Mike, my wife has a 2014 XV Crosstrek. I have done full LED with the exception of high beams. On the Crosstrek, the high beams act as DRL, there is a resistor inline with the ground leg dropping the voltage to much to keep the LED drivers from going crazy. I have located the resistor and am considering bypassing it, the only real issue is bright high DRLs. I used Canbus led turn signals and replaced the side marker and light around the headlight with LED. great look. I occasionally had hyper flash when the turn signals were on a long time. I resolved this with an LED flasher from Diode Dynamics, they had one that had options so you could change how it flashed on lane change and make your Hazards strobe. Good work, hope you keep this when the Tundra comes in.
Good to know. The 4Runner has a bulb that duals for high beams and DRLs as well and makes it hard to swap out. Not sure if I can justify keeping the WRX when the Tundra arrives but I sure want to after having plenty of fun with it the last several weeks!
I've been looking into doing this with my Forester. It seems to be well worth it.
Thanks bro I’m changing my low beams
Will you have any issues with burning the plastic inside of a headlight?
It’s frustrating how difficult bulb access is on many cars. The worst I’ve come across was a MK4 VW Jetta I used to have years ago. The owners manual just says to go to a dealership. Took me a long time and a mangled hand to replace bulbs in that car.
It really seams like bulb replacements should be an easy process... that and oil changes yet sometimes so hard to do!
It's cake on the WRX if you spend a minute or two and pull the airbox and battery. The front half of the airbox is just clips.
My 2017 limited low beam bulb is not accessible this way. It's behind a covering with what seems to be no access....
Did you figure it out? Can't figure out how to get to mine
@@JoseMartinez-gy9eo Heck No!
@@meatpopsicle4801 yeah they're sealed headlights on the limited, I had to buy new ones
Doesn't the Limited already come with LED headlights?
These are awesome! Too bad they aren't street legal.
These bulbs are street legal in every country since about 12 years ago.
@Ammo720 I just clicked on the link and the site says otherwise.
Man are these even legal? this stuff worries me..
Depends on your state, for example in Ca. It is illegal but nobody cares tbh
Don't change parts on your car if you're not sure about legality, or if you're worried about it, really. It's a bad idea to run super bright bulbs in reflector-style headlights, which at least on the Base WRX is only the high beam - The projector low beams work well with upgraded lights. It was the first thing I did on my car, I hated how dim and yellow the factory low beams looked. Night driving was straight up dangerous.
Yes they are legal, in fact, most cars come with them.
Do you know how easy it is to open the airbox and give yourself some room to work. There's 2 plastic clips holding the ducting in I can't believe you squeezed your arms in there for so long. Clean your air filter while you are at it and have it open...
It's also super quick to just pull the whole airbox out. Same with the battery.
