I love your interpretation of this song. The symbolism of him bumping into people. We all have people (mostly family) that want to tell us “What WE should do), which totally discounts what we are doing. They marginalize us, invalidate us, make us feel like we’re losers. We are not losers.
Omg!!!! 😃😃😃😃😃😃😃Nostalgia at its finest! This song was in the movie "Cruel Intentions" from 1999. If you haven't seen it, definitely put that on your list! Used to watch that all the time! I can't hear this song without thinking of Cruel Intentions! 🥰🥰🥰 The 90s has the best movies! ❤️ This has actually been on my request list for a while.
You nailed the meaning of the song and video, Sceez. The Verve are a British band who had some massive hits in the 90s. The lead singer's name is Richard Ashcroft and he's also had a solo career outside of the band. Some of The Verve's hits, include: Bittersweet Symphony Lucky Man Sonnet The Drugs Don’t Work History This Time Gravity Grave Space and Time
One of my favourite singers of all time! I’ve seen Ashcroft live over 10 times and he’s a great artist. I’m seeing him again this summer…as for the court case over this song he finally won it For the last 22 years, The Verve haven't made a penny from Bitter Sweet Symphony, after forfeiting the royalties to The Rolling Stones. The song was embroiled in a legal battle shortly after its release, as it samples an orchestral version of The Stones' song The Last Time. As a result, writer Richard Ashcroft had to sign over his rights to Mick Jagger and Keith Richards - until now. Speaking as he received a lifetime achievement prize at the Ivor Novello Awards, Ashcroft announced: "As of last month, Mick Jagger and Keith Richards signed over all their publishing for Bitter Sweet Symphony, which was a truly kind and magnanimous thing for them to do." As a result, all future royalties for the song will now go to Ashcroft. The singer acknowledged that it was the Rolling Stones' late manager, Allen Klein, who had been responsible for the situation, rather than the musicians themselves. "I never had a personal beef with the Stones," he told the BBC. "They've always have been the greatest rock and roll band in the world." He went on to thank Jagger and Richards for acknowledging he was responsible "for this [expletive] masterpiece".
The lyrics for this song are great. The lines "I've never prayed but tonight I'm on my knees yeah, I need to hear some sounds that recognise the pain in me yeah" are my favourite. For me it's about going through a bad time and throwing on some music that resonates with you and lifts you up.
You are great at interpretation. I often see you get the meaning on or right after the first verse, and sometimes during the intro. Really cool. And a great sense of humor. These things are why I like your vids.
"Trying to make ends meet, you're a slave to money, then you die." - then the advert directly afterwards at 8:44 is about "filing taxes" 😂 How on the nose, can you get? You couldn't make it up! Tax Slaves United.
I used work at Abbey road studios when I was younger. My manager gave me tickets to a Coldplay concert in Earl’s Court. I went and the supporting band was the verve. Instead of being grateful Richard said “we should be fu*king headlining tonight” although I didn’t appreciate his arrogance, I did think that he was right 😂❤
SWEAR TO GOD... or whomever is your flavor... sceez is the smartest man on youtube. I think his interpretation is dead-on. Man is swimming uphill against all the expectations and decided he's going for it. Yes he catches nasty looks, words or even threats... but he keeps swimming. But he could change he could change he could change he could change he could change............
I always loved this song, but forever now because it's what my Seahawks came out to EVERY GAME during the glory days - and just stopped using that song 3 years ago which made me so sad - thanks for reacting to it!
The UK has great musicians, but lets not forget rock in all its forms is American. Main stream music known today is American. Best artists are also American. No shade just truth. Its incomparable and delusional on all levels to campare the UK to America in music. 😂
Nope. Far from one hit wonders. The UK chart was arguably as influential as the US chart maybe not in terms of units shifted but in sheer competitiveness of top-notch artists - certainly in the 60s-90s. Several top 10 hits in their native country, and throughout Europe, and it wouldn't surprise me if in Australia as well.
Definitely not a one hit wonder 😂 the verve were massive in the 90s and Richard Ashcroft is still performing live as a solo Artist..I’ve seen him over 10 times and I’m seeing him again this summer… not doing bad for a one hit wonder
Could you please react to Ren - bittersweet symphony (verve retake) don’t know if you’ve kept up with him after you reacted to hi ren and illest of our time by him but his version is so 🔥 that the verve’s bass guitarist sent him a guitar as a gift !
'come on' is another epic song. shame some moneygrabber american who gave permission to use the sample saw how big a hit it was and went to an american court to steal rights and royalties.
the stones did sue and got all the royalties(prs) from it and was included in the song writing credits until 2019 when they ceded the writes back to Richard Ashcroft and the verve

FACTS
they don't move aside to make space for him so it's a two way thing

This is on my favorite songs of all time playlist. If I had to pick one song that best sums up the '90s for me, it would be this one.
This song is great. I remember loving it back in the day.
I love it right now!
Many in the music industry consider this one of the best written songs
You are great at interpretation. I often see you get the meaning on or right after the first verse, and sometimes during the intro. Really cool. And a great sense of humor. These things are why I like your vids.
The girl who gets out and yells at him was his GF.
Is that true?! that's fucking awesome
This is the best reaction I have seen to any video. Someone who doesn't give a fuck about what anyone thinks of them... Mega respect.
"Trying to make ends meet, you're a slave to money, then you die." - then the advert directly afterwards at 8:44 is about "filing taxes" 😂 How on the nose, can you get? You couldn't make it up! Tax Slaves United.

The video for the song is trying to mock this The Verve man walking down the street
Video, apparently, represents the walk thru life and the challenges that you face meet beat or die
One of my favorite songs!!

The UK has great musicians, but lets not forget rock in all its forms is American. Main stream music known today is American. Best artists are also American. No shade just truth. Its incomparable and delusional on all levels to campare the UK to America in music. 😂

Great reaction again, thanks. Check these guys out again with “this is music” offical music video. It’s a bit heavier but I hope you like it.

The woman whose car he walks over and then goes nuts, is (or was at the time) actually his wife. Fun fact.

Society still wants me to be what I’m not.
Unfortunately the USA politics has a HUGE impact on Canada. None of it works for the people.
Don’t blame the USA for Trudeaus insane policies
Reminds me of walking through Wigan, you just stop giving a shit.

Can you react to Doja Cats Scarlet Deluxe tracks you won’t be disappointed.🌡️🔥👩🏾🍳🕷️👑🐐New subbb!❤
They stole the string arrangement from the Rolling Stones. They got sued and never made a penny from this song, their only hit outside Britain
I didn't know that! 🤯🤯🤯
the stones did sue and got all the royalties(prs) from it and was included in the song writing credits until 2019 when they ceded the writes back to Richard Ashcroft and the verve
You're right they did! They also 'borrowed heavily' for the video from Massive Attack - Unfinished Sympathy.
Mick and Kieth signed over the publishing's back in 2019. So they made money from there onwards.
@@philipmaddran9828 all the royalties were backdated
