Narcs are or more volatile , Avoidants come off calm. One throws you in boiling water while the other starts cool to lukewarm then slowly turns up the heat until you boil.
It’s such a trip… I dated this guy for about a year who was also dating another gal. We didn’t know it but eventually she figured it out & found me. We’re friends now & we’ve been telling each other our stories. What we’ve found is that she got the narc & I got the avoidant. Even though the timelines & activities were very very similar, sometimes almost identical, the person presented to us & his behaviors with & towards us were significantly different.
