted: I always put the classes at the top of the stack, and my best armored and armed adventurers In those rooms to be leveled and to keep them on hand for quick response to issues. I like to keep my rooms divided into 2 section until late game, to maximize the amount of rushes I get per layer on the stack, thus Improving total caps generation, and creating buffering where vault fire or infestation has to spread past a small room, and lessens the production of resources. My first 3 layers are entirely defensive and dedicated to raising adventure party stats, and arranged In a backwards C shape, this forces raids to travel through multiple high level fighting characters and win, before they ever reach the breeding farm or resource production. And of course the vault storage is kept in the center after layer 5 in a 323 alternating layer stack of (elevator, resource, storage, resource, elevator sometimes alternating a stim or radaway facility in the center) This maximizes efficiency of production, defense, though it does have the drawback of delayed travel to the center sections from adjacent layers compared to a central elevator layout. However with my defensive layout, I have never had raiders make it past floor 2.
Nice, however mine works perfectly for me, Deathclaws don't make it past the first floor and cap production is so minimal compared to finding them in the wasteland that it is irrelevant to me. Furthermore having Training rooms on the top floor is a terrible idea as they are training for a reason and are the weakest line of defense another reason is because they will gain xp which is very bad if they aren't maxed out in endurance ruining chances of a Super Dweller. Other than that you make some good points!
I use a 323 layout. All production, crafting, and training rooms are three wide on the outside. All my two wide rooms are down the middle, along with all my living quarters, radio room, and storage, which are also two wide.

I usually try to avoid inc*st as much as possible, so third genertion IDs can go both ways,
1. Parents are from different FAMILIES in the same room or 2. from different facilities.
The first option is self explanatory, just look for different "[******]" Ids, but the second option is a little more complicated. They usually have three letter names:
Roy E4-G3M1-E3M2W3F2
From this I can get that Roy works in electrical level 4, is a third generation and is the first male child of both "E3-G2M2" and "W2-G2F2"
I also have security (vault door and roaming)
Security IDs: 001-V1-G1-M1 (num. range is 001 to 019)
Roaming: 020-R1-G1-F2 (Num range is 020 to 030)
Athough, despite all of this, Ishould come up with a better naming system lol. Any tips?
Ive made a simpler ID system
"EMA-1-0000/0000 WALT"
E = Assigned room
M = Gender
A = Family designation
1 = Generation
(These four create the unique ID)
0000/0000 = Parents' UID.
So three generations down itll be something like:
"EMA-3-EMA2/EFB2 JOHN"
this will have about 27 possible families per assigne rooms, all starting with two wasteland, rare, or legendary characters.
And as for breeding I make sure one line agoes down alphabetically starting with the male,
So, a someone third generation would date a female C
EMA-3 would breed with EFC-3.
EMB-1 would breed with EGC-1, so on and so fourth.
Dude thats pretty useful and awesome!
@@tptallen4498 Needs more to keep track of couples tbh
@@rustyshackleford1465
Yeah I figured
You can use
EMAA1-0000/0000 Jenn
E is assigned room
M would be gender
1st A would be designated letter
2nd A would be the couple designation
1 would be generation
0000/0000 just mash the first four numbers of the UID to designate the parents
Example: EMAA/EFAA
@@tptallen4498 I just did this:
EMA-1-A1-0000/0000
all is the same, but I dropped the "Walt" or "Jenn" at the end, and "A1" is the couple designation which works in increments like so
A0 -> A1 -> A2 etc
when it reaches A9, the next will be B0.
Yours works well enough but only support up to 26 couples at a time.
Mine has a max of like 260 I believe.
would you mind making a step by step tutorial explaining how you got this far? thanks!
Just hard work and leveling up buildings, had to move many buildings as well
@@wastelordslegends Did you have to constantly rearrange your vault to get to this point?
All facilities you need to fill personal s are only 4 nuclear electric factories, only 1 nuckcola, and 2 2-room clinics respectively.
Nope you can delete that elevator at the very beginning and yes you’ll have to have two shafts or you’ll have a single space like that not being utilized
How??
@@Bobbybats4295 The very first thing, starting from the bottom and ending with the top. Click on each of the three elevators and click demolish on them in turn.
This is all well and good but how do I move rooms around? I know you can demolish them but that wastes so many caps i can afford
That's unfortunately the only way to move them.
I love your videos
I appreciate it! I have another Fallout Shelter video uploading right now!
Here's what mine looks like all production but rad away will be on the left the rad away idk why I set it like that it's not like you can't move your rooms after made
I had to expand all productions but I got 30 residents
I decided to start playing the game again after so many years and FML when i loaded upbmy cloud save.... i was one unorganized child 😅
Same here 🤣🤣
Any advice on the best stats you want your dwellers to have when you send them on quests/wasteland? I usually try to give them as much Agility as possible, and some Luck if I can.
I started playing 6 days ago. I just started training 7 perfects(almost done with the 1st stat), so all the rest (59) are basic, between lv20 and 40. Long way to go :)
I'd recommend watching my video "what special does in Fallout shelter" I go over lots of special related things including quests!
Definitely Endurance first. Endurance is probably #1 Stat in the game. Then I'd go for Agility or luck, then perception.
@@wastelordslegends Thank you!
No problem, good luck to your vault!
I'm gonna double check but I always keep him in the broadcast center on every playthrough including this one.
Can't see Garden & Nuclear Reactor
Ye is that a new build?
Downloaded it a week ago lol
I have max living quarters and can't destroy them so how do I move them. They're very unorganized
Unfortunately you'll have to evict enough dwellers until you can
I believed I removed around 60.
@@wastelordslegends alright thank you
@wastelordslegends did you level up your dwellers SPECIAL stats with time cheating, or would it be morally wrong?
Up to you! I don't mess with time anymore as it can mess up your saves very easily. I found out the hard way.
@@wastelordslegendswould I be able to reverse the damage when the save gets messed up?
@@Scholupine I cant guarantee it but im using the glitch and my save is fine.
If you dont do it in a specific way, your vault is fucked until you find the right fix.
If your save is fucked you have to get the time on your device back to the current time. This fixed every problem for me and seems to work on all devices.
Step 1: Open your messed up save
Step 2: dont close the game, it needs to run in the background
Step 3: Set back your time to whatever time you skipped. I recommend you do 1 year or more depending on how much you skipped ahead you just have to go back as much or more than you have gone forward
do all that manually dont alter time zones, make sure to disable auto time on your device
Step 4: open your Vault: there should be no wait time and nothing should change in your vault just open for 15 sec. If sth is off just continue as it will prob sort it self out later.
Step 5: Go back to your time settings and set your auto time on again (that the time gets set automatically) (todays date and time would get selected by this setting
Step 6: Go back into your game
Everything freezes, wait atleast 15-20 minutes and then your vault should refresh.
This way you will have advanced you vault to present time and everythinh should work again
If your rooms are still bugged rush them.
You can skipp time safely when doing so using this method. Im using the nintendo switch but ios and android are confirmed to work too.
@@wastelordslegendsI think you can fix everything, might be the dunning kruger effect though
Right now im trying to see how i could remodel my vault with dwellers already inside, ive seen nothing so far 😭
More like this!
Thanks for the video!
Thanks for watching!
There is no other way, I learned the hard way, too.
@@wastelordslegends Alright, thanks a lot!
I play this on Xbox One. And there are some things that I'm seeing here that I don't get on my game, Is there some type of update I have to get or pay for?
Yes, unfortunately the free update was only on mobile devices.
dormitories can also be built with just 2 blocks right???...
What's the point of a 3 block dormitory??...
Idk whatever you want
i reach 102 dwellers i need to destroy and rebuild a lot all over again
Not related to the video but how do I get all 20 legendary dwellers?
Since I'm in a intermediate vault, they matters a lot and also I like to collect :)
There's not really a way other than luck, it just takes lots of time, I haven't gotten all 20 dwellers yet unfortunately.
What about elevator row at the bottom?
How would you be able to make everything so symmetrical before you get to the bottom? I just place down different buildings as I go and it’s all jumbled up
Look at my older Shelter videos they were like that, I just reorganized em
Can you change the vault layout later? I’ve already got like 80 dwellers and I want to change the layout
does the intruder only go out in the dorms??...
If I put dwellers to a storage room; does it affects the max storage capacity ?
No, they just gaurd it in an emergency.
@@wastelordslegends Thanks. I subscribed to ya
Thank you!
Uhhhhhhhhy how much cash do I need to COMPLETELY remodel a valut of 140-160
Completely depends on how much you have built, I could be dead wrong, but I think it took me like 450k total after upgrading and everything. That's my guess, though I could be way off.
@@wastelordslegends thank you
Yep just signed into my 101 survival vault .. population 6 .. dead dwellers 16 ... 2 minutes later .. 5 more dead dwellers with a fire .. I have 1 single pregnant female left the last fire killed everyone.. 21 dwellers 1 survivor.. I can't reach 14 dwellers and I have not been able to can't heal and every time a fire hits it kills everyone in the vault 😅 they were safer out side .. I brought them in an bam wiped out in 1.30 seconds just the pregnant lady left I had one their running around from fires left now 😅 their were not enough females and the events killed them off before I sent any of them to the waste land for safety and then i had to keep them in their and they still take damage even my pregnant women died 😅 . My vault is doomed population 1 pregnant women... I used 2 stim packs for 22 dwellers out of lunch boxes everyone died on moments each time I sign in ...
I have 5800 waste land exp time all missions compete 260 hours play time and I can't get 14 dwellers to survive on survival with a legendary weapons. With out stim packs ... 😅 And with out population I can't make stim packs ...
I have 2 years of progress on my iPad and I just got a new iPad I’m mentally not prepared to start again

How to move room ?
Yo i was doing quests and one of my quests final missions isnt showing up? It kinda sucks cuz i need the loot but it wont show up

I absolutely hate this layout.
Here is why:
Things to consider when building a vault -
And of course the vault storage is kept in the center after layer 5 in a 323 alternating layer stack of (elevator, resource, storage, resource, elevator sometimes alternating a stim or radaway facility in the center)
This maximizes efficiency of production, defense, though it does have the drawback of delayed travel to the center sections from adjacent layers compared to a central elevator layout.
This is the ugliest vault ever
Thank you!!
