I made a wild dew berry pie today using fresh milled soft white wheat but I used my Betty Crocker recipe which uses shortening and I’ve used this recipe for years and I knew the flour would be more thirsty. This was my first time making a pie crust with this flour, the bottom crust was very soggy and crumbly the top crust was just barely okay. I was very disappointed to say the least. So I’ve looked on UA-cam and you were the first to pop up. I will try your way using butter instead of shortening I hope it works for me. Thanks for sharing.
Well, I hope that pie at least tasted good! Do you think the berry mixture was too wet? Did you cook it first and add a thickening agent? Probably. Let me know how this crust works for you! ANd thank yo so much for watching and commenting. I really appreciate it!
I use frozen berries I’ve made this pie more times than I can count every time it’s been great. The berries were fine it’s the pie crust that wasn’t so great. But I’ll try it with butter next time.
Yes! This was one of the first videos I ever made,. Better camera and microphone now. I am ironically, going to make a tomato gallette tomorrow and apple pie is coming up!

I completely botched that video. This was one of my first videos I ever made and I really didn't know what I was doing. I do make a tomato galette every summer, so i will do that soon!
Wow third video of yours I've commented on 😊I have made many Galettes in the past, but used bagged flour for the crust. I will explore this using FMF. I have been making Quiches as of late and think this crust would be wonderful for a Quiche. Your thoughts?

I'm a life long pie maker, with Moms methods (I'm 78 years young) make a pretty good crust,...if I do say so. However, I'm brand new to milling at home and don't want to stop my pies , even for a little while. So! please test your mic & I'll be back, needing your expertice!

I have struggled with pie crust since I gave up white flour and shortening. I’m experimenting with lard and butter with soft white wheat.

I totally agree! It was one of my first videos and I really didn't know how to make a proper video. 😞 I will be doing one again some day soon.
