Interesting explanation of the importance of properly compacting your soil before building!
Not only do you give your foundation a firm surface to build on, but you cut the costs of repairs in the future.

Question. Can soil recompact if given time to resettle after septic install and rough grading?

I was told In a class that it takes 100 years to recompact naturally. Basically everything disturbed needs compaction

@bar6builds605 Thanks man. I like my septic guy. Him and his old man know the local geology having been in business for 3 generations, but I had a hard time believing one wet season of rain would be enough to get it done. Awesome video, and rare insight. Thanks again.

Why pick road base over gravel for compacted backfill? What would your preference be for under a footer?

Gravel under a footer with a vibration plate. Just don't put gravel where it can conduit water to your wall. Properly compacted Road base will almost repelll water from your foundation

No one on you tube ever do pipe fitting right. Yet they all plaster the pipe dop on. Wasting it.
Pipe fitters code is.
2 dabs of pipe dop one on each side. Wrap Teflon tape in direction of threads 3 to 4 times then 2 more dabs of pipe dop sparingly. If a Forman seen that in a pipe job in a paper mill you be talking to your self.

I'm just doing what my master plumber friend told me to do. Yes he's good. 30 years plumbing turning 10 million a year. But I will take your advice also. Only fools can't learn from others
