    The Vanpowers UrbanGlide Ultra is a stylish commuter e-bike with a step-thru frame design and a spectacular spec sheet! We tested its real-world performance and report our findings in this Vanpowers UrbanGlide review.
    The bike is driven by a Bafang 500W mid-drive motor that delivers a surprising amount of punch for a commuter. It has fantastic, fast acceleration and with up to 120 Nm of torque, it packs enough power to handle hills with ease.
    This motor provides incredibly adaptive power due to a torque sensor that detects the rider’s level of effort and responds accordingly. Its sensitivity allows the motor to provide nearly-immediate assistance, which makes for a natural and fun feel!
    The UrbanGlide Ultra also rides like a dream. The bike includes ergonomic grips and handlebars, a Zoom suspension fork, and a suspension seatpost for a smooth and great feeling ride experience.

    I am surprised you did not mention the fact that this motor is probably the quietest made. Now that even hub drives are coming standard with torque sensors, even on discount hub drives, I am surprised at all the remarks concerning them. With more and more states banning throttles on state routes and communities doing the same on their MUP's, soon everything will come with a torque sensor.

      Seems like a popular test location. I note that EBR has tested many models in St George.

    Thanks for this review ! Think I found my new ride 🎉. Live in a hilly section of nyc long time cyclist and want to commute and arriving safe and easy. A heaver rider complying with traffic laws is a huge factor. Any other suggestions ?

      It really depends on the feel and style of bike you're looking for, but I think this one will suit you well! We were impressed all around.

      This one caught us by surprise on a lot of tests.

      I thought this mid drive bike had no throttle. Are you describing another model?

      @@dennisluz6453 he is saying range from a mid drive with torque sensor is X range because it is more efficient .. But just throttle alone at 20 mph I get up to 50 miles.. On a rear hub 1,000 watt bike.

    At this price those features say "a good deal" but it is, oh,so heavy at 70 lbs. Less use of lightweight (6061?) aluminum?

    Doesn't the Bafang M600 allow you to add a throttle aftermarket?

    • @ElectricBikeReport
      @ElectricBikeReport  9 місяців тому

      According to Bafang's website, it seems so - but we think less tech-savvy riders will not likely add that on their own.

    It's "surprisingly",
    not "surpringly".
