You mentioned researching some of the shots. Are you able to share some of the links for your sources please. I am trying to collect as much background info on this film as possible possible.
American Cinematographer Magazine is where I got most of the info. They have an online archive of past issues, but you might have to pay for it? Im not sure.
I haven’t watched yet, but I can answer subjectively for me: When Bats jumps off the building in the wingsuit and we get that brief weird Red Bull-style base-dive shot. Very out of place. Other than that, pretty much flawless!
Eh, every shot was underexposed into oblivion though. I loved the direction they were going, but even in a theater it was hard to see anything. A perfect example of correction would be Gordon Willis’ work on the Godfather part two. There’s so much darkness in the shot but he exposed the image well enough so you could make out the characters within those dark spaces. Vittorio Storaro’s work on Apocalypse Now is also a great example of shrouding characters in darkness but still exposing them well enough to see.

my favorite portrayal of gotham city so far in any live-action movie - the production design and of course the director of photography had a lot to do with it
i mean its pointless to judge by single frames u can't have every single frame amazing and perfect its not even about the movie its not how reality works
@@As_Ss are you criticizing me for making a joke or him for looking for a bad frame, if it's the later than I'd say that it was obviously satire because it looks so good that it's so hard to find a bad frame.
@@As_Ss The joke is that he looked thoughout the movie for 7 minutes and only found one frame that he deemed "bad" so then made a joke that the whole movie is bad, so I was comparing it to Snyder cultists that look past amazing content and focus on tiny details that they then blow out of proportion to try and claim that the whole movie is bad.
@@As_Ss the point of the video is to point out that "The Batman" is so well made that it has barely any ugly frames in it, I'm shure you could look though it and find many more frames that are ugly, but the point is that most of the movie is so well made and well shot that there are MANY more pretty frames than ugly ones.
@@cinephilestuff the ugly frame isn’t the point of this video. Its just a hook so that I can talk about the cinematography in general. Sorry you didn’t like it, good luck with everything.
Hard disagree. Whole film looks awful. It's solely because of their over reliance with older smearier lenses. Looks like ass. The framing and staging is serviceable but looking at ths movie gave me a migraine. Look they picked a style and I'm all for it but I like things in focus.
Exactly, most of the shots looked okay but i didn't like the movie overall. I liked the Christopher Nolan movies a lot better. Also the cinematography.
@@Giovanni-Giorgio Agree. He only solved the mystery because they found an audio recording of the murder on a voice mail message. And another time a cop was there to give him a clue. Such a poor script.
@@OliverWayneTimpsonthe Batman action scenes were so ass dude, he couldn’t even really fight up to punisher standards let alone Batman. I’ve scene people in real life that would give him work
I noticed this about the movie as well and I realized it sort of hurts it. When every shot of a movie is a stand out shot with perfect framing and light, none of them are. It all sort of becomes exhausting. Films with less stand out shots benefit more form them because they really pop when they appear.
THE BATMAN is the ones the most aesthetically stunning shot movies ever.
What about joker??
00:47 You dont want BATMAN over exposure,
The Flash : Hold my beer!
🤣🤣
This movie is a work of art.
This is my favorite movie and I don’t think it’s hard to see why
Best movie I've ever seen! It took me one month to totally get out of that kind of dark emotion.
This is such an awesome video, and I cant believe it doesnt even have 1k views! this seems like it should have at least 100k or if not a million.
🙏🙏🙏 tell that to the algorithm
goddamn the video quality is amazing.

It is easily the most gorgeously shot, visually stunning comic book movie ever made. Greg Fraiser and Matt Reeves are geniuses

Yeah, it’s just a fun excuse to analyze the cinematography of the film as a whole.

wow, to attack ppl cuz a random frame, that is low, who's the hater here...

Yes when he takes off the mask
I still get nightmares
Keep it on man

judging good and bad frames in fight scenes where nothing is clear is crazy

Movie with such cinematography deserve a LOT better story.
The story is great, the only flaw is how Catwoman just randomly falls in love with Batman but that’s not very major
Short answer, the hole movie is ugly, it looks like a Uwe Boll movie.
