I must say that this is the only “role play” video that I actually like because you are a kind hearted, compassionate therapist. Most of these role play videos are conducted by robotic therapists who give scripted responses.

We really need to make more awareness about suicide and depression..people are really not taking it seriously unless they've experienced it themselves .....

I thought this was a great role play up until the end when you started to get into safety contracting territory, which the evidence really doesn't support. I appreciate that at least you didn't make the commitment about you, the therapist ("promise me and sign this saying that you won't..."), but at least made it about her supports and protective factors she identified.

Dr. Curtis: you said a few things I wanted to ask you about: (1.) Early on, it sounded like you were going to see if she needed to be hospitalized. If you had determined that she needed to be hospitalized, what would have happened next?.....(2.) At the end, you said you were going to "get it writing".....what is that you would have had her write? Thanks for your time.

So not realistic. Or maybe I’m weird. I break out crying all the time and the last shit I want is hospitalization. They always want to medicate and hospitalize. No wonder so many people don’t seek help.

Exactly that’s why I’m scared to go to my first therapy appointment because I want to be honest abt my feelings but I don’t want to go to a mental hospital or something so Im stuck with either lying and not really getting the help I need or telling the truth but then getting treatment that I don’t want like hospitalization 🤷🏻‍♀️

What causes the crying? The other day I was telling my pulmonologist about how my daytime sleepiness is so severe that I have locked my office door, crawled under my desk, and napped. I started to hysterically cry. That’s not normal, is it? She noted in my chart the “emotional reaction.”

I am having suicidal thoughts but I never told my parents because I think They are not going to believe me and I feel like is just too much there is many things I wanna talk about with someone my grades are not so good so my family are pressuring me to be an amazing student but I need them to understand that I’m a human not a robot and my mom and grandma fight a lot when I was 8 years old I think I got traumatized because I never saw my mom cry so much and she left the state
for 1 year and I feel that that made me really hurt and I feel like they don’t support en I feel like I’m disturbing everyone there is just too much for me I’m stil l a kid and is a lot of pressure for me The thing that keeps me alive to be honest is listening to music is a way of forgetting my problem but still I cry almost all nights and I don’t know what else to do with my life..

I am one year late on this thread, but I really hope you are doing good in life. I read this quote from time to time as a reminder....
Everything in life is temporary. So if things are going good, enjoy it because it won’t last forever. And if things are going bad, don’t worry. It can’t last forever either
      - author unknown.
This quote serves as a reminder to enjoy the good things in life, but also serves as a reminder that bad things don't last forever. We just have to be reminded to be patient with ourselves and to always LOVE ourselves no matter what.

This why I never accepted counselling and I don't complete any health questioner! It is very fine line between feeling bad and being made to think you have a mental health problem!
