People are comparing this to the Lectric XP 2.0. I think one should keep in mind, when making this comparison, that the Twist comes with a torque sensor (2.0 has cadence), and hydraulic brakes (2.0 has mechanical), as well as a better display. The better design of battery placement on the Twist is also something to consider. I am not suggesting one is better than the other, but when looking at cost/comparison factors, people should take into consideration the differences in design. The Twist is a better designed bike with different components. I like and appreciate the 2.0 as well (I own a 1.0, and I also have a 604 Rook), but comparisons should be done fairly. I hope Court will review the new Lectric products soon.

I want to live in a world where we have choices and appreciation for diversity, but I understand the association of self worth and security to group association. It ensures survival in some contexts… but probably not ebikes ;) This is UA-cam! The loudest voices aren’t always the wisest, the demographics probably favor affordability, and the guerrilla marketing can distort the picture.
I think the Lectric Premium is more of a direct competitor to the Twist. It has a torque sensor driving its mid-mounted motor, hydraulic disc brakes, two batteries, front suspension fork, fenders, and I think, a rear rack. However, it weighs a lot more, and is longer when folded. Nonetheless, another excellent and thorough review, Court, and I also value the diversity of choices on the market. My Mate City bike has a 350W 40Nm hub motor in a 20in wheel and I think it’s a decent hill-climber. The Twist with its 80Nm hub motor should fly up hills in comparison. It probably outclimbs most ebikes with 500W hub motors as they typically peak at less than 80Nm torque and are mounted in larger wheels.
When you mentioned it comes with tires with reflective strips, it made me wonder why bike manufacturers don’t apply reflective paint or tape to the rims instead, given the prevalence of disc brakes. Even on bikes with rim brakes, the center section of the rim is usually domed, so reflective paint here would be visible from the side. I’ve applied reflective stickers to my Trek D8’s rims there (it’s an older model with rim brakes), which enhance its nighttime visibility.

Some people will pay more for the torque sensor, non-rusting fenders, hydraulic brakes, different look, approachable frame, and I think the bike weighs less.
@@pedrofernandez8729 Perhaps, but I think you will agree that most people buy Lambos because they appreciate the quality of the ride over, say, a Honda Accord, and they can afford it. I am sure you're aware enough to realize that everything that is made of higher quality material and components is more expensive than goods that are not. I, for one, cannot afford at the moment to buy the Twist (which BTW is the only folder I am aware of that has a torque sensor), but I see no point in running it down simply because it's not in my price range. The XP 2.0 is a good bike, to be sure, and if that's what you or I can afford, we'd be getting good value for our dollar.
Nope for me, i want front suspension on almost any folding stepthrough even if travel is limited and at that price i would expect a decent adjustable fork.
Hi Bruce, I usually drive to the dealer or a shop and use demo bikes for my reviews. Some companies ship me their bikes, and I either return or donate them. My goal is to be impartial, other times I will sell and send the money back to the company, but that’s a hassle. It’s a lot of fun to visit and speak with the founders, developers, support staff etc. to get a feel for the company and each bike :)
Other than the design of the convenience of the battery placement, this bike is way overpriced! I'll stick with my XP 2.0 for less than half the price.
It seems like good designs all start to look similar because they are striving for universally appealing functionality. That really becomes the case for bikes of the same size and frame style like step-thru here :)

I have the grey one so far all good about 500 miles on it, got it last year in september. fathest i have gone is 23 miles.

So how good are the cells in the battery? Proprietary batteries of low quality are a no go for the savy buyer.
They use Samsung, probably mid-level at this price point. A step up from the cheap Amazon or Costco or Walmart products.
