I drove redimix for 40 years I’m retired . Great video ! Very informative especially for new drivers . Well done 👍 I never pumped that joy stick like you though . I always moved it in a smooth motion . What ever works I guess . Anyway really enjoyed how you showed different applications and the slump that pertained to them . Well done👍😎🇺🇸
I’m not even a year into ready Mix driving but watching you makes me feel like I’m terrible at my job! This video for sure makes me strive to be better🫡
I am 58. I have had a CDL for 15 years, but have never done ready mix. But on June 11th, I start a new job doing ready mix. Thank you for these tutorials.
@@fabphil63068 Drake Ready Mix in Fort Myers, FLA. I am leaving a company that I have been with for 15 years (giving up 3 weeks of vacation to boot!) to become part of their team.
I just got my CDL last year and starting with a concrete company Monday driving a mixer truck. A bit nervous scared on not catching on but super excited and this video definitely helps prepping!
How's the world of being a mixer driver treating you so far. Your close to a year in looks like. I always loved driving these mixers. Kind of miss it. Started my own tree trimming business though. So that is keeping me hopping. Good luck to you.
rob wixom I actually didn’t last man I was really stressed and nervous because I’m not used to driving them. I’m actually going to start driving dump truck soon which again I’m nervous haha. I have to start somewhere and get super nervous
Thanks for the great video Carl. I worked in Ready Mix up here in Canada for 11 years. I loved my job because every load was different and I had no choice but to be professional at all times. It's NOT a "driving job" but you have to be one of the best on the road. I understand that it's hard to find drivers with the talent it takes to do this job now days.(and I did say talent!) Ray
In Ontario Canada i worked the streets for Waste Management for 5 yrs and INNOCON Driver for 15 i would rather do the garbage at least it did'nt talk back !
You front discharge ready mix guys make this too easy for the finishers. Would love to learn to drive one of these. Been rear discharge mixer driver for 16 years
People that drive front discharge trucks have it easy. In Vegas there is no such thing. We drive 12 yard rear discharge trucks. Everything depends on a good chute man if they suck then it's double work for you especially when you have to back up and move forward constantly
great video. i just started operating a front discharge mixer two weeks ago....i love it but have a lot to learn. ive definitely taken some tips from your video. feeding pumps is easy for me. i need to learn how to be more efficient when pouring slabs sidewalks and driveways.
thank you for shairing your videos and knowledge.. I am starting a new position as hgv class 2 driver, delivering concrete, from the pump. so this video will help me.. I will need to find out, how do I give the correct amount of concrete to the customer, that was paid for and how to to give the customer the right mix of concrete
Nice view from a front discharge truck. We have the rear discharge, no front discharge in my area. Looks different without a man on the chute like with a rear discharge.
Hey Carl are you in the USA cause I live in Canada and we measure the slump from 40 (chunky like) to 600 (watery) (agilia) tomorrow is my first day with my trainer so I wanna have some sort of idea the kind of jobs I may run into while driving a mixer hey I appreciate you do and videos and keep up the good work thank you
You will eventually get to where you can listen to it and guess the slump as well. But take your time with it. It takes a while for everything to fall in place.
So I did my first side walk, it didn't go so well. I could not control the chute. I don't know if the joystick was loose or if I was just nervous but it was very hard to smoothly move the chute across the area.
@@DialToneTP okay thanks. My whole life I've had jobs where the boss man, the office admin, and the customers are pushing me to get it done now now now so this will be new to me. I'll have to force myself to slow down and take my time.
You front discharge guys are crazy. I can’t imagine running my truck without a chute man. I’d rather do the job looking through my mirrors following hand signals than keep track of how much concrete is where on top of everything else.
I guarantee those guys where talking about how good a driver you are when they were having their beers after work. Nowadays you get the young drivers that think their job is to get to the site and dump out all the concrete as fast a the truck can dump it.
@@derekm9388Agreed. The worst is having dispatch rushing you into chaos. We are just a truck number to most of them, so it's nice to build a casual relationship with them over the radio.
Carl Elliott what the hell kinda unit are you pouring with....this is amazing! God......and to think...i was giddy from gettin a truck with a hydraulic chute lock.......
It all depends on what the mix is and what's in the concrete. He seems like a knowledgeable ready mix driver and I doubt he would enjoy his job if he kept on going to jobs wet. That is a ready mix drivers worst nightmare(one of them I should say). Keep on going Strong Carl!
