  • The Surface 604 Twist is a folding fat tire electric bike with approachable step-thru frame. Low stand over height and low minimum saddle position. Two colors including satin black and satin grey. Large color LCD with USB port for charging electronics, powerful geared hub motor, clean wires and decals, quality 10-speed SRAM X5 drivetrain. Good weight distribution with the battery pack low and center on the frame. The charging port and locking cylinder are high on the main tube, making them easier to access. The sturdy integrated rear rack, wide fenders, lights, and reflective tires make it safe and flexible in a wide range of conditions. Free shipping and in-person availability through 90+ dealers. Powerful hydraulic disc brakes with motor inhibitor and brake light blinking mode. Torque sensing pedal assist is responsive and natural, trigger throttle overrides assist. Optional fast charger, trunk bag, pannier bags, suspension seat post, and more. Kickstand mount is fairly close to left crank arm, and could get kicked while pedaling. Torque sensor may surge or activate unintentionally on rough terrain. Weighs 59lbs due to large motor, fenders, lights, and integrated rack. No mechanism to keep the bike folded, such as a magnet or strap, and no derailleur guard.

It's time to start mentioning the battery's UL certification (or not).

What I've noticed is that many companies (even big ones like Yamaha) will say that they meet UL standards, but they may only have portions of the bike certified. It can get a little confusing and change over time if they go through the full process for each bike.

@@ElectricBikeReview The battery is either UL certified or it's not. If they are dodging the question then just assume the battery is not UL certified.

It's right near the shop, just down a few steps! Beautiful spot to ride, I love the lakes and the tunnel sections :D

That may be the lowest step-thru I've seen. Looks like a solid entry in the folding ebike world. And I'm pretty sure you don't have a 131" inseam (8:48). 😉

Oh man! I have a much much shorter 31.5" inseam or something like that. Thanks for the correction :P

Little improvements here and there, it stands apart with the torque sensor and top mount internal battery.

Why are some e-bikes coming with faux leather grips? Seems like they will get slippery with sweaty hands.

Yeah, maybe it's less expensive than leather? Might also be a conscious choice because some people who prefer not to eat meat might also want to avoid animal products on their bikes and cars etc. I think the first BMW electric car was all non-animal sustainable for the interior www.weareellectric.com/stories/the-first-ever-bmw-i5-with-a-strictly-vegan-interior-as-standard
