The original Verve version of this is a British classic, and somehow Ren has taken it and made it even better. The guitar player from the Verve even sent him his guitar after he saw it.
The little video Ren did of the unwrapping was cool as well. It was an epic gesture by Simon that Ren was just blown away by. Ren was saying he got a little emotional over it. I did as well, was a big fan if The Verve back in the day.

Another wonderful reaction. It's amazing how Ren can write his own lyrics and film his own video to the music score of an original, in this case, the 1997 Verve song "Bitter Sweet Symphony. Ren calls it a "retake" when he uses the base melody of another artist's song and raps over the track. I like the original, too, but I love Ren's version; it is more hopeful and upbeat than the original. Ren set up the storyline "actors" for the video. For those who are not familiar with British English, in Great Britain, a cubicle usually refers to a bathroom stall, so "junkie in a cubicle" refers to a junkie found in a bathroom, and "out on the lash" is slang for going out for some heavy drinking. Stepping “in and out of gaps of the pavement cracks" is probably a play on superstitious behavior; in the US, some people think it is bad luck to step on sidewalk cracks. In other parts of the world, it is believed that it will release evil spirits from the underworld. Birds of a feather is an English metaphor meaning those with similar interests or of the same kind tend to form groups. Someone else commented that Ren said he crossed the road to catch the sunlight to match up with the lyrics "glow" and then stopped at the coffin-shaped storm drain for "crying at a funeral" to represent the gravestone. Ren's attention to detail is remarkable. The bassist from the Verve reached out to Ren after listening to the song and gifted him one of his own guitars. Ren posted a video of the unboxing on his channel; he was super excited and grateful. He looked like a little boy on Christmas morning opening the gift he had wished for. By the way, 10 GBP equates to about $12 right now. Good thing Ren had to quit smoking because of his health on the advice of his Canadian doctor.

i can't remember the last time I heard a song that had something positive to say about living in Britain, but when has Ren followed the herd? Just as impressive as working in the word "juxtaposition" is Ren's use of the seemingly insignificant phrase "as above so below". Apparently this a reference to an ancient piece of writing called the Emerald Tablet which describes the idea that we (below) are made in the image of God (above). Britain is beautiful please visit...
hopefully most peeps dont think us brits drink afternoon tea and eat cucumber sandwiches cos real life aint like that cos we have same struggles as our global brothers and sisters
No, I don’t think all Brits do. However, I wish you did. I would love to see more people happy and comfortable.
@@redheadedneighbor as brits and i am sure as of the rest of the world we roll with the punches and keep going regardless but for brits we have the "stiff upper lip" mentality and that means not let anything rock you lol even tho life hurts sometimes! break your leg=keep walking hahaha
@@mrj9585 as a southerner in America, we are the same. Take the hits and keep moving forward. There is honor and pride in being independent and suffering is just a part of life. Lol
@@redheadedneighbor as long as you keep movin forward good lady you on right path.. when u stop going foreward that is the issue...keep movin Foreward
Loving the hairdo today!! Looking great! ❤❤
Oh my goodness, thank you!
Just realised I have an ear to ear smile from your appreciation of this.
Btw / American friends - cubicle isn’t an office work pod here, it’s a public toilet where you can bolt the door - junkies use them, unless the store has put in UV lights - back to the rest of this smile fest - thanks red haired yank - from?
I’ve a brilliant n SLC, but his kids are Deighton MA, has a house there too. / you asked to know us. 😂❤
Thank you for telling me about the cubicle! That’s a very big difference, however in some cases I think junkies are in both types of cubicles!
I’m from Arkansas. I appreciate your kindness in sharing!
Love this one too
It makes me proud
Hi Red, me again, but this time it's not a Ren song (Uninvited) to get you red faced as well as red-headed, lol. This time I'd love to introduce you to an Aussie singer-songwriter called Tash Sultana. She is a multi-instrumentalist and extremely musically talented who writes all her own stuff; kinda like Ren tbh. The song I'd love you to react to is called "Jungle (Live Bedroom Recording)". She uses multiple electronic devices, a drum station and guitar plus multiple loop pedals; she also has a great voice. About 3/4 way through the song she gets totally lost in the music and her moves are something to be admired. PRETTY PLEASE, she truly is💥💥💥💥💥.

I can see that happening.
@@redheadedneighbor Thank you so very much. It's really heart warming when someone, like yourself, actually listens to their subscribers and also takes the time to reply. You have made this 70 year old Scotsman very happy indeed. I will be looking out for your reaction to Tash, just as I look out for all your reactions.
Watch either "What You Want" or "Right Here Right Now" Both a bit like this one, telling a story.
Taking a screen shot
Thank you
"junkie in a cubicle with a old spoon thats useable" now that in the uk is a heavy bar as we have a massive Heroin problem and lots of users need a spoon and a needle ...dunno what ya call users like that in the USA but UK we call them SmackHeads or SmackRats.
We have lots of names. Similar to that. In this area everyone is called a crack head even if it’s heroin. Or Junkies. Lots of other names. It’s a big problem.
@@redheadedneighbor it sucks cos these people are weak and have had a hard life and it pains me but over here in the uk untill you realise its an issue nothin gonna change sadly ,,,,never judge a book by its cover..yes they have a Habit but they are Human after all
@@redheadedneighbor i know of top legalpeeps that smoke so much crack before you go to court its insane but thats cool huh?
@@mrj9585 I agree. It’s so sad. So many people are trapped before they know it.
@@redheadedneighbor for me it is sad we can send people into space and have super tech but we cannot look after our own kind regardless of race or religion that for me is very sad!...we are 1 race and that is the HUMAN race not black or white!
Hey red. The best feelings take a long time coming.
Yes💕
i can't remember the last time I heard a song that had something positive to say about living in Britain, but when has Ren followed the herd? Just as impressive as working in the word "juxtaposition" is Ren's use of the seemingly insignificant phrase "as above so below". Apparently this a reference to an ancient piece of writing called the Emerald Tablet which describes the idea that we (below) are made in the image of God (above). Ren's not joking when he says he's an over-thinker!
Yeah, I believe that!
Hi yall ..i wish we could have pedigrees..im ginger british ..and a twat ..love u ❤
